Put them shortboards away fools and break out the logs. MEGA Marie swell has dropped and surf is now back to a more manageable size. Swell remnants are here but waves are now more conducive to your longer length water craft and energy levels are back to normal. Amateurs and beginners rejoice! Still have a full crowd pouring into town. Parking is already at a premium and long walks to the beach are expected. A beautiful morning with sunshine and blue skies making the early appearance. Temp is 58F now and will get warm over the full holiday weekend. Expect crowds and general madness and mayhem on land and in the sea. Know your limits and have an ethos.
CHANNEL: Surfable and fun sized waves in the thigh to waist high size this morning. Tide heading low but water levels are good all day and the waves are spread out from the Groin pole all the way across to the Seadrift community. Lefts at the Channel now best suited for longboards and sectioned with medium length rides. Lefts at the Groin a bit smaller but better shape and longer rides to the beach. Seadrift has rights that may be best today with the current swells. Enjoy the wealth and beauty in the ocean and go home with a smile on your face.
PATCH: Roly poly surf outside and well outside. Longer boards for sure today as it is typical Patch stuff with thigh to almost waist high lumps trying to break on the lowering tide. Inside waves will work at the Snags as well and size here runs knee to thigh. It is working but you will need length to get in and maintain speed. Rideable and glideable on the right equipment. If you are coming up short swing by as our racks are full of boards that work.
