Daily Surf Report - 8/31/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Let go of bias, let go of attachment, and you can see the world.”
 - Anonymous

Crazy days here in town. Next level radicalness approaching from the pacific, and some beautiful waves to be ridden today. 59*F this sunny morning with a 10/10 peacefulness. People are laughing, people are crying, people are riding the wild surf. I choose to describe the surf as calf to belly but you can see whatever you so choose. Mellow out with some crystals and be engaged.

CHANNEL: Spinning little ripper shredders with a minimum of 30 second rides. Shoot the curl, hang five and expel the demons from your consciousness.
Morning glass and lefts to the sand brought more than a few smiles. Take off and enter the flow of life whilst allowing your mind to expand to new levels of righteousness.

PATCH: Ankle to thigh with warm beautiful water and all your wishes coming true. Calypso sitting on the outside rock giving spiritual advice for three crystals and two shells. Rub some sand in your hair and feel good.

$50 off all surfboards through Monday!

Daily Surf Report - 8/30/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Don’t go through life, grow through life.”
 - Eric Butterworth

Sun is out and surf is on.  NOT epic but a welcome change from the long flat spell.  Rideable waves in both spots today.

Fog but already starting to burn off with sun working its way through.  Paddle out into the relatively unknown as there is not much current visibility but high probability of waves again today.  Decent bit of S swell on the buoys and parking spots are already filling up.  Surfers checking the reports must know something is out there.  No wind and current temp is 60F.  Should be nice weather through the holiday weekend.

CHANNEL: You can hear but not see the waves as they rush towards shore.  Pretty much expecting similar surf conditions as yesterday which was rideable waves in the thigh high + size.  Multi peaks in the Channel.  Inside Groin bar is showing some small rights but the bar is there and they do hold up for rides.  Might be enough water to make it over the wall but watch your fins if you try.  Will update after sun comes out.

PATCH:  Barnacle crew all headed out to the Patch which loves a S swell.  Might be some waiting for waves but sets will last a while when they show.  First reports say waist high on sets and generally thigh high rights that are working!

The second annual Mill Valley Surf Film Festival is coming up, Sept 13th and 14th at the Sweetwater in downtown Mill Valley. Tickets are on sale now. Looks like a solid lineup this year with Mason Jennings and Rogue Wave playing sets after the films each night.

Daily Surf Report - 8/29/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:“A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled stress exceptionally well.”
 - Cameron Frye

High coastal clouds with hints of blue sky.  Calm and pleasant at 62F.  No wind and an actual wave to ride in the Channel.  Not a mind-surf wave but an actual paddle into, stand up, turn, trim and ride type of wave the likes we haven't seen a quite a while.  Get on it while it lasts.

CHANNEL: Thigh high + rollers that are rideable.  In the Channel proper with rights and lefts scattered about.  NOT epic but definitely a real wave even if small.  Will get the longboard moving and there are about 8-10 in the water now.  Mid tide levels all day so enough water to keep that good feeling going.  Compared to the recent conditions this is a very welcome sight.

PATCH: More W in the current buoy readings has small waves breaking but mostly lefts in direction.  Only will work if you have the biggest of boards as size is knee high or slightly better.

Daily Surf Report - 8/28/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"The only thing 'new' is you finding out about it." -Mike Watt

ATTENTION! We will be closing a tad early tonight but fear not as we will re-open tomorrow at out regular time of 9AM.

Ah- the smell of the sea and the feel of the fog. Paddling across the lines of frothy white water as your once warm and dry wetsuit begin to saturate with Mother Ocean's essence. You paddle for the outside as the emerald plate glass which you stroke and glide upon begins to move, as if alive and change it's once prone angle into a pitching ramp as it heads towards you. You suddenly stop paddling and sit bolt-upright upon your steed watching the green mound grow bigger and steeper as it quickly approaches. Turning your steed toward shore now you never take your eye off of the approaching mass and as it nears to where you can almost smell it's salty breath... it's now! You calmly lay upon the knife edge weapon and take one, two, three long deliberate strokes as you feel your legs begin to pitch forward and you're looking down the green embankment. Here, at the top of the wall you spring to your feet feeling the wind rush past your ears, with knees slightly bent you quickly slide to the bottom of the wave steering your hydro steed to set up your first turn on the bottom...
Remember surfing? Yeah, me too. I sure miss it.  The sun is trying to peak out from the foggy shroud as it's 59 degrees and not a lot to write home about.

CHANNEL: Knee-to-thigh high crumblers for that "straight-off, Adolph" cruise. Nothing really clean as of yet and the tide is going back out which means the lagoon will be draining. Bert & Ernie on the custodial gear out there right now going straighter than a GOP candidate in the front pew of the local church.

PATCH: Question; What's flatter than a tortilla....

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"You can be as mad as a mad dog about the way things went. You can swear and curse the fates; but when it comes to the end, you have to let go." -Benjamin Button

Ghost fog has moved in and mellowed everything out. Crazy wild and small waves are snaking in out of the white oblivion. Its a chilly 57*F out accompanied by a not so heavy crowd. The earth has brought us a silent day for some much needed recollection and adjustment to our priority list. Enjoy the calm and the small bit of surf that we have.

CHANNEL: Paddle out into the unknown and meet the one solitary surfer out there for a free palm reading and energy cleansing. Knee to waist high lefts are coming out of this other dimension un-ridden and unconquered. Be the second brave soul to charge the unknown and learn the secret of being.

PATCH: Lost at sea and invisible to the naked eye. Gather your most powerful pieces of meteorite and open your third eye. Surf isn't looking like anything as there is nothing but a large white canvas shrouding your hopes and dreams. Paint a beautiful picture on this wall o' fog and pray its slightly bigger than flat.

UPDATE: Closing Early, CALL in advance. Wax on, wax off. The sun comes, and the sun goes.

Listen up all the mothers, brothers, huggers, muggers, sluggers, and shruggers I have a surf report for you on this beautiful bobo morning. It is a toasty 61*F this calm and collective morning with not a lot of surf and plenty of good feelings. No wind, no chop, just a sheet o' glass today. Sweeping SUP-ers are getting the most of it, so if you have a lot of foam, bring it on.

CHANNEL:  Two of the Bolinas janitorial staff surfers are the only ones out and reaping the bounty of this ankle high day. Lake is the name of the game today. Be inventive and give that alternative craft a dust off. Lunch tray body boarders will receive bonus points for being stoked.

PATCH: Pancake flippin' flat. No more, no less.

Daily Surf Report - 8/25/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Happiness resides not in possessions, not in gold, happiness dwells in the soul." - Democritus

18'000 sec. UPDATE: the slippery, sexy, swami of a sun doesn't know how he is feeling. In and out.. in and out...

80 min. UPDATE:  the fog has moved back in like the wayward prodigal son...put some Kansas on, maybe watch Fletch, get weird...

10 Min. UPDATE: the golfers fog this morning is starting burn off, like the double jointed leprechaun, and the pot of gold in the sky may start shining any minute...

Calm and spiritual out there with a little swash of sensual swell, and an air temp of 62*F this foggy, spectacular, Sunday morning. Shaka throwers, peace bringers, and weekend warriors are all wandering the streets aimlessly in their suits looking for the surf on this gray day. If you can skip your way to the sand and enter the mist, your going to have a good day. Put your fun hats on, we're on our way.

CHANNEL:  Sailors, pirates, divers, donut dunkers and surfers all can get some of it today. Ample wave selection and sections are probable if you have a big board. Sets in the ankle to thigh high range and plenty of positive people drinking it in.

PATCH: Rocks, Rocks, rocks, rOCks, ROcks, RocKs. At the patch today I am viewing rocks. Surf is possible, but not probable until the tide fills in. Keep an eye out and feel the probability increase.

Daily Surf Report - 8/24/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”  -  Robert Louis Stevenson

Most beautiful of mornings here in West Marin.  Full sunshine to start our day, no wind and temp is 58F.  We still have morning low tide that needs to fill in and a bit of S swell still kicking around providing the occasional rideable but small wave.  Flux capacitors are operational keeping all sharks away and the Fitzer valve is open as well.  Looks to be a great beach day and there may be a wave or two to ride as well.

CHANNEL:  Low tide just hitting bottom so a bit churned up.  Has potential to work on the incoming tide but needs an hour or so for more water.  A group of surfers on the wall willing it to work so add you positive thoughts and go with the crystal and be rewarded with waves.  Currently no one in the water.

PATCH: Exposed rocks and flat conditions.  Hoping that more water and the little bit of S will translate into a positive vibration culminating with waves to surf.  Will need more time to see of this happens.  In the meantime wax up the log just in case.

Daily Surf Report - 8/23/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.”  -  Milton Berle

Potential Pulses on the horizon.  Still seeing some signs of S swell on buoys and now in the water as well.  Very long intervals between waves and low tide not helping at all but little bits are starting to show.  Light overcast with sun starting to show.  Windless with a morning temp of 57F.  We had sun most of the day after the cloud burn-off.  No shark sightings at Stinson since Monday evening and nothing seen at Bolinas all week.  If the waves materialize it could be a nice weekend of surf.

CHANNEL:  Smooth ocean surface and low tide.  Plenty of sandbars exposed and no waves due to no water.  Empty line up. Maybe later?

PATCH: Exposed rocks and flat conditions.  Way, way out in Greene Africa there are signs of surf and 2 intrepid explorers are out there now.  2 surfers suiting up in the lot as well.  Not much going on but enough to make you put a wetsuit on.  IF the S swell is out there it will show here best and first so we will keep an eye out for something when the tide fills in.  Late morning / early afternoon are hopeful times.

Daily Surf Report - 8/22/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate. ”
 JRR Tolkien

Grim times and looooww tides.  Lots of exposed sand bars, rocks, nooks nad crannies to explore this morning.  Overcast and dry with no wind and a temp of 60F.  Perfect weather conditions if we had more water and some swell. A few signs of optimism on the buoys but won't translate to waves until the tide really fills in.  No signs of the man in the grey suit either so game on - if there are waves.

CHANNEL:  Bottomed out low tide giving us sand to view and no waves to ride.  Some signs of a new steep S swell in the water but not showing here at this time.  Empty line up.

PATCH: Exposed rocks and flat conditions.  IF the S swell is real it will show here best and first so we will keep an eye out for something when the tide fills in.  Late morning / early afternoon are hopeful times.

ATTENTION K-MART SHOPPERS! We will be closing early today. We will open again tomorrow morning at our usual time of 9AM.

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Sometimes you eat the bar-sometimes the bar eats you." -Sam Elliot from The Big Lebowski

Good morning practitioners of the slide! It's yet another slate gray and drizzly summer morning here at the beach. The temperature is a balmy 59 degrees and the on-shore wind has backed off a bit. Still no swell to be found but hey, it's summer in Bo. Remember, this is all temporary and things will change...they ALWAYS do. The only thing in the water right now is the lifeless body of an adult seal washing up in front of the Pilings/Play Pen. Terrific....

CHANNEL:  Low tide. Not much of a swell. Maybe later with the tide change? maybe not? I'll post if anything happens.

PATCH: Nothing here but broken dreams and busted fin boxes.

Daily Surf Report - 8/20/2013

Achtung! We will be closing early today but will open tomorrow at our regularly scheduled time of 9AM.

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Boy, sometimes you gotta' eat a lot of sh*t before you know what a sirloin tastes like." -my grandpa

Good morning everyone to another gray and drizzly summer morning here at the beach. Yes, as crude as the inspirational quote may be to some of the folks with delicate sensibilities it rings true for today as one must pay their dues before they can appreciate the finer things. With a temperature slinking in at 59 degrees and a pretty strong on-shore wind it's looking pretty crummy out there right now. Here's where you're paying the dues because as surfers we all know days like these come along BUT they also go away and then that day arrives where the glassy emerald green slide inducers arrive and you are ready for the sirloin.

CHANNEL:  Lumpy and bumpy (not the name of a vaudeville comedy team) that if one were to actually go out you may get a 10 to 20 yard ride with a board big enough for separate zip codes. Not much of a swell combined with a very strong on-shore = no bueno. No one out.

PATCH: No breaking waves here. In fact, there isn't enough swell for the Patch to break wind today. On-shore winds and a creepy oil/gasoline slick coming in between the Play Pen/Pilings and the Green/Graffiti wall makes my skin crawl. No one here either.
