Daily Surf Report - 11/28/2012

ATTENTION: We are closing today at 2PM due to weather conditions.

Holy Macaroni! To call today's conditions 'stormy' would be a severe understatement and the acme of foolishness. It's currently 56 degrees (yeah, like that matters) as huge on-shore winds, enormous curtians of rain and a rather large, surging high tide make this a day where one should stay away from any and all coastlines! Yes, there is a severe weather warning out today so please drive safley and batten down the hatches because we're in for a few days of this.

CHANNEL: Able to fall even the biggest of freighter ships. Huge, stormy mess. Stay out of the water and give the Coast Guard a break today.

Daily Surf Report - 11/27/2012

Goodmorning to all of you dreamers of sliding and gliding. Keep dreaming for today is overcast with a HEAVY on-shore wind and not a wave in sight. The current temp is 56 degrees with the weather calling for rain storms and more...wait for it, wait for it...wind. Good day to go to work, go to class or stay in your cell doing push-up's until chow call.

CHANNEL: Today the waves must have joined the witness protection program because there is NO surf in the Channel today. High tide, on-shore wind and a lot of chop. Not much else. Need I say it? I will; no one is currently out.

PATCH: In a word; NOPE. Go get your Christmas shopping done... maybe some surf gear?

Daily Surf Report - 11/26/2012

Goodmorning everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's currently foggy/overcast here in town with the temp at a cool 51 degrees. Not much of a wind and a teensy bit of texture on the water. However, this high tide is killing what little swell there is. Perhaps later with the tide change?

CHANNEL: Tide, tide, tide (I don't mean the detergent). It's as if the Fun Police came in and busted any chance of surf today. I dunno, maybe later with the tide change? No one out at the moment.

PATCH: It's lolling in around thigh high this morning way inside. Still, so soft that a shipwrecked tanker full of Viagra won't pick it up. Maybe the outgoing tide will help out? It looks like a Barney convention over there. Ten (10) plus wishing and hoping and hoping and praying.

Daily Surf Report - 11/25/2012

Non-sunny surf day here in Bolinas. Plenty of leftovers and a new helping of NW swell giving us plenty to ride in town this morning. Thick foggy blanket hanging over town but don't sleep in or you will miss the surf. Currently 53F and zero wind. Glassy ocean surface. Ins and Out and All-abouts against the seawall this morning. Super high tide making entrance and exits an adventure and yard sales are happening everywhere. Timing and awareness are the key words today.

CHANNEL: Waves all over with Mali-Bo the best. Rights waist high + and long rides to the beach can be had. Outside in the Channel smooth lefts with longboards and SUPs getting waist to shoulder high rides. Some waves close out the bay like Waimea brah!! Over at Seadrift there are waves as well that are going waist high. Lots in the water and all equipment works today. Remember etiquette and good Thanksgiving spirits. Current will be stong when tide switches and heads low.

PATCH: Working today and everyone rejoices. Surf in the thigh to waist high size. Lots of longboards in the water and a procession of surfers hiking up and over the wall to get there.

Daily Surf Report - 11/24/2012

Another beautiful Saturday morning in Bolinas. The sun is out, and so are surfers and joggers and all sorts of mornin' peoples. The tide is super full right now, so beach acces is a little sketch unless you are a Gnarnian. Smallish surf but clean anf fun conditions, get out there and get some.

CHANNEL: Some waves here, some waves there...over at seadrift there are waves, maybe knee to waist with surfers and SUPers on it. Middle bar is showing a little life with some humble rollers on through. And the Mali-Bobo bar is reeling too in the knee to waist high range. Good little group of surfers on every peak, watch for the current to pick up as the tide will be flowing out for most of the day.

PATCH: Zilch, nada, nuthin...maybe with the tide flowing out now...but serious ankle slapping enthusiasts only. No one currently out and rather lake-ish, do the wave dance.

10% off all surfboards
1 Day Only - get on it.

Happy day after Thanksgiving everybody! Hope you ate well and are ready for another beautiful day in Bolinas. The sun is out, about 51 degrees and there is a little surf out there. Tide is still a little full but hopefully conditions will improve as the tide flows out through the morning, get your breakfast, coffee and bloody mary and make a go of it.

CHANNEL: Not much happening in the middle due to the big rip tide flowing through there, and the bars have shifted. Lot's of SUPers and surfers over on the Seadrift side and a good little herd ramping it up on the Mali-Bo bar near the pole. Surf looks to be in the knee to thigh high range with occasional waist high wompers.

PATCH: Surf looks to be in the knee high range. Plenty of longbaorders out on it with a kayak doing the perimeter patrol. Should get a little better with the full tide dimishining into late morning.

Daily Surf Report - 11/22/2012

ATTENTION: We will be closed for Thanksgiving and re-open on Friday at 10am. Enjoy the holiday.

Greetings and good day to all of you in surflandia. It is currenting 58 degrees where the patchy morning skies and the sun are vieing for your attention. The surf has improved 'somewhat.' It's still a bit drunk (read; warbly) and the pulses between sets are very frequent. It's a big work out without much payoff. Be sure your paddling skills are bueno and mind the flotsom being pushed around with these pulses. A few bipeds are trying to make it work as I write this.

CHANNEL: It's about waist + for the most part and the set waves are coming in at chest to shoulder high on the outside middle bar BUT before you come racing into town in your yellow Xterra and No Fear t-shirt and start suiting up before looking be forwarned; It's sectioning and closing out faster than a Hostess Cupcake factory. Four (4) longboards and two (2) janitor boards out there right now doing whatever it is they think that they are doing.

PATCH: The Patch is looking rather hung over and after all of the drunken/sea sick water that's been spewing through here it's no wonder. Occasional (and I do mean occasional) waist (+/-) roller comes through at the Snags but it's a wait to-be-sure. If you're gonna' go, it's an Abraham Lincoln morning....LOG. Empty line-up right now.

Daily Surf Report - 11/20/2012

Goodmorning to all you sea-fairing folks. If one has read the book, 'A Perfect Storm' (okay, or saw the movie) then I will not have to expound any further on today's surf conditions. So, this goes out to the three people who don't read or go to movies (or maybe just don't like George Clooney or Mark Wahlberg). On-shore winds are howling (Chester Burnett style) white capping everything and making it near impossible to have any fun. Empty parking lot, empty line-up, empty heart. Good day to work or sit by a fire, or read a book, or watch a movie.

CHANNEL: Drunk and disorderly again but today it's in major DUI proportions. With more impending rain and such and this relentless on-shore wind it's not looking too great today, kids. Maybe tomorrow? Now, THAT would be a fine Thanksgiving, yeah?

PATCH: The Patch is so unattractively out-of-control, sloppy and drunk that it's making Courtney Love look sane and sober. Yeah, it's that bad! Nirvana it's not, Hole it is. YUCK!

Daily Surf Report - 11/19/2012

Happy Thanksgiving week to all of you with aqua marine dreams and liquid salt realities. It is currently 58 degrees with the sun peeking over the saw-tooth hills but there is a thick blanket of doom & gloom grey that is peering this way, oh-so-menacingly. Sea-sick conditions out here with a heavy on-shore wind and lot's of texture. No real clean waves but that doesn't seem to be stopping anyone. Plenty of wishful thinkers in the drink but two fly fishermen have the right idea.

CHANNEL: Drunk and disorderly is what's happening here this morning. Stiff on-shore wind pushing what could be... D-O-W-N. Below waist high crumble-bums with the law firm of Wind, Chop & Texture sueing any clean waves that dare to come through. A few clients trying to make a go of it... whatever 'it' is?

PATCH: Knee to thigh high grunters which are about as sober as your prom date are puking all over the Patch. This on-shore is mixing up a cocktail that doesn't look too promising, yet several folks are going out anyway. Big boards and lots of Dramamine is recomended.

Daily Surf Report - 11/18/2012

Storm is over sunshine is present. Lightly offshore winds and a relatively smooth ocean surface. Lots of different swell angles in the water so a mixed bag of conditions but definitely rideable today. Currently 49F and clear blue skies. Parking spots are filling up rather quickly so giddy up and get on it.

CHANNEL: Mixed peaks that are relatively clean. Surfers spread out from the Groin pole all the way over to Seadrift. Lots of little peaks breaking with the best waves waist high + and a little spray off the back. Longboards look to be the best call with tide going high until the afternoon.

PATCH: Mixed up but rideable with outside waves looking almost waist high. A bit scattered but right place and time scores. Inside right is throwing and looks good for bodysurfing, boogie boards or paipos. All rocks covered up at the moment and tide still coming in. Big, big logs and SUPs are in the water.

Daily Surf Report - 11/17/2012

Not windy at the moment, drizzle here, drizzle there...hard to tell if things are going to get better or worse. Currently it isn't too cold out, but not very appealing. Water is muddy looking from rain and looking a little mixed up. A little surf out there though, and some guys making a go of it.

CHANNEL: mixed up, kinda peaky, semi-clean...one ocean kayaker ripping away in front of the groin pole and 5 or six surfers on a mixed bag of equipment making a go of it. About knee to waist to maybe chest high on some of the sets.

PATCH: no one out currently but pieces and parts are breaking, probably offering some rides at the right place and the right time...looks to be in the knee high range.

Daily Surf Report - 11/16/2012

Light rain with showers predicted into the weekend. SW winds as well which are no bueno for good surf conditions. High tide and going higher with no real swell activity at the moment. Might be a good day to get your Thanksgiving shopping list ready or come by the shop and look at new suits and boards for Fall. Temp is 57F. Will update later if improvement is noted.

CHANNEL: A sloppy mess. Only Bridget out but she has no choice if she wants to keep her daily streak alive. Good luck catching 3 to the beach. 2 are suiting up in the lot for what I don't know.

Daily Surf Report - 11/15/2012

It's a great day Gilbert. It is going to be a great year Lewis.

If you like balmy Fall days with light offshore breezes then today is your day. Currently 61F and already warm. Unsetteled weather may be coming our way this weekend so get your sunshine now. Great day for a touring SUP, kayak, canoe, waterbike or any other human powered watercraft other than a surfboard. Nearly flat at the moment with tide still rising. Maybe evening session tonite for better results.

CHANNEL: Nothing happening here yet. On the Seadrift side the rights are working wtih a nice bit of spray off the back and look to be waist high. You will need to make a pilgrimage there for waves today. Empty lineup. Afternoon tide change maybe.

Daily Surf report - 11/14/2012

Goodmorning to all of you purveyors of aquatic endeavors. It's a classic Northern California sunny fall morning. The current temperature is 56 degrees, which is quite a bit warmer than the previous day. However, the surf isn't classic fall NorCal surf as it's pretty much not in town today. What with this ridiculously high tide and not much of a swell push behind it it's like trying to compete in the X-Games drunk, with a walker and your feet cemented into a wash tub. However, with shifting tides one never knows what could happen next. As they used to say in the early 1960's, "Pray For Surf!"

CHANNEL: Not really anything to talk about here. There is a crumbly speed bump of white water occasionally rolling by over at the Sea Drift side but I can't really polish this turd any better. One custodial board sweeping up over there. I didn't see him wearing an orange vest, so maybe he's not doing the community service thing? Check back when the tide shifts.

PATCH: On days like this the Patch reminds me of my ex-brother-in-law, neither are working. Again, maybe later with the tide change we'll see something work over there...though don't hold your breath for the ex-brother-in-law.

Daily Surf Report - 11/13/2012

As The Rascals used to sing, "It's a Beautiful Morning." Sunny with high 'horse tail' clouds (as Jack Ellis would say) and a chilly 45 degrees this fine autum morning. The surf today...well, with this sharp up-coming tide in the extreme and lack of a swell it's making one want to think twice (three times?) before entering the water. Slow, buttermilk crumblers, if there is anything to ride out there. Big (as in HUGE) boards may work but I'd wait until the tide changes...and you know it will.

CHANNEL: Inside, INSIDE (that's Double Secret Probation inside) Mali-Bo there might be a knee high mush burger but that's about all there is on the menu for now with this huge tide. I bet with the out-going tide later there will be a mini buffet for all to eat from. Two (2) diners in the back booth fighting over a cracker right now.

Daily Surf Report - 11/12/2012

Goodmorning sea creatures! It's just like a 1970's beer commercial out here this morning; Cool, Crisp and Clean! It's currently 47 degrees as Autum is in the air. The sun is out and the sky is that shade of bird shell blue with whispy clouds absent mindedly playing in the stratosphere. The water is somewhere in the mid 50's and there is texture and a bit of a cold gust blowing off shore. Besides sun block also cover your ears from the cold.

CHANNEL: Mali-BO is still trying out it's Johnny Fain vs. Miki Dora on the insdie but it closes out faster than tickets for a Tom Waits concert. Rolling in on the Middle bar, Groin Pole as well as waaaaay over on the Sea Drift side. Waist (+/-) with occasional chesters.... a few longboards are waxing aquadic right now.

PATCH: This seems to be the meeting spot today. Thigh to occasional waist high lolligagging wedges in the middle to very inside. With this sharp, up coming tide it won't last long so get 'em while they last. A smattering of longboards and janitorial equipment doing the shimmy all morning long.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!!

Another beautiful Fall Bolinas morning. Chilly morning, about 48 degrees but a little surf in town and plenty of people getting on it! An awesome sunny beach day, just bring warm clothes, IT'S FALL!

CHANNEL: Mali-BO is still working, several people on it. About 20-25 people on Seadrift rights and middle of channel bars, mixed bags of waves in the knee to waist high range.

Another beautiful Fall Bolinas morning. Frosty air temps but warm water. Hoods and booties not required. Sunny, clear, windless and currently a nice 49F. It is Fall and feeling fine. Surf continues to be rideable all over the town spots. A fun morning if you're into surfing and that kind of stuff. Ins and Out are available off the seawall as are smashing waves. Watch your step when getting around during the higher tides. About 20 in the water but farily well spread out. A great day to come to the beach.

CHANNEL: Mali-BO rights and Channel lefts prevail again and again. Also action over at Seadrift with 2 bars working. Swell has a good amount of W in it. Nothing north of the Groin pole working at this time but as tide changes it might. Inside the Groin pole right is grinding along again in the thigh to waist high size. Rippable and shortboardable today. Deep Channel left is about waist to shoulder on the sets if you are sitting on the right spot. Outgoing tide should improve conditions as well. A variety of equipment in the water from SUPs to longboards, fish and Simmons as well. Bodysurfing the inside can be accomplished as well with the higher tide. Ocean is smooth and the sun is out. Good stuff.

PATCH: Open for reservations with knee high/thigh high rights working more consistently this morning. Breaking mostly middle to inside but the snags are covered for now with the high tide. Watch for boils and rocks as the day moves along. Empty lineup right now. I would solo session here and enjoy the solitude. As always, bring the bigger board.

Damn fine morning. Frosty with residual hail on the ground from last nite. Sunny, clear, windless and a brisk 43F. It is Fall and feeling fine. Looks like weather has settled and will be stable through the weekend. Surf has come up a notch and is rideable at both spots in town today. About 10-12 in the water already. CHANNEL: Mali-BO rights and Channel lefts prevail again. Also action over at Seadrift with 2 bars working. Swell has a good amount of W in it. NOON UPDATE - Rain, heavy at times. Still a bit of surf.

Good morning. We start today sunny with very light wind, a smooth ocean surface and a temp of 52F. Predicted sun for the rest of the day with unsettled weather on Friday. There is small surf in town and a few waves to ride. Current empty lineups so a great day to rent and learn or get that solo session in during the week. Bring the big board for best results.

CHANNEL: Mali-BO is the best call today with small rights grinding along inside of the Groin Pole. Tide is favorable and if you have an old G&S fish, egg or Simmons you can score the thigh high surf. Longboards will work as well and there is a wave on the middle Channel bar but is has some sections that may not be makeable. Smooth ocean and a little bit of something for everyone.

PATCH: Knee high rights intermittently breaking in the middle area. Slow rollers and smooth for your big board. No one in the water yet so get it now.

Aloha, bruddah's an' sista's. It's currently 55 degrees with overcast skies and patches of fog. Looks like the sun has packed up and took that NW swell along with it as well. Dang! There is still a slight portion of something in the water that can light your fire. Big boards are the answer to the question you are thinking. You are the Lizard king...and you can do anything.

CHANNEL: Waist high (+/-) here today. The Middle Bar and the Groin Pole are pushing forward but it's about as sloppy as the best man after far too many drinks at the end of the wedding reception. Sections are abundant but there are a few gems in there that one may obtain with the right attitude and perhaps a pick-axe and headlamp. Seven (7)Longboards and SUP's mining for that heart of gold.

PATCH: Knee-to-thigh high. Slower than a postal worker at Christmas time on cough syrup. Sputtering lumps in the middle Patch and inside. If you don't like it, then just make like the Crawfish and back on out of it. Four (4) longboards and janitor boards dreaming about sun and swell there now.

Good morning to all of you stoke-minded peeps! The sun is making another appearence with it's high-watt grin bumping up the current temp to 59 degrees and climbing (note: it reached 94 degrees here at the beach yesterday). There is also some wave activity in boths spots with surfers all over it like wives on a mormon. Lot's of texture and currents in the H2O so be mindful of your water knowledge and abilities. Pick your water craft of choice and absolutely wear the sun block.

CHANNEL: Above waist-to-shoulder high peaks! Though a lot of these waves seem to section quite a bit there is still the occasional glider in there. Middle Bar to the Groin Pole and if you don't mind paddling, the Sea Drift side looks promising as well. A good eye and even better patience will help you here, Obe Wan. Five (5) Jedi warriors doing the "Funky Death Star Twist" there right now. May the Force be with you.

PATCH: Waist-to-above-waist high here today! Yeah, you read that correctly. Though it doesn't look too clean (see above, texture/currents galore) it's breaking outside, inside, the middle, Green/Africa...It's all log-able. Fifteen plus (15+) logs, custodial boards, etc. making it work for them. Run Forrest, Run!

Happy Monday to all of you slip and sliders of the sea! What a BEE-U-TI-FUL DAY! Currently it is a warm 63 degrees and the sun is out grinning it's gold tooth display. The wind is a bit off shore and increasing and I'm wishing that the NW swell that's supposed to come through here would do a Brenton Wood and "Gimme' A Little Sign." The combination for today is as follows: Biggest board you have and a whole lotta' sun block.

CHANNEL: Knee/thigh high that with this off-shore is making it a bit funky like a bow-legged monkey. S-O-F-T waves crumbling across the middle bar. A whole buncha' logs out there now doing a Derek Zoolander "Magnum." It's a walk-off!

PATCH: Knee/thigh here as well. Slow poke rollers. All sorts of water craft trying their best to be a Little Lebowski Achievers. It's all happening on the inside and those rocks DO BITE, so be mindful and don't forget your Creedence tapes.

Today's Horoscope: Your self control is very strong right now, so don't be worried if you face any temptation today -- you can take it. Your willpower will not only give you power over the things you are trying to overcome, it will serve as an inspiration for someone else who is struggling. You should share your story with this person -- don't assume that they can't learn something from your experiences just because your paths are so different. They can, and they will.

Sunny and beautiful morning with clear skies and a morning temp of 52F. Super smooth and glassy ocean surface with lots of little peaks to ride. A few pods of harbor porpoise swimming about and a small school of Sea Squirrels frolicing in the surf as well. Crystalline spray off the backs of waves. It is a magical morning. Eat your Lucky Charms and get on it.

CHANNEL: Still have multi peaks from Sea Drift to the Groin bar deliving rideable waves in the thigh to waist high size. Nice little spinning left working and water is warm. Everyone on longboards to get in early. Super smooth and glassy with 2 janitors cleaning up the occasional spill. Tide is mid to high all day and going low into the evening.

PATCH: Shin burners and knee crunchers but breaking and rideable on a log. Glassy rights with plenty of water covering the rocks. Only 2 surfers in the line up at this time. Bring a big board and get wet.
