Daily Surf Report - 3/26/2012

Winds in spring. We like north winds more than these south winds.
It is surfable kinda still at the channel, but it has some pretty Gnar morning sickness from all the weather we have had. 49 degrees, overcast.

Sidenote: if you see people touching or harassing sea creatures please report them to the Marine Mammal Center. A volunteer informed us that someone was seen cutting the head of a dead sea lion, very illegal! Please call 1 (415) 289-7325
Protect our Oceans.

Channel: Kinda of drained from the low tide an hour ago. Zero people in the water, it is still surfable with thigh high sets coming in. If the wind mellows out just a tad and the tide comes up, it could be fun with these little swell lines I see.

Patch: Pretty drained and shredded.

Daily Surf Report - 3/25/2012

Light winds but you can tell it was stormy, semi-glassy, and a little bit of left over swell that will fade throughout the day. Currently 47 degrees, a sunbeam here and there, and then some drizzles, weather is a little bipolar today.

Sidenote: if you see people touching or harassing sea creatures please report them to the Marine Mammal Center. A volunteer informed us that someone was seen cutting the head of a dead sea lion, very illegal! Please call 1 (415) 289-7325

Channel: Bottomed out tide but filling in now, some left over swell is still pushing through, about 6-7 guys out, knee to waist high waves. Maybe enough push for a fish, but mostly longer boards reaping the rewards out there.

Patch: Not totally destroyed, a little mixed up and wishy washy, knee high, should improve with tide push.

Daily Surf Report - 3/24/2012

Rain - yes, but very light winds at this time. Has brought a bit of ocean energy with it and there are some waves to be ridden. Currently 47F with rain and clearing predicted.

Channel: Actually has a clean left working more on the Groin bar and peeling through at waist high +. There are a few surfers in the water on long and short boards. Storm has not ruined things as the wind is light. Could stay good - we'll see. Word of mouth reports of Seadrift being shoulder high or better.

Patch: Hacked by the storm with whitewater and pieces of surf all over the place. Not organized at all. Might be thigh to waist high but not very appealing or rideable today.

World Water Day and Beach Clean Up today.

Daily Surf Report - 3/18/2012

WINDY. Clearing after storm conditions. Cool air temp of 45F. No rain and overcast skies currently. Moderate to heavy gusts of NW wind - which is a good thing and swell lines on the horizon. Close period storm swell with some little nuggets of joy spiraling through.

Channel: Tide is just now peaking. Short interval big wind swell and the channel is diggin' it. Post St Paddy's day surf is fun. Waves in the knee/waist to shoulder high range...with a few scattered head high bombers out there. Pretty thin and spread out line up out there. Definitely worth getting wet.

Patch: Scattered peaks with surf in the shin/knee/waist high size. High tide letting the storm swell into the Patch but not super clean. There are a few waves and rides to be had if you are in the right spot at the right time. No one out at the moment.

Channel: Tide has peaked and is fat. Bars are good and solid. Waves coming through pretty close together but are rideable and in the waist to chest high size. Longboards are the call with the higher tide but shorter boards can get going on the inner bars. Outgoing tide and improving weather should make a positive difference later in the day.

Patch: Scattered peaks with surf in the waist high size. High tide letting the storm swell into the Patch but not super clean. There are a few waves and rides to be had if you are in the right spot at the rigth time.

Rain and wind continue. On a postive note groundwater and reservoir levels are now up to 77% according to my sources. Storm surf that doesn't look inviting on any surfing level.

Daily Surf Report - 3/14/2012

Spring Cleaning,

There are flood warnings in the area.
I hear sandbars are setting up. Please do not surf today. If you have the willpower required to drag yourself out to sea in such conditions, you should feel guilty for not applying this drive to better outlets such as : saving the world. Superhero conditions: heavy onshores out of the south, lots of messy waves, dirty water, cold sideways rain/wind. I am filling up my gas tank right now.
BTW- 2 mile will probably close early today due to weather~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Channel: irritated. Check picture below.

Patch: It would be best if we don't talk about this right now, the patch is a little upset.

Daily Surf Report - 3/12/2012

The Conditions are Fine.

I here it is about to get crappy, but currently it is not crappy.
It's light overcast, no wind, and little longboardable waves are coming through the channel. about 51 degrees. A few people out.

Channel: Low tide has it low, but the shape is decent and there are a few people out. Lefts are breaking by the middle of the channel, about knee to thigh, somewhat frequent. A couple of people are doing this on LB's.

Patch: Nothing. However. Way on the low tide outside zone, there is a pack of like 5 people sitting way way outside going for some lowtide SUP soup. Ewwwwwwwwww.

Daily Surf Report - 3/11/2012

Please read aloud with sarcastic inflection:

"IT IS FIRING!"

47 degrees, rainy drizzly, with some slight onshore flow...maybe if you are a miniature version of Dane Reynolds, you could be using the onshore push in the crumbly 2 ft waves to be blasting massive backside air reverses and blowing the minds of all the...all the...hmmmm....well, the couple in rain and fishing gear on the beach with their dog. Better surf might be found elsewhere.

Channel: Super sucked out low tide, two guys on it, with crumbly sectiony knee high lefts reeling through.

Patch: Check out all those rocks and Barnacles!!! Two loggers on it jamming in ankle slapping butt tickling waves.

Say "Hello" to my little friend.
Meet the Mini Simmons. The board is a revelation to ride. They are loose, oh so skatey and the fastest board you’ll feel under your feet - period. Catches everything and rips. Displacement hull to a double-concave with quad fins from Futures to provide extra hold. Designed so that even the heaviest of riders can go tiny in size. These boards are ridden ridiculously small. We stock from 5.6 up to 6.0' Come check them out and take your surfing to a new level.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 3/10/2012

Happy Birthday Jaime C! Enjoy the day and your new 10.0' present.

Overcast skies with streaks of blue and winds remain lightly offshore.
Temp is currently 47F with cooler temps predicted. Surf has come up with new NW swell and both spots have rideable waves today.

Channel: Outer bars working again with new dose of swell. Waves in the thigh to almost waist high size. Smooth little lefts that are breaking all the way to the inside Groin. About 8 in the water on longboards.

Patch: Back in action with waves outside and midway as well. Scattered peaks that are thigh high + and roll along for a while. Lots of exposed rocks with current low tide but will fill in througout the day and could improve.

Daily Surf Report - 3/9/2012

Super beautiful and chill.
Sunny and windless with current temp of 48F. Smooth water surfaces at reservoir and ocean as well. Still waiting for new swell to kick in and fire. Still a great day to come out and enjoy the beach.

Channel: Mali-Bo. Get your inside right fix as that is all that is working this morning. A small crew of surfers and SUPs on this spot so a bit crowded but you take what you can get. Very smooth ocean and waves are knee high and roll along.

Patch: Nothing at the moment. Flat. Great for SUP touring or kayaks.

Daily Surf Report - 3/8/2012

Fat moon and 40F.
Sunny, cold and clear with big full moon today.
Winds are light to nil. Surf is relatively lake-ish with an occasional Channel roller coming through. Eastern Gulf swell on the horizon but still a few days away.

Channel: 2 surfers out with smooth / flat conditions. Occasional knee to thigh high wave roll through on the bar. Sunny and beautiful but not lots
of surfing action.

Patch: Nothing at the moment. Great for SUP touring or kayaks.

Daily Surf Report - 3/7/2012

The winds have dropped, the sun is out, there are waves in the water. It would be great if these waves were breaking. But we have a big high tide in about an hour, so things are a little swamped out. Conditions are good for later in the day surfing. Lunch looks fun.

Channel: Currently knee high and 1 person out. Crumble dumpers through the middle of the Groin.
Patch: Nothing at the moment.

I will update the report at around lunch time.

Daily Surf Report - 3/6/2012

Oh yeah, the afternoon update: 3:00
It's still pretty small, and mushy. About Knee high, but really nice out with mellow winds.

Daily Surf Report - 3/5/2012

Attention: 2mile surf shop will be opening about 1 hour later than usual on 3-6-12. Please check at around 11 am for surf reports

Not bad, would be good,
If there was a macker swell, we would be stoked because the conditions are so nice. The winds are nil, there is a light fog blanket hanging over the Bo, and every once in a while a little peeler comes through. We are supposed to begin getting much more surf later this week, we are primed and ready it seems. You could come and still longboard today. We are currently dropping from a high tide, things could get better later on today with a tad bit less water in some spots.

Channel: Tides high, channel is empty pretty much. The tiny waves that do break, break clean.

Patch: Some people are waiting and wading, but the might be there for a little bit.

Daily Surf Report - 3/4/2012

Another Beautiful Morning!
52 degrees and sunny. But............there's always a but......if you DO plan on coming out here today, please bring some waves with you.

Channel: Very high tide is beginning to push out now and it is the least crowded I've seen it in a while, probably because, when there is a wave, it is only in the shin-knee high dredging range. A great day for beginners or just paddling around. Glassy conditons, should improve as tide flows out.

Patch: Three people out impersonating barnacles, occasional wave in the ankle mangling region, two people on the inside. Not much happening at this spot.

Little left.

Daily Surf Report - 3/2/2012

Sunny skies and off shore winds. Currently 46F with another high pressure system moving in to the Bay Area and will deliver warm temps over the next few days. Waves are small but rideable today in both spots.

Channel: Sandbars are good and firm and when a wave comes from the right direction it breaks and is rideable going both left and right. Waves today have a nice shape and spray off the back. Size is consistently waist high and seems to have enough push to get a shorter board moving. About 12 in the water.

Patch: Cleaned up and smooth but small. Way outside waves are thigh high. Long lulls which look good for conversation breaks with you fellow surfer. About 8 longboards and SUPs in the water getting waves.

Through the looking glass!

Daily Surf Report - 3/1/2012

1:00 pm Update:
Sunshine and light winds. Possibly a bit cleaner and still thigh to waist in the Channel.

Misty moistness and almost raining. Overcast with moderate on shore winds and drizzle. Temp. currently 50F. You could surf if you wanted and a couple of people are in the Channel.

There is a crowd of 2 currently in the water. Might be something headed our way in the next day or two but today is windswell surf.

Channel: Sandbars are good and firm and when a wave comes from the right direction it breaks and is rideable going both left and right. Size looks to be about waist high and there are 2 longboarders out giving it a try.

Patch: Pieces and parts of windswell here. Not the most appealing conditions. Knee high on the inside waves.

New logs in the shop. Resin tinted and Volan cloth - a classic combination. Big wide noses and fins. Soft, buttery rails to cruise, glide and trim. These are both 10.0' and were shaped by master craftsman, Bob Miller, out of Santa Cruz. These are the last coming out of his shaping bay for a while as he is sailing off to warmer waters. If you want a board to rule the Patch come take a look.
