Daily Surf Report - 2/28/2013

Last day of the month. Last day of our MEGA surfboard sale. Get it today or be bummed.

It's a beautiful sunny morning in Bolinas with air temp of 52F and stiff NE winds blowing offshore. NW swell in the water and peaks to ride on the big board today. Put a smile on your face and come play in the brine.

CHANNEL: Thigh + to waist high breaking over the middle bar. Sectioning and closing out over the middle but looks like there are a few corners to ride. A few straight out front the look bodysurfable so consider the handplane and fins today as well. 3 in the water already.

PATCH: Scattered peaks way outside and all over the place as the NE wind is really getting to it there. Thigh-to-occasional-waist high but most rideable inside today as the waves are holding up in the Snags. Basically waves are popping up all over the damn place. Inside, outside, Snags, E.T.'s, Green/Africa, blah, blah, blah. About 8 in the water looking for the Sweet Spot to ride.

Daily Surf Report - 2/27/2013

2 for 1 Rental Wednesday is TODAY! Bring a friend to the beach, get them in the water and teach them how to surf. Your second set of rental gear is FREE.

Goodmorning everyone and welcome to the wild world of surf reporting, where one may feel the thrill of sliding a waist high wave or the agony of drop-in Barney's. This just in from the beach; It's a gloriously sunny morning with the air temp coming in at 46 degrees, the water temp is at 49 degrees and there is just a kiss of off-shore wind combing the small but glide-able breakers. It's a big board day, so put a smile on your face and come play in the brine.

CHANNEL: Waist high (+/-) breaking over the middle bar. Again, with the sectioning and closing out over the middle but looks like there is a corner to glide from time-to-time. Five (5) humanoids out on the Channel dance floor doing a new dance called the "Drop and Slop."

PATCH: Thigh-to-occasional-waist high. Could be best described as "Scatter Shot." Little gems of waves are popping up all over the damn place. Inside, outside, Snags, E.T.'s, Green/Africa, blah, blah, blah. Some roll along quite well as others hit that hole and pull a Doug Henning (Google it) while others just flat-out lie to you. Twelve (12) on logs and Janitorial buffing equipment looking for "The Spot."

Daily Surf Report - 2/26/2013

2-Mile Surf Shop will be CLOSED today and will reopen on Wednesday at 10am.

Goodmorning and welcome to another wonderful week here at the beach. It's sunny out with a bit of a stiff, off-shore breeze making the temp come in at about 48 degrees as I write this. There's still a teeny, tiny, smidgen of an undulation in the water, so with a big enough board and the right attitude there is some gliding delight to be had, as it's also good for beginners today as well.

CHANNEL: Waist high breaking over the middle bar and the Sea Drift side of the bar. LOTS of sectioning and closing out over the middle but looks like there is a right corner to gleen on the Sea Drift side. One (1) longboard out there right now. Bring the longboard or stop by the shop to pick something new up as our MEGA sale ends soon!

PATCH: With the up coming tide there is still a bump rolling through the middle of the Clam Patch as well as at the Snags. This is all in the thigh-to-a-very-occasional waist high slide. Don the neoprene and log, log, log. Six (6) folks on longboards over the Clam Patch discussing last nights Oscars right now.

Daily Surf Report - 2/24/2013

Beautiful morning in Bolinas today. Remember it is February. Sunny, with a bit of texture in the water. Offshore N winds, no clouds, temp is 52F and expecting mid 60s. A bit more swell in the water today. Definitely a day to come to the beach and get wet. Great day to longboard and great for beginners as well. Bring sunscreen.

CHANNEL: The waves are about waist high this morning and should improve with the tide going out a bit. Get it soon before the tide receeds, before it gets too low this afternoon. Peaks are spread out from the Groin pole and over to Seadrift. A mix of about 25 longboards and a SUP or two in the water with enough waves for everyone. Size goes waist high and shape can be sectiony at times. The right one rolls through smooth as can be and there are good rights to be ridden. Bring the longboard or stop by the shop to pick something new up as our MEGA sale ends soon!

PATCH: High tide has the inside Snags covered up and working again as sand has moved off the beach and filled in a few bars here nicely. Outside Patch also has waves spread out a bit but rideable on the LOG. Size is thigh + up to waist and smoothness prevails. A handful of surfers in this spot this morning. Grab your foam and ride, slide and glide.

Phenomenally phenomenal morning in Bolinas today. Remember it is February. Sunny, light offshore N wind, no clouds, temp is 47F and expecting mid 60s. A bit more swell in the water today bumping things up a notch and giving us a few more wave options in town. Definitely a day to come to the beach and get wet. Great day to longboard and great for beginners as well. Bring sunscreen.

CHANNEL: Incoming tide giving that extra push and will peak soon. Get it now and as the tide receeds but before it gets too low this afternoon. Pop up peaks spread out from the Groin pole and over to Seadrift. A mix of longboards and a SUP or two in the water with enough waves for everyone. Size goes waist high and shape can be sectiony at times. The right one rolls through smooth as can be and there are good rights to be ridden. Mali-Bo is rideable but will shut down soon with tide change but a few fun ones to be sampled here today. Bring the longboard or stop by the shop to pick something new up as our MEGA sale ends soon! Outgoing tide may improve shape.

PATCH: High tide has the inside Snags covered up and working again as sand has moved off the beach and filled in a few bars here nicely. Outside Patch also has waves spread out a bit but rideable on the LOG. Size is thigh + up to waist and smoothness prevails. Grab your foam and ride.

Daily Surf Report - 2/22/2013

Good morning crustaceans! Another beautiful day in West Marin. Sunny, no wind, brisk at 42F but will warm up. Still getting some localized windswell with bouy reading 9' @ 12 secs. Enough to get in the water and ride some waves today. Again a glassy ocean and peaky little rollers in both spots. Incoming tide has just peaked and there is plenty of beach as well. Great day to longboard and great for beginners as well.

CHANNEL: Sectiony today with the peak high tide but occasional right working off the Groin pole bar. Still a few waves coming through that are worth riding and if you make it into the Mali-Bo region bonus length rides are available. Size goes thigh high + and a longboard is the board of the day. Tide is dropping now so shape may improve.

PATCH: Waist high outside and smaller on the inside of the Patch. Move waves today with new windswell and about 8 in the water on logs and SUPs with more heading over. Less water will get the Snags going and that spot has been super fun. Grab your foam and ride.

Good morning surfers! Sunny, brisk and beautiful morning with very light wind and current temp of 44F. Localized windswell in the water with a new NW on the way for the next few days. There are rides to be had today with a glassy ocean and peaky little rollers in both spots. Great day to longboard and it sure beats working.

CHANNEL: Glideable and rideable waves at the Groin pole and running on through into the Mali-BO regions. Size goes thigh high + but with the right longboard you are on it and catching waves. Peaky tide dropping now so shape may improve. Seadrift looks a little bigger and has rights to ride as well. 2 in the water with others giving it a look.

PATCH: Waist high (maybe) middle and inside of the Patch as well as the Snags. This spot is the call as there is lots of sand in the water and landings are soft. Wave will hold up and can be ridden to the beach if you pick wisely. 4 in the water on logs and SUPs. Get it.

Daily Surf Report - 2/20/2013

Good tidings to all of you brine riders on this glorious day. It's sunny out but on the chilly, chill, chill side at 43 degrees and with a bit of an off-shore blowing like a Miles solo from 'Kind of Blue' it feels even a bit colder. There are rides to be had today so ply the neoprene and grab a wave vehicle and make for the shoreline!

Channel: Waist/chest/occasional shoulder slappin' you upside yo' head at the Groin Pole, Middle Bar and Sea Drift too. Can be section-y and all so use the force, Luke and choose your wave wisely. Four (4) various wave tools there now but these may not be the droids you are looking for...

PATCH: Waist (+/-) high middle and inside of the Patch as well as the Snags. This spot is actually popping and locking almost as well as Shabadoo and the Lockers. Eight (8) B-boys & B-girls on logs breaking now, yo!

Daily Surf Report - 2/19/2013

2-Mile Surf Shop will be CLOSED today and will reopen on Wednesday at 10am.

Goodmorning wave sliders! It's currently 49 degrees and overcast here at the beach today. It's a bit glassy out and even a teeny bit of a bump is in the water, so in that true Bolinas fashion; the bigger the board...well, you know the rest.

Channel: Waist (+/-) sectioning and closing at the Groin Pole and the middle bar. However, Sea Drift is getting more attention than Bill O'Reilly at a Black Pather meeting with five (5) various wave craft in play. Meanwhile, back at the Groin Pole/Middle Bar, there is an occasional corner that can be gleened but that will require the right eye and timing. Timing is a tricky thing. If you know the story about Captain Cook then, like Cook you know all about bad timing. Three (3) longboards trying not to be eaten.

PATCH: Thigh-to-waist high slow-pokes that fizzle when they hit a hole. However, there is a left sputtering along at outside E.T.'s and of course there is a right to be obtained on the inside of the Clam Patch as well as the Snags where both are doing their best pushing a bit of juice. Be careful of the rocks. Eight (8) longboards and custodial equipment polishing that turd.

Daily Surf Report - 2/17/2013

Good Morning Campers! Well, it's another beautiful day out here at camp driftwood, the sun is shining, wetsuits are being pulled on and the parking lot is filling up. Drink your coffee and make it a beach day. Yesterday we saw bikinis in February, and a little swell too. Looks like the swell has dropped a bit, but maybe it's just the tide getting low...still, there are some fun clean little wedges out there for the taking. Snag the sunscreen and get ready for the cannonbal comin' at ya!

Channel: Some little peaks popping up here and there from seadrift to the groin pole. About 20+ surfers on it fairly spread out on fishes, eggs, longboards, and a lone body surfer. About knee to waist high+ on some of the sets. Dumpy sections here and there, but some rides to be had, maybe we'll see improvement as the tide swings around and fills in this afternoon.

PATCH: a handful of soldiers out there making a run of it. Some triples over squirrel reelers here and there, but it's not liking the low downward spinning tide at present. Same story as above, maybe the tide swing will add to the push out there this afternoon.

Daily Surf Report - 2/16/2013

Yesterday was official Phil Collins Day in NYC. We'll rock it in the shop today!

A Bo-beautiful morning greets us again today. Blue skies and full sun. Light, warm, NE winds warming it up. Current temp of 58F with 70s expected into the weekend. Lots of beach and calm tide swings make access easy. Bring the sunscreen, shovel and pail and don't forget a board either to get some surf.
New pulses of surf from the small but long period NW swell. NOT epic or firing or tubing but fun, small, rideable surf that puts a smile on your face. Ask Kiernan M. who came out with low expectations and caught wave after wave after wave - all the way to the beach. We have small surf but a nice day to be at the beach and perfect for beginners right now.

Channel: Low tide conditions and not showing swell too well at this time. Glistening micro barrels in the knee high size. Groin wall and lots of beach are exposed. Glassy and beautiful day. Waves are intermittent now as swell needs more water to show better. Seadrift has a few peaks worth looking at but empty lineup now. Tide is filling in and more water and time may make this spot worth a look later in the day. It is a fine beach day.

PATCH: Outside waves in the thigh to waist high size but may be best handled on a SUP. There are 6 out there now and paddle power seems to be the key out there. Middle section on the sandy side of the inner bulkhead rocks delivering waves to ride for surfers in the knee / thigh + size. The inside is a boiling cauldron of submerged rocks and kelp so navigation is necessary. Your feet, fin or board may encounter a hard object if you are not aware. Lot of sand and exposed rocks now. Waves come in bunches after a while and long rides are there for the taking. Fun stuff and worth a dip.

Daily Surf Report - 2/15/2013

Another beautiful morning greets us in Bolinas today. Blue skies and full sun. Light NE wind and high pressure system in place. Currently 56F and warming up! Starting to see signs of a new NW pulse on the buoys that may be comboing up with localized windswell. Readings of 6' @ 16 secs are out there but not translating to much surf yet. Tide swings are much calmer through the weekend but we are experiencing low tide conditions right now. We have small surf but a nice day to be at the beach and perfect for beginners right now.

Channel: Low tide conditions and not showing swell yet. Groin wall and lots of beach are exposed. Glassy and beautiful day. Waves are intermittent and knee to thigh high rights on the Groin bar are possible after a bit of waiting. Seadrift has a few peaks worth looking at but empty lineup now. Tide is filling in and more water and time to let the swell show itself may make this spot worth a look later. It is a longboard day at best and a fine beach day as well.

PATCH: Scattered peaks outside but mostly breaking again on the inner south portion of the Patch. Inside waves in the knee to thigh high range. Lot of sand and exposed rocks now. A bit more water and your favorite single-fin log could make this place work later.

Daily Surf Report - 2/14/2013

Spectacularly beautiful morning here in Bolinas today. Full sunshine, no wind, temp of 48F and lots of beach. Just localized windswell out there with very small surf today but it is so nice here it is worth the trip and hopefully a waves will be here to ride. Leave the shortboards home and bring the log, your loved one, your pet and and picnic today. Fantastic day for beginners.

Channel: Low tide / No tide. No swell / No surf. Glassy, small and beautiful but ankle to knee high right now. Seadrift has a few peaks worth looking at but empty lineup now. Tide is filling in and maybe more water makes this spot cough up a wave or two. It is a longboard day under any circumstances and is a fine beach day as well.

PATCH: Outside meeting rock rollers mostly NOT breaking. Inside waves in the thigh high range look rideable but keep and eye out for exposed rocks as there are many right now. A bit more water and your favorite single-fin log could make this place work later.

Daily Surf Report - 2/13/2013

Attention: We will be closing early today at 4PM sharp! However, we will reopen tomorrow morning at our usual start time of 10AM. Thank you.

Shiver me timbers and I mean that literally...well, if I were to actually have "timbers" to shiver as it's a cool 44 degrees here at the beach with a bit of an overcast marine layer hugging the ceiling but it promises to burn off later and warm up a smidge as well. The surf is all glassy but not too classy as it looks to be in the throws of a last ditch effort before it takes a leave of absence for a bit. A big board could make your day.

Channel: A waist high (+/-) right that is dwelling on the Sea Drift side of the middle bar this morning is getting a lot of attention as it's the prettiest girl at the dance. It looks to be a clean and quick little corner to glide on or snap a few off-the-lip's upon. With this up coming tide I don't see how it couldn't get even better. There are a seven (7) humanoids doing just that on a smattering of short and long water vehicles as I pontificate about this.

PATCH: Thigh-to-waist high slow rollers outside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head. Naturally, the Patch being the Patch a lot of these will up and die just inside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head as there is a hole there. However, with enough push an occasional wave (generally a set wave) will make it on through. Hey, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now-and-again. The bigger the board the better chances of a glide. Log, log, log!

Daily Surf Report - 2/12/2013

Happy Fat Tuesday to you all! It's 50 degrees with a light overcast sky here today at the beach as you slide into Marti Gras and git dat gris gris! The swell is still somewhat around but it's about as clean as a bowl of dirty rice with a mess o' crawdad. There are corners to ride upon but it's textured and sloppy a bit, so a huge board may be what it will take to make it work for your groove thang today. Happy Birthday, Abraham Lincoln!

Channel: Waist high (+/-) close-outs at the Groin Pole as well as what is left of the Middle bar. It really looks like it wants to break cleaner and very occasionally it will.... almost, but one will have to wait it out and make the correct wave selection or you might as well of brought a raft and pretend you're shooting the rapids in the Colorado River. There were two longboards but now there are no takers at the moment.

PATCH: Waist (+/-) breaking Way Outside, Outside, middle, inside and even at the Snags. Frequent pulses that are producing the usual Clam Patch variety plate #7, which is pretty much any kind of bump there is; some are breaking clean, most are not and just about all pull the Houdini dissapearing wave act except a few that will roll the whole way through. Use a log and choose wisely and this could be the spot for the day. About six (6) longboards and custodial equipment there now.

Daily Surf Report - 2/11/2013

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Greetings wave wranglers and Gung Hay Fat Choy! Here we are at the start of another glorious week as, by the look of it thus far it's promising to be a great one. It's sunny out and coming in at around 50 degrees, so be sure to wear some sunblock today campers, as yes you can still get burned. The waves are looking a bit tasty as both spots have something "going on" that is glide-able but don't start thinking Cape St. Francis circa 1964 just yet. Conditions, conditions, conditions is what has to line-up all perfect like and we're still a bit of a ways off for that BUT there is something (read below).

CHANNEL: Waist-to-chest high stuff billowing in at the Groin Pole, (what's left of) the Middle Bar and something way over at Sea Drift BUT they do section fast and close-out quicker than a Drive-In theater (Google it). Two (2) longboards out there now waiting for the second feature.... which I hear is "Attack of the Mushroom People."

PATCH: Waist (+/-) breaking Way Outside, Outside, middle, inside and even at the Snags. It's breaking everywhere and everything but the law. These waves do tend to peak and then flatten back out (aka Liars) or they break, roll for a bit with a sputtering, sectioning face and then also flatten out. There is a left out there that looks good. Big board = long slide. Ten plus (10+) out there now digging the sunshine and the fact that I'm not there crowding the line-up.

Daily Surf Report - 2/10/2013

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

BRISK and CHILLY morning but some new swell in the water. About 9ft @1 17 secs, so long interval and waits between sets, but some nuggets rolling through. King tides still ruling as well so watch for big tidal swings and the new swell. Fun surf conditions out here in beautiful cold Bolinas this morning.

CHANNEL: Definitley some swell, surf is in the waist to chest high plus range. Lot's of people spread out out there from seadrift to the boat ramp. Fishes, shortys, boogies, paipos, longboard, simmons, handplanes will all work out there today! Get wet!

PATCH: looking a little confused out there but definitely some sliders n gliders to be had. ABout 20 or so people out on it, with waves in the knee to waist high + range.

Daily Surf Report - 2/9/2013

Brisk and chilly early morning with frosty temps and light ice. Now warming up as high pressure system is in the area and current temp is 43F. Expect nice weather and warmish temps through the weekend. Buoys show decent amount of NW swell with readings of 13' @ 12 secs up and down the coast. Super fun morning session even with tide rising to king levels. Some energy in the water and a few crack-a-lackin waves to be had as well. Smooth ocean with light NE winds. Doesn't get much nicer than this for a beach day in February.

CHANNEL: Peaking tide but delivering rideable and fun waves. Size goes consistently waist high + and a touch bigger on best waves. Rights and lefts being split by the Groin pole. Lefts are rolly, bowly goodness that double up inside. Rights are smooth and long as they run in past the Groin and into the Channel. Long paddles or walk the beach back and repeat. Tide will turn around and head out soon and shape may get better. Enough energy to ride a shorter board and Simmons, Villa, egg or a fish will work. Longboarders are racking up the waves today. Come get wet.

PATCH: Still mostly inside peaks but a few are starting to show outside. Swell may need a bit of time to fill in here and there will be waves to longboard or SUP soon. Rocks are currently covered and will stay that way for a few hours. You'll have to hike up and over the seawall to gain entry but it is a beautiful day to surf the Patch. Size is thigh high or better.

Daily Surf Report - 2/8/2013

Magically beautiful morning here in Bolinas today. Sunshine up above and blue skies, low level fog and mist in the valleys, high pressure weather kicking back in and current temp of 45F. Calm to light winds from the NE. A bit more windswell out there in the 10' @ 12 second range. Enough to generate a few waves once the tide starts to recede. Get it early early morning or wait a few hours for best results.

CHANNEL: Tide peaks in 1/2 hour so mostly shut down at the moment. Will start to turn and run out to a negative until the afternoon. Will help with shape but moving about 8 feet of water so lots of pull through the Channel. Currently a few waves pop up here and there but only rideable on a big board and size is thigh high. Get a cup of coffee and tell surf stories to your friends for an hour or so then check it again to get wet.

PATCH: Inside peaks due to high tide but rideable for a bit until they pound the shore. Rocks are covered but lurk below so use a bit of caution on the inside thumpers. Outside showing a peak here and maybe a peak there but too much water has things pretty calm at the moment. Less water may improve the shape but that will be in an hour or two. Find the Channel surfers and join them for coffee and story time until the tide drops.

Daily Surf Report - 2/7/2013

Goodmorning surfers. It's NOT starting sunny today here at the beach. Light overcast starting to turn blue and sunny with light rain. Not much is expected to come down and it will turn nice again for the weekend. Warm/humid at 50F right now. Light winds from the WNW not causing much to happen as we have only windswell out there in the water today. Still surfable but not as good as our recent run.

CHANNEL: Peaking high tide starting to head out now. Sloppy Joe style with thigh high mini-waves here and there. 1 SUP and 1 surfer competing for most waves. Mali-Bo insiders might be working for a bit with this much water. Outgoing could help with the shape but overall looks to be one of those inbetweener type of days as we wait for the next swell to move in. We do have ALL new boards on sale this month so come by and browse the racks.

PATCH: Thigh high lumps and bumps that mostly break and look rideable on the inside Snags. Rocks are covered up and there are a few rides to be had before the tide changes. Big big boards on the outside will work and something smaller can move on the inside for the adventurous.

Daily Surf Report - 2/6/2013

Goodmorning mutants. It's sunny (for now) here at the beach as the temp is coming in at around 43 degrees (it should warm up later into the mid/high 60's) and there is still some swell churning the butter out here. Both spots have a little action going so again, it'll be a big board day but you can handle that, right?

CHANNEL: Waist-to-occasional chest high section-happy honkers are rolling straight in at the Groin Pole and over the not-quite-organized middle bar. With the right eye for wave selection and a little luck there is a momentary corner to slide upon but you gotta' act quick or it's either failing for nothing or a trip to the bottom of the sea. Six (6) stink bug stylists on longboards looking to exterminate their blues away.

PATCH: Thigh-to-occasional waist high lumps that will break outside, middle and inside of the Patch and dribble and section their way to termination of the said surfing contract between wave v. surfer. Since the tide is turning back out to sea now is the time to file your claim before the wind comes in later and files an appeal to spoil your surfing fun. The lawfirm of Mary & Russ are out there now pleading their case.

Daily Surf Report - 2/5/2013

Buenas dias surferos todos! It's a sunny morning (so far) out here at the beach with the temp coming in at 50 degrees as little lines are engraving the emerald surface of the ocean as they wrap around Duxbury reef and terminate on or near Brighton Beach's dimpled shore line. Big boards are what is needed as there are a few gliding possibles out here this day.

CHANNEL: Thigh-to-occasional waist high section-happy rollers are yawning at the Groin Pole with an occasional corner to slip onto either right of left. The tide has begun to ship out to sea, so it this particular wave will suck out on the soon-to-be-exposed sand bar and send you on an abrupt and rude trip to the basement if you are not careful. One (1) humanoid purveying the slackness of loggy fun.

PATCH: Thigh-to-occasional waist high rollers skating through the outside, middle and inside and leaning as right as a republican from center. Naturally, with this out going tide please be mindful of the rock trolls that dwell just beneith the surface of the Clam Patch. Three (3) neoprene clad thrill seekers doing the Johnny Knoxville right now.

Daily Surf report - 2/4/2013

Attention: We will be closing early today. However, we will be open tomorrow at our regular time at 10AM. Thank you.

Goodmorning all! It's another wonderful day here at the beach with overcast skies, no wind, 48 degrees with it promising to get a little bit warmer and even a bit of aqua realities to spend your morning on. Both spots are functioning at a par to subpar level so bring whatever it is you ride upon and sample a taste of what is being served up this grand morning.

CHANNEL: Waist-to-occasional chest high lunkers that are glassy over the Middle Bar and Groin Pole...Sea Drift too. A bit section-y with close outs (which is what this place does mostly) but with the tide dropping faster than a prepubencient's testicles it could clean up better than a lucky drunk in Vegas. Four (4) at the table now with an even mix of short and longboards hoping to hit a Blackjack!

PATCH: How much would you pay for a Patch that is breaking (somewhat) cleanly in the thigh-to-waist high range just about everywhere in and around the Patch? Well, don't answer yet! The Patch is breaking better than YOU can Julien french fries! Hard to believe? It slices, it dices, it can even deliver a decent glide on a log going left or right! Yes, you read that right; left or right! So what are you waiting for? Grab your longboard and join the other ten (10) or so happy log jammers and SUP janitors in the Patch today. Operators are standing by.

Daily Surf Report - 2/3/2013

Do the Ice Capades start today?

Fairly clear and no wind today and an early morning temp of 46F. High pressure system remains in the area and we will have sun later in the day and warm temps through the weekend. Plenty of people out on the beach today and in the water. If you're not watching the World Series later there should be waves, so get wet.

CHANNEL: Pretty spread out but still a little hectic and crowded. People are surfing from Seadrift to the boat ramp. There are waves breaking in the waist to shoulder high range and there are lots of longboards, SUPs, kayaks, boogie boards and shortboards in the water. Grab your favorite stick and snag a few before they drop the puck.

PATCH: waist to chest high swell coming through, some will peak and burger and others will make a little go of it. You can ride a smaller board out there today, but a log is always a good call in the clam patch, to get you through the flats. Plenty of SUPs and longboarders out cleaning it up.

Daily Surf Report - 2/2/2013

No shadow for Punxsutawney Phil, so spring is around the corner. According to folklore, no shadow for Phil means “there will be an early spring.” Had Phil seen his shadow, it would have meant six more weeks of winter.

Light fog but no wind today and an early morning temp of 51F. High pressure system remains in the area and we will have sun later in the day and warm temps through the weekend. Excellent day to come to the beach and play - bring the groundhog! Off to a slow start this morning as new, long-period WNW groundswell starts to fill in. Should see fun sized surf as tide turns around and swell fills in during the day into the afternoon. Pre-cursor waves are starting to show up and buoys have it already. Surfers in the water at both spots and it should only get better over time and through the weekend.

CHANNEL: Thigh high corners off the Groin bar right and occasionally the Channel deeper bar left. Best on a longboard right now but a shortboarder is out there getting a few. Not consistent or filled in yet and tide continues to go low until 10:00am. A little time and more water will help as swell is a bit late arriving and will fill in throughout the day. Expect crowded conditons later and will be a nice beach day as well with lots of sand back on the beach.

PATCH: Inside rideable rights in the thigh high range. Also breaking way way outside which may be the start of the new NW swell. Surfers on longboards at both spots catching waves. Cruise along for a bit before they die out and watch the inside snags as the rocks are starting to expose. More water and more swell with give us better conditions later today.

Daily Surf Report - 2/1/2013

New NW swell not here yet but predicted to arrive on Saturday and remain into Sunday and Monday as well. It is long period and good sized so get ready.

Foggy inland and a bit frostly in the lower valleys. Perfectly sunny, clear and beautiful at the beach again today. Feels warmer than yesterday and current temp is 52F with light SE winds. High pressure system to remain in play through the weekend. Expect mid 60s to low 70s. Small waves remain again today but lots of beach and another big NW swell is headed our way expected to arrive soon. We'll continue take what there is until the bigger waves arrive. A few corners out there if you need to get wet. Great day for beginners as well.

CHANNEL: Again knee high grinders in the Channel on the Groin bar and sometimes out on the deeper Channel bar. Can be ridden on a longboard. Not too consistent but a beautiful beach day so bring sunscreen and your biggest board today. A few on the wall eyeing it and talking each other into putting on suits. I say you're already here and surfing beats NOT surfing any day of the week.

PATCH: Scrappy knee high waves scattered around the area. Tide dropping out to low right now. Inside rocks popping up here and there so mind your toes and fins here. Still potential for logs or SUPs to give rides.
