The NW swell is just dying off due to the lack of self confidence. Some early morning riders sit in the Channel waiting for a knee to waist high slow roller while the Patch is taking its paid vacation. It's now 50F outside and a solid 52F in the open waters

CHANNEL: A small NW swell making diminutive rights clear as day with long waiting periods. It may be small but there's still some snazzy rides that follow.

PATCH: Sometimes you just have to ride the waves you're given. Too small and nearly flat as the minor NW swell skips straight to the Channel and bypasses this arena.

Just another calm day at sea with some early morning riders siting and waiting for a knee high slow roller. It comes and it goes in small sets as a digressing NW swell takes place in the mellow waters. It's now 52F in the Adam's ale and a solid 46F outside. Some might think its too small and others might think its just perfect as not much takes the place of a peaceful day at sea.

CHANNEL: The NW swell keeps trying to make its way to the shore. All it has for us today is small breakers with long waiting periods. Be patient and have fun with what you are granted as some day there will be nothing to ride.

PATCH: Can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf. Today's that day you've been waiting for. Small rights clear as day breaking outside with stylish rides available makes thing fun and simple.

Early morning riders suit up as all parking dissipates into thin air. No clouds in the bright blue skies of Bolinas as the temp hits 50F and is sun filled. The day starts off right with a residual NW swell coupled with NE winds making the peak of the wave shatter and shine. Small fun rides are everywhere as people start to crowd the open waters.

CHANNEL: Mid-tide messing with the sand bars as it's had to relocate after the severe high and low tide swings. Ankle to knee high rollers come flowing in and patience is a virtue in this situation. Long logs make long stylish rides possible.

PATCH: Life, like surfing, is all about wave selection and balance. Never let the best waves in life pass you by. Ride it now before it's too late.

Starfish and coffee. Maple syrup and jam.  Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine and a side order of jam.  Watermelon, sunflower seeds, turkey legs and sun.  Summertime vibes in January as we feel warming temps and enjoy the dry stretch of weather.  NE winds blow offshore and have morning temps at 47F with a bit of spray off the wave tops.  NW swell winds down but still has momentum to spare and waves to dispense.  Quiver contemplation on the ramp to nirvana as the parking spots dwindle while lineup grows.

CHANNEL: Mid-tide molecules shows a modest but clean discharge along all compass points.  Sandbars are steadily holding their ground only to reveal themselves in surprising places.  Thigh to waist high peaks are spotted and released and though much of the beach has been removed the access points are relatively easy to chart.

PATCH:
Wind is in the willows
My house is up a tree
The seas of change are flowing
I want everybody free
To do the rock, do the woodland rock

New journeys into the vast unknown as most beach sand has been thoughtfully redistributed.  Everything you know is wrong and finding the path to right is a worthy one.  Heavy NW swell remains active and evolving within the rising tides.  Overnight gusts have since calmed and a groomed appearance awaits.  Clear, dry and 39F outside.  Water temp dips to 52F.  Countless options are at your fingertips.

CHANNEL: High and not dry with the peaking tide.  A push not needed has most waves thick and overflowing.  Migratory sands have spawned unfamiliar bars that require exploration and a learning curve.  From directly in front of the boat ramp proper all along the southern coast there are potential poppers and forming faces.  Lower tide is a friendlier atmosphere but there is game afoot.  Size estimated at shoulder or better. Welcome to the new normal.

PATCH: A plethora of peaks and patronage as well.  Not quite too much water yet but pushing up to the climax.  This swell has enough energy to override water levels and access will require the long paddle rather than walk.  Rights and lefts with chest high determination are visibly altering our perception of the region.

Ramp ranglers and wall whompers this is your day.  Freshly minted and large NW swell arrives along with morning high tides to create initial havoc with deferred rewards.  Entry requires timing, persistence and paddling to breach the beach breakers. With no winds present, full sun and an early temp of 44F we are primed for glory and generosity bestowed.

CHANNEL: Nearly fully swamped out with over 6' of tide but the swell is heady and looking for areas upon which to fold.  All walls are fully engulfed and shifting sands are re-aligning themselves to produce mainly rights in the waist high category of size.  Clean up on aisle 9!

PATCH: Enough potency and west in this swell has the Patch scrambled and jambled though seekers with moxie have found regions of delivery.  Inside among the Snags seems to reveal the cleanest facades while outside lies challenges possibly worth the efforts.

High tide soaking every thing in its path as water splashes high into the universeThe water falling from above as it crashes the boat ramp is now 54F with mid NW swell making its homeToo much water for now with a very strong current. Some fun rides as it should be calming down upon low tide. It's 46F but as the sun steams the earth it will rise to a beautiful day and a set temperature of 54F.

CHANNEL: High tide makes it hard to catch the good slides as a lot of paddling is going to occur.  Macho current with a washy set of waves. When the sun starts to drop the flow of the water shall be calming itself from the last storm. An act of waist to shoulder high waves will make any board ride able.

PATCH: As the NW swell settles it hits more of the Patch today making it surf-able every whereLoggers settle the score as there's slow but sturdy rides are available

Scary scenes with the high tide smashing and slamming against the wall and murky water flying and flooding up the boat ramp. When the high tide washes away, sets will be coming in nice and fast as a good sunset section will take place. Larger NW swell continues to take no prisoners and the stakes remain high.  It's now 45F outside and a nice 54F in the water proper.

CHANNEL: Too much water taking over today with nice glassy rides but with some slop due to high tide. Afternoon when the water flushes its system out there should be reason to ride any type of board.

PATCH:  Some waves roll in but most are in the Channel as this swell angle does not hit the Patch as well as some would like. If the Channel seems too big for you the Patch is perfect for you with slow sluggish rides and some style that follows.

Liquid falling from the sky while the high tide floods the ramp.  Water flushes back out smashing and splashing its way over the rock wall as a big NW swell remains in charge.  Lightly windy and fairly choppy going with 54F in the milky / murky waters and a solid 50F outside. Just waiting for the storm to eventually end as the swell will stick around and make a surf day for those with experience.  For now we all Try Wait.

CHANNEL: Too many waves overriding the playing field as they're all slamming together and making a big pile of sloppy joes for lunch.

PATCH:  You can try if you like but expect a fall and slamming with a strong current that can rip you right out to sea. A battered and bruised countenance overall and today is not the day for riding waves...
