Daily Surf Report - 12/31/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards." - Soren Kierkegaard

Initially forbidding skies now yielding towards blue as small pockets of rain wash the day clean. 44F and light NE winds keep it simple. Deep exhalations as we ready ourselves to end another year and turn favorably to something new. Lingering and languishing NW swell fosters the resolve to seek stoke. Tides are high and higher with only evening low swings to contend with. Let today be the day to celebrate the wonder and beauty that surrounds.

CHANNEL: Only inner bar Mali-Bo rollers have the focused early energy as a committed duo dabbles and dances along. More a day of reflection rather than refraction as the current swell fades along with the year.

PATCH: Gracefully groomed peaks have most setting sights and destination accordingly. Thigh high right molded rollers are the offering and a loggers delight. Tides cover all and may eventually swallow the swell. Action is key with no delay.

Yet again we celebrate the sun with open arms. Wind is not as futile today but still remains and visits when unexpected. All water ways are accessible but that will change in minutes. Extreme tide swings still in play and affecting all that come to join. Soon it will be a paddler's race to something that can be shared, but slow and steady always wins.

CHANNEL: A group gathers here to sit and chat. Mostly waiting but can you make it worthwhile?

PATCH: Go or don't, that's the big question. Decide with your head, not your mind. Join the pack and resolve any problems you may have with a knee high slow roller. Beware of afternoon stones.

Daily Surf Report - 12/29/2016

HIGH WIND TODAY

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Knowledge will give you power, but character respect." - Bruce Lee

Gusty winds circle around the water but the air remains warm inland. Bright skies wake us from our dreams and lead us into the endless possibilities that await us today. Temperature feels oddly warm but nonetheless pleasant at 56F. Be thankful and take in the fruits of life today as the we fade deeper into winter but find a brief respite here today.

CHANNEL:  Not all that much to shout about. Extreme tide swings have the Channel confused and alone. Few inhabit this area waiting for further instruction.

PATCH: The high incoming tide on its last push. Beware of rocks in the afternoon, for now is the time. Wind is blowing and water is at knee level. Find a reason or don't, strike when the time is right, strike now.

Daily Surf Report - 12/28/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Accept who you are; and revel in it
." - Mitch Albom

Peaking NW swell moves up a few clicks to 305 degrees.  Temps have overnight frosty inclinations but now rise to 43F with zero winds and red/orange/green skies.  Many clans with ocean going plans are posted up and unloading their vessels of stoke.   A fine Winter day to be outside and wave offerings enough to temp even the most jaded slider.

CHANNEL:  Not quite feeling the love as in past few days as current angle of inception just missing the mark.  Still whomping fold-overs but more will close out than provide openings.  A bobbing pod seeking simple rights are mostly mesmerized by the overall beauty of the day.  Would it help if I got out and pushed?

PATCH: Saltwater salvation in random distributions.  Incoming tide helping with an extra push but soon will engulf and swamp.  A bit temperamental on the outside with the inner Snags developing speed, shape and form.  Social niceties are randomly observed with differing results in each case.  Wave height striving for waist to chest high measurements in best case scenarios.

Daily Surf Report - 12/27/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new
." - Albert Einstein

Diminished dew points mingle in the chill to frost all surfaces in a white crystal dusting.  The sun has risen upon pure skies and brought our early temps along and up to 36F.  Light winds and from the E again signal some potential warmth but also groomed facades.  New period NW swell builds and beckons those looking for more.  Incoming tide lends a hand for that extra push over the edge.  Water thermal reading holding steady and ready at 53F.

CHANNEL:

I'm wearin'
Fur pyjamas
I ride a
Hot Potata'
It's tickling my fancy
Speak up, I can't hear you

PATCH: Deep water deliveries have stand up paddlers scurrying along the outside reaches.  Middle territories prevail with modest rights and silky faces.  Rights working and reaching towards the waist have all loggers up wrangling and riding in the chilled out morning.

Daily Surf Report - 12/26/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You'll never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart
." - George Michael RIP

Moon slivers and cold shivers as icy inland temps start the day.  Beach climate welcomes with cleared skies and lighter NE winds now updating temps to 43F.  Gusty overnite gales, perhaps generated by Santa's sleigh, have put the textured tops on brimming high tide warbles.  Attempting to settle and solidify as new NW swell delves to replace the old.  If you didn't get all the presents opened yesterday what is left currently are the scaps.

CHANNEL: Stuffed full with tide and huffed out with nighttime winds.  Lookers and lurkers make quick decisions about donning suits as pickings remain slim, but the early lineups are empty.  A few inside Mali-Bo rights entice with the last of the incoming tide push.  Whoever wants to have it solo style can and will - but for how long.

PATCH: Dropping off and out as the NW fades and awaits reinforcements.  A bit of S wind-swell offers only glances and glimpses. Only on the inside do waves reach folding levels.  You gotta have faith.

Daily Surf Report - 12/24/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving ." - Og Mandino

A drop in temp and size as NW forces continue to decay.  Another 1" of rainfall soaks hills and allows for greenery to flourish.  Now the storm has passed and winds have ceased in order to foster groomed watery surfaces.  38F air and cold, damp roads.  Gentle blue skies that do not weep.  High tide on the rebound and good tidings and joy to all those partaking in briny solutions.

CHANNEL: Shifted sandbars still seeking final alignment seem to work better on less swell.  The opportunity for form and function to coordinate exists with waist high + rollers seeking sliders.  Lessened water levels should help the shape a bit moreFor now, throw tradition out the window and ride how you like.

PATCH: Softened hues above and slinky glides below.  Full of water and burgeoning with non-shoppers.  A holiday log-fest and the invite says bring the big stick.  Thigh / waist high deliveries with orders to get the gifts out by the end of the day.
