Daily Surf Report - 3/31/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"We're on the cutting edge of reality itself. Right where it turns into a dream." - Denis Johnson

A dense and complex cloud cover is only beginning to give way as we rage against the dying of the swell(with apologies) this morning. An oddly warm 54 degrees and surprising lack of humidity as hooded figures carry logs and eggs towards the concrete and re-bar that are the entrance to a field of broken dreams. Conditions are due to change from one moment to the next today friends, so be mindful and respectful, or you may be served a reminder of exactly who is in charge...

CHANNEL:  Though currently void of sliders, this corner may have been abandoned too soon, as the patient and just amongst us are finding hidden gems. Not the shapes of lore or bar room legend, but merely solid thigh high rollers holding the inside for multiple seconds. This should benefit somewhat as the tide fills in, but as the winds begin to unravel the afternoon, expect merely the chop, flop, and slop...

PATCH:   A pinch of this and a pinch of that to taste, as the ingredients are in the water, but clearly in the hands of an amateur chef, as inconsistency and lack of shape, yet not power, rules the morn. A half-dozen are exploring the depths, with some finding stoke, however temporary. Again, not much height in this region, but with some determination comes a smile. Alas, like all things, change is on the horizon, and the early hours seem the time to make a feast from the scraps, as those provisions may have to sustain you for days. Watch the charts and watch the knots, and get in WHEN you fit in...

Daily Surf Report - 3/30/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Time held me green and dying, though I sang in my chains like the sea." - Dylan Thomas

A heady mix of fine mist, streaked sunlight, and a resilient NW swell are to be found upon investigation this morning. A chilly 48 degrees, but with a rising mercury. Parking areas are closing in on capacity, as a small platoon are getting it in before the wind, which is already on it's way and will be a major ingredient in the stew as the hours pass.

CHANNEL:  As we come upon the morning high tide, there is much revelry and rejoicing as conditions are proving enjoyable to the seasoned eye. Though not as consistent as it can be, now is the time to ride, as solid chest high rollers with an enviable shape are being ridden for yards, not feet. Access is rapidly becoming challenging, but worth a little rock to get up on the roll. Get in now if you can, and take a small crowd as the price of admission, as Gaia will not continue to emit such glory as the afternoon progresses.

PATCH:   A surprisingly thin line-up upon early observation, until one takes into account that the rising zephyrs are already beginning to effect the outside of our dear patch. Not showing the beauty she possessed this weekend, there are nonetheless many prizes on the table. Though signs of inconsistency are cracking through the thin veneer of perfection, clearly the wind will play havoc in the coming hours. Know when to strike my friends, for the hour is here.

Daily Surf Report - 3/29/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain." -Bob Marley

The swell is in! Sun is out and so are the waves. Current temp is 52F and growing. Pack all of your beach goodies because you'll be here all day. Our beautiful little beach is packed with smiling faces in and out of the water. Parking is already nil with no visible spots open but plenty of opportunity to get creative. You won't need your crystal to get lucky today but bring it along anyway for full potential.

CHANNEL:  Swells colliding making it difficult to cope with. Not much here as of now, but can be rideable with a log. Knee high but too soft. Water needs to drop and clear out a bit. Should shape up as the day does and grow from the seed of high hopes.

PATCH:   Right out front the boat ramp pumping this morning with waist-chest high rollers coming in with some nice lefts. Crowded here but its worth the fight to catch one. Patch is working as well about the same. Long rides available here for the price of bumping elbows. Work for your waves and respect the ones who catch it first. SW swell working well for us today. Like yesterday will be heavily populated throughout the day.

Daily Surf Report - 3/28/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"I accept that there may be things far grander and more incomprehensible than we can possibly imagine." - Richard Dawkins

Now sun / no wind / 52F and a grandiose day begins.  All the ingredients are in place for an EPIC beach adventure. Earlier headlamps beamed while the star-lite collective dodged bats and spiders to reap early rewards and set the tone for the morning.  New long period SW swell continues to fill and hold steady today.  Still a touch of NW in the water as well to keep things honest and working in both spots.  Frothing surfers are multiplying exponentially like bacteria as parking dwindles and lineups swell in size.  Peaking tide gives lots of water to move around and beach access remains at all locations.  Let the pull of the ocean guide you today and be your mentor in all aquatic activities.

CHANNEL:  The combo swells are working yet not aligned for perfection.  Still a decent amount of surf in the waist high size to push limits and set new goals.  Mainly lefts off the Groin bar and over towards the boat ramp show the most shape and promise.  Sectioned here and there but still a thick lineup of mixed water craft from SUPs to fish and everything in between.  Seadrift rights showing some spray and blowback causing an exploration posse to seek the goods across the Channel.  Plenty for everyone and some extra as well.

PATCH:   Smooth and consistent even in the dark.  High water levels has everyone spread out and all boulders beneath.  Size grows towards chest + with waist high or better being the norm rather than the exception today.  Pulsing with peaks and high probability of multiple long rides.  Outside past the meeting rock has a crew of loggers waiting for the sets to arrive.  Lefts and rights off this wave have nice drops but also a flat spot that causes rapid speed loss.  Midway is where the hot-curl action is with pitching rollers that hold form, shape and speed as they blaze along to the shore.   Easy to get your fill and a bunch more as well.  The lineup is thick as thieves and expected to become enhanced throughout the day.

Daily Surf Report - 3/27/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Everything you can imagine is real." - Pablo Picasso

A grey mist and associated fog hangs overhead this morning.  Tamping down the wind and keeping ocean surfaces glassy and welcoming.  No sun at this time but likely will make an appearance.  Temp is pleasant at 53F and all signs point positively for a day of surf. NW windswell lingers while the SW swell grows and travels up the coast.  Pulsing and peaking with the early morning high tide.  The vampire crew scores and dawn patrollers as well.  Use your third eye to see things more clearly and wipe away all negativity from your surroundings today.

CHANNEL:  Water levels are perfect and the combo swells are breaking off surf in the thigh to waist high size with mostly Groin bar lefts and the occasional Channel right.  The mid-length and shortboard sect is on it early but energy mostly lacking for smaller boards so far.  Longboards will succeed where others fail and rides to the sand are within grasp.

PATCH:   Seething swell as the new SW begins to pop off peaks on the outside.  Size has growing potential and was measured on the PMouse scale at chest high with consistency at waist +.  Glassy ocean and all the components for a surf day are in play now.  A notable absence of hand held paddles leaves the lineup logger dominated and spread out.  Midway peaks reel off through the Snags and fly towards the shore.  Stylistic surfing has been observed through the mist and open faces with connections are the norm.

Daily Surf Report - 3/26/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy." -Saadi

A welcoming sun beams down upon the village and bathes it in a warm and healing glow.  The positivity is thick and pervasive this morning and not a soul encountered wears a frown today.  Temp breaks in at 52F and no wind is to be felt or witnessed.  Water borne activities are on the agenda as pulses produce some popping peaks.  NW windswell remains - though fading and a new SW groundswell begins its journey up the coast.  See things through a different light today.  Modify perspective and hold your truth close to your heart.

CHANNEL:  Tide heading low and taking the waves with it as size stays steady but only knee high.  Pesky lefts off the Groin bar and rideable waves out in front of the boat ramp have longboards bouncing and reeling shoreward on the micro-peelers.  Now the getting is get-able but soon there won't be enough water to slide upon.  Evening does hold much promise as the new SW swell fills in.

PATCH:   Here the new SW swell is beginning to show as water levels drain and surfers battle time and Mother Nature to catch rides before the rocks take over.  This battle will soon be won by lack of water and exposed bottom.  It is loggable and on for now and a pool party of a baker's dozen are enjoying the day at it's finest. Size runs up to thigh high with right facing slide pieces.

Daily Surf Report - 3/25/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"When we are not sure, we are alive." - Graham Greene

Though a dense fog holds over much of the surrounding area, those in our village have reason to rejoice as a beaming and glorious sun shines down. A bit of brisk wind still finds it's way from the sea, and temps are on the rise. Current conditions are functional, but there is a sense of optimism and joy upon the faces of those attempting slides this morning, as once past the mid-morning low, the day has the makings of a solid spring afternoon to pursue one's favorite water activities.

CHANNEL:  As had been the case the last several mornings, lack of volume is this main issue here, although more shape than other days have provided. As the gusts die down and the water adds to the far outside, expect the WNW swell the fill in for slide-able shapes to emerge.

PATCH:  Exposed rocks and exposed paddles are in the mix this morning, with more bodies headed into the fray. Much like the channel, volume is needed to make for more action, but it should be on today's agenda. Align your chakras and cleanse the Ajna, as the third eye will be your guide for slides and rides...

Daily Surf Report - 3/24/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:  "You begin with the possibilities of the material."-Robert Rauschenberg

A fine mist falls steadily, covering the village in moisture and wisps of fog as we find the temps hovering around the 55 degree mark. It's the kind of morning that brings an unsettled vibe and the anticipation of Log Lady sightings. Yards of yards of beach are visible in all directions and the rocks and stones are making themselves known. Only three of the most disciplined are in the depths this morning, but it appears they are practicing a quiet meditation, as no sliding is observed. Remember, the owls are not what they seem.

CHANNEL:     Far too little water mixed with gusting winds is making this a desolate and forlorn part of the shoreline this morning, as even the far outside has little to no activity. There is a window of opportunity as the tide pushes in, so conditions should improve, but temper your expectations with a heavy dash of realism...

PATCH:   Similar conditions with more reason for optimism as we gaze into the windswept waters of the patch. A watchful eye will be as mandatory as a wetsuit on a morning as this. Rocks and inconsistency are your enemies. As stated previously, there should be room for improvement as the day continues, so read the charts and be mindful of your surroundings.

Daily Surf Report - 3/23/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Help each other. Love everyone. Every leaf. Every ray of light. Forgive." - Terrence Malick

A ring of sun is breaking through the mist and haze as we find 54 degrees and rising winds here in the BO. Though access is plentiful, the findings are meager at best. The remaining W swell is trying to work some magic, but the water levels are currently acting as a deterrent. As the tide pushes in, things look to improve. Sitting in a quiet repose and a balanced appreciation is best advised until then.

CHANNEL:  Little to none. Ankle biters breaking only on the far outside left. The good news is you would have it all to yourself.

PATCH:  Though the multitudes and bringing paddle and voluminous boards, they scrap and scrape for only the most meager of offerings this morning. Water levels look to better the possibility of sliding as the afternoon comes into view.

Daily Surf Report - 3/22/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny." - Bob Marley

Clouds hovering over our little town this morning and keeping the sunshine out. Tons of beach available today. Take advantage of this rare occasion. The water is still feeling warm for this time of year and the outside temp is close to the water temp at 57F. Clouds may burn away in the afternoon but hard to say for sure. Enjoy the fog and get no tan.

CHANNEL:     Low tide in affect. Very shallow in Mali-Bo but still see a few heads bobbing in wait for more water. Choppy and small, not looking ideal. Biggest at the moment coming in at waist high but crumbling under the pressure of high hopes. Mushy and inconsistent.

PATCH:   Choppy here too, rough waters all along our sweet beach. Crowds building here, more consistent than not and SUPs outnumber surfers by 80%. Knee+ here but still rideable through the white water. Love your mother and come enjoy the nature. Tide is out enough to explore. Bring your metal detector and fanny pack but leave your sunscreen.

Daily Surf Report - 3/21/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment." - Lao Tzu

Take off your tin foil hat and roam freely today on wide open expanses of beach.  Interpret this phenomena as a positive omen of things to come.  Alien contact is unlikely but an uptick in swell would be a welcome vibe.  W/NW windswell is holding while the S swell builds.  Major tidal swings will be a limiting factor today as early morning has none and afternoon maybe too much water.  Plot and plan properly as surf windows will open and close with little notice.  Skies are blue and clearing with wisps of mountain fog and sun rising over the vast hills.  Wind remains calm and morning temp is already 56F.  A fine beach day in the making with surf possibilities a distinct maybe.

CHANNEL:  Morning low tide fighting its way back has sandbars exposed and micro-slideable surf of the knee high variety.  Sectioned lefts and longer rights are being ridden off the Groin pole bar.  A peek at Mali-Bo reveals potential but not enough water yet as depths reach ankle deep.  A visit to Seadrift may yield rewards as the water is a bit deeper there and visible rights looked to reel along towards the upper echelon housing.  Size and shape should improve as the tide fills in then peaks to swamp things out and shut down production.  Mind the afternoon outgoing rip as it can clean up the surf but also take you on an a journey south against your will.

PATCH:   Smooth and glassy yet very small wave poppers as rocks dominate the landscape presently.  A sweet little inside right of thigh high proportions is there for the taking and those in the know.  Outside past the meeting rock an intermittent wave can be heard calling for riders of which there are currently none of the paddle-less tribe.  If the S swell is for real it will show best here but will need more water which takes some time.  Tune in to the solar vibrations and set your crystal directional finder on high to achieve optimum performance.

Daily Surf Report - 3/20/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"The spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!" - Sitting Bull

The Vernal Equinox is upon us and we welcome Spring with moderate temps and partially overcast skies.  We will also have a super moon tonight which is good for crystal cleansing and spiritual awakening.  Winds remain light and temp remains 49F on this fine Marin morning.  Parking is slim and ocean offerings the same yet purposeful movement towards the ocean is occurring.  More of the same swell-wise with a holding W/NW windswell and small background S in play to keep it lively and spread out.  Tide and spirits are on the rise and the day won't be complete without a dip in the sea.

CHANNEL:  A steely grey light unblemished upon the ocean surface.  Tide inching its way back and bringing the extra push needed to get mid-length boards flowing.  Off the Groin pole there are rights into the Channel and sectioned lefts as well.  The inside Mali-Bo wave shows promise and potential but still requires a bigger board.  Size is a mix with best heights pushing waist high and others down to the thigh.  There are smooth waves to ride and surfing always trumps watching in our book.

PATCH:   Profoundly calm and full of morning surfers as the day gets rolling along.  Loggers and SUPs dominate this area and conversation is thick as wave periods show long intervals.  The tide fill covers the rocks and puts the Snags on the map as small knee high rights pulse through.  Mostly mid-way the congregation sits and waits for thigh high peaks to pop and roll along.  Outside is sweeper delight as they jockey and joust for supremacy on mystical waves of no consequence that disappear as quickly as they materialize.

Daily Surf Report - 3/19/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say." - Bryant H McGill

A chill and foggy morning with sunshine efforts in the works.  Moderate at 49F and no wind to ruffle feathers or chop seas.  Shaping up to be glorious in most respects.  Offerings are available although not always obvious.  Conditions bumped up a bit as a somewhat chunky W/NW windswell and small background S are making their energy felt today.  Morning low tide is filling in and that should spice up the mix as well.  The day belongs to those that take it and ocean dwelling should be on the list of activities today.

CHANNEL:  Bright sunshine causing squinting eyes yet through the slits we envision waist high lefts on this shallow morning.  A tight knit pod of surfers take turns with slides and glides possible from the Groin bar to the inside.  Low water levels will not leave you with much exit runway but the rides are fun and fairly consistent.  Outside in the Channel proper requires more water and Seadrift always likes to consider a NW windswell and therfore so should you.

PATCH:   As water levels fill and rocks recede this spot is seeing a steady migration of neoprene clad titans with long spears and single fins.  A spread out contingent of early morning loggers are already in place and the rides so far are smooth in appearance if not mighty in stature.  Waves are forming in the nearly waist high size and gliding is the name of the game today.  Point your steed north and ride with purpose.

Daily Surf Report - 3/18/2015

We are closed every Wednesday for the month of February but we will re-open this Thursday at 10AM

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." - Leo Tolstoy

A misty morning with gusty cross winds and 52 degrees as we gaze out to sea. That same wind is spitting off the crests off the few waves observed, and the offerings are minimal. As is the custom, there are the dedicated, the desperate, and a handful of others making their way into uncertain conditions, but the findings are meager.

CHANNEL: Though providing mellow knee-high rollers to the far outside of the marker this morning, wind seems to be the greatest obstacle to this attempting slides in this area. Shapes with some consistency are seen, though with whitewater stew as a topping, and both form and power are lacking as of now. As the water recedes, ye olde channel may make some slider's day, but that will be mid-afternoon, if at all...

PATCH:   Tis an unusual sight to see even the farthest reaches of the patch without those attempting slides, but such is the case this fine morning. No rollers of any consequence are observes, and an overall lack of movement seems to be the issue. This space may not be the place today, but keep a watchful eye, as better days lie just ahead...

Daily Surf Report - 3/17/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him through temporary periods of joy." - W.B. Yeats

Daily Surf Report - 3/16/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." - Samuel Beckett

A determined cloud cover allowing beams of sun to shine only begrudgingly as we find the mercury already at a temperate 58 degrees and rising. Though it looks as the clouds will be with us, opportunities for sliding may not be. Though the most determined slivers of the recent S swell are observed this morning, they are largely dependent on the tide, and as she recedes into the late morning, so do the hopes of those gathered.

CHANNEL: Mixed blessings are today's special as we gaze towards the marker this misty morning, as glassy surfaces and calm winds are making for easy access, and the single slider out and about this morning is catching slides of some length, although they are taking their time in-between, and overall power is lacking. Get in now, if you can, as this early morning may be the best opportunity to cleanse and renew.

PATCH:   The only activity is far to the outside as a clustered group of a half-dozen bob and weave and practice a monk's patience. That resolve is being rewarded, although with shorter intervals than are the standard patch fare. Again, all action is largely based on the current high-tide, so temper expectations until later this afternoon, but know that there are offerings currently, so make the most if you can....

Daily Surf Report - 3/15/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll

Patchy skies with streaks of red, green and gold as we clear sleep from our eyes and greet a new day.  Opportunities are abundant and positivity is on the upswing.  Leave regrets and troubles at the door and dive headfirst into a fresh beginning with no boundaries.  Temp is ahead of the game and cruising in at 55F.  Looking for more warmth and sunshine to keep things bright and cheery.  Fading swells signal the end of the weekend.  Dying embers of NW and S swells offering up cherished memories of lost love.  Though we yearn for more we accept the day's fate and ride like no tomorrow.  A beach day is upon us and although the surf is small the energy is large and that can be enough to set things right.

CHANNEL: Dropping tide and ripping currents have this place textured and a bit choppy.  Still a few surfers endeavoring to find a piece of wave heaven upon which to lay claim.  Thigh + sized waves with no particular directional preference are available and short waves are the norm for now.  Afternoon tide push should clean up the mess but diminishing swells will keep things on the micro-slide side.

PATCH:   Outside pop up peaks luring a thick crowd out towards the depths beyond the meeting rock.  Those waves have waist high + options but quickly fade.  Mid-way we find a refurbished wave that reforms and runs right as it heads towards shore.  Size dips a bit but length and consistency makes up for it.  Lunch time tide drop will shut this down but for now cruising surf is here for the masses.  Evening glass-off and incoming tide should make for a special way to end the weekend.  Keep hopes and dreams alive here today.

Daily Surf Report - 3/14/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"None but ourselves can free our minds."- Bob Marley

Crystal clear skies today opening up the day for endless opportunity. Warm day ahead of us staring now at 55F but the sun is casting warmth on our little town already. Clear waters that are not so choppy, making for a beautiful day to get in the water. Pack a lunch, positivity and your smile because today is a perfect beach day.

CHANNEL: Plenty of beach at the moment all over but especially here. Small waves breaking to the right of the groin pole but mostly working towards the middle of the beach. Right out front of the boat ramp working both to the left and right with knee high rollers. Not coming in so quick but good for a lazy Saturday ride / slide / glide.

PATCH:   Crowds building everywhere but most highly populated in the Patch. Consistent waist high waves breaking nicely drawing the attention of all. Looking good out there and could stay that way for a while. May look even better with more water but hard to say for sure. Join the mass and start your day with mid to high hopes.

Daily Surf Report - 3/13/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress." - Mahatma Gandhi

Wisps of fog in the trees and clearing skies at the beach bring us a festive morning full of promise.  Air is clean and temp is 51F at this moment.  Winds are light to nil making for a smooth ocean surface upon which to gaze and ride.  Sand has returned and so has our beach so access to all dimensions is available.  Mixture of close period NW windswell and a little taste of SW adds to the micro brew today.  Some spots like it better than others but all will offer up opportunities to glide today.

CHANNEL: Lots of beach and tide ripping low has the Channel hopped up and chopped up with very little discernible shapes upon which to sled.  Boat ramp action still showing life with thigh high mini waves that still have enough water levels to allow for waves to break.  This spot will need to chill for a tidal turnaround and clean up with the attempt to lure surfers out.  For now - Try Wait.

PATCH:   A passionate contingent of loggers are out as the early high tide and current swell directions are aligned to deliver today.  Nearly waist high smoothness is being exhibited in the Patch and all comers are riding waves of near consequence.  Outside past the meeting rock the journey begins yet the midway mark and into the Snags shows the most excitement and possibility for speed and turns.  About 12 surfers on it now and for good reason.  Join the masses and add to the fun times.
