Daily Surf Report - 2/28/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with." - WC Fields

Magnificent day in many respects with chill air coming in at 47F.  Clear skies and sunshine above and minor puffs of wind not adversely effecting the vibe.  Birds do chirp a hopeful song and if expectations are kept extremely low they may be met or exceeded today.  Still battling the factor of not much ocean swell with NW windswell and an emerging S swell attempting to procreate and display wave offspring.   Deep high tide just recently peaked keeping it slow but accessible right now.  Use the third eye to see beyond reality and follow it to the waves of satisfaction.

CHANNEL:  A few rolly-polly lumps coming in with intentions of breaking with right hand slides.  Most continue to flow towards shore unbroken and those that bend and fold reveal knee high waves with less than lengthy sophistication.  The ocean is glistening and beautifully glassy just lacking the wherewithal to generate much in terms of rideable surf.  There are heads bobbing around the water and furious paddling attempts have yielding short but sweet endings.

PATCH:   Shin burners and hair curlers as the Patch shows wide open expanses of unruffled ocean surface.  The semi-occasional right has been observed with heights best measured in inches rather than feet.  No takers at this time but lots of lookers on the wall plotting and planning on the perfect strike.  Let nature be your guide to outdoor endeavors with watery pursuits possibly later in the day.

Daily Surf Report - 2/27/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power." - William James

Serenity Now as we experience utter peace and tranquility this morning.  A good day to be contemplative or sit on the sea wall and gaze to the far horizons.  Mind meld the conditions and imagine the wonderful possibilities of being a 6" tall human.  Temp slinks in at 54F with some underlying NW winds.  Overcast and unsettled times are upon us today.  Just NW windswell and very little of that.  Maybe a small hint of a background S swell on the buoys but next to nothing showing wave wise and nearly un-surfable at this time.

CHANNEL:  Lake-like conditions with just 2 stand tall paddlers surveying the surface.  Currently best for touring and exploring but no waves to ride are evident.  Inside shore break mini tubes are worth watching but likely not surfing.  Out front at the Boat Ramp yields the only glimmer of hope, soon to be invaded by hordes of teens attempting to ride their first wave and throw shakas.  Let this be your morning visual and wait for better conditions in the future.

PATCH:   No rulers to take accurate measurements but keen estimation reveals occasional ankle high waves in the middle Patch.  We'll call it jankle as our term of endearment.  Longing looks and hopeful prayers may summon a vision of hope but likely not going to respond to our desires today.

Daily Surf Report - 2/26/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Knowledge will give you power, but character gives respect." - Bruce Lee

Sweet and serene morning with spectacular sunshine upon us.  Temp in at 52F with currently no wind but predicted to change later.  Only a moderate NW windswell in play to deliver waves but there is just enough to entice and the day is stunning in many respects.  Early morning tide peak is on the way out leaving lots of beach access and rapidly diminishing water levels.  Strike while the iron is hot and hit in now or forever hold your peace when you arrive late.

CHANNEL:  Hide and seek lefts intermittently appearing off the Groin bar and seeking riders and solace in the shallows.  Weak and small with size ranging nearly up to thigh high but there is something worth logging if you dare.  Boat ramp waves directly out front still making an effort for supremacy and 2 shortboard wonder-stars are trying their luck upon waist high wave dumps.

PATCH:   Knee high and clean with an earlier logger maximizing the potential.  Bobs and weaves, tip to the nose and solitary cruises heading right show this wave to be small but worthy or riding.  Water levels still remain positive with just a few rock tips starting to emerge.  Follow the early lead and ride this wave.

We are closed every Wednesday for the month of February but we will re-open this Thursday at 10AM

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"A somebody was once a nobody who wanted to and did." - John Burroughs

A slight chill hangs in the morning air as we find 43 degrees currently with stunningly clear skies and only a mellow zephyr blowing. As we gaze out towards the ocean, a large swath of beach is visible and access is prime, but very low water levels are making for only minimal rollers as of now. As the tide comes in, there may be a window of opportunity, so consult your favorite oracle, align your chi, and look towards the luncheon hour...

CHANNEL:  Ankle biters and no sliders as we look left from the ramp. The current water level has the groin pole on a sandy beach, and little more is evident as of now. More water and power is what we seek...

PATCH:   Lonely knee high shapes rolling slowly towards exposed rock currently. Ye olde patch should provide more favorable sights to be seen later in the day, but not as of yet. Keep a watchful eye on the tides and clock, and fortify yourself this morning with strong tea and positivity...

Daily Surf Report - 2/23/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:

"The purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things." - Maria Rilke

Brisk winds blow through the quiet streets and are greeted by 50 degrees and clear skies this fine morning. Those same breezes, however, are mixing with very low water levels to make for less than ideal conditions. Watch the tides with a full soul and open heart, as more volume may provide shapes for sliding, but the wind continues to be the largest variable. It is another day of beauty here, but perhaps not one made for slides and rides.

CHANNEL:  Wind strewn whitewater and chop with little volume pushing in as there are many yards of sand visible this morning. The gulls and pelicans are the only forms observed taking rides. Look for higher waters to bring some shape, but alas, nothing of size is projected.

PATCH:   A half dozen souls, mostly those with paddles in hand, are seen this AM, but even they are finding rides few and far between, as they dance between the crags and exposed rocks. They few rollers seen to have a solid shape to them, but there is little power to push towards the shore. A solid eye may find slides here later in the day, so be vigilant.

Daily Surf Report - 2/22/2015

(TOBY)

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Don't gain the world and lose your soul; wisdom is better than silver or gold." - Bob Marley

Chilly and crisp starting the morning today. 50F and crystal clear skies. The day is looking to warm up nicely for a perfect beach day. Strange tide at work right now, the only rideable surf coming from right out front the boat ramp. About knee to maybe waist high and changing with the incoming tide. Good day to bring a log but if you do not have one the sea has provided plenty of drift wood to ride instead. Looks like an over all lovely day for the beach.  Set your sights on the farthest horizon and follow all your dreams today.

CHANNEL:  Not enough water in the channel right now to do much, White water crumbling in around the groin pole. Should shape up later in the day with some easy riders but as of now there is no sign of life.

PATCH:  Not so much here either, rocks peeking and feeling lonely. Only action in the water is right out front. Will likely spread across to the patch later when the water fills in after the high tide.

Daily Surf Report - 2/21/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly." - Langston Hughes

A cool, calm and collected vibe permeates the town today as the air is crystal clear and the temp slinks in at 45F.  Blue skies dominate the atmosphere above and birds sing a morning song of hopeful joy.  Winds are nil leaving a smooth ocean canvas with micro-lines upon the surface.  A small but long period S swell is trying to make its presence known and felt today.  Low water levels are playing havoc with the efforts but the turnaround is in place and tide push will help.  Still a touch of NW windswell remaining to keep everyone honest.  Waves can be had if you practice patience and persistence today.

CHANNEL:  A bit chopped as the tide hits low.  Now filling in but will need a few contemplative moments to compose itself.  More water is needed but the swell is in place to allow for small lefts off the Groin bar that should shape up throughout the day.  Now just in the almost knee high size and dominated by too much sand and not enough liquid.  Still have the boat ramp wave action to keep an eye on.  Mind the deep high tide which will swamp it out then the outgoing rip which will tear it the shreds.  Timing is everything today.

PATCH:  Calf burners and rocky outcroppings are the early morning rewards.  Needs a few hours of incoming tide to shake things up and settle things down.  Now lots of beach access for Corgi walks and treasure hunting.  S swell will show here today and loggers delight is quite possibly in play.  Huddle with a warm morning beverage now and watch the tide fill in.

Daily Surf Report - 2/20/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"We fear things in proportion to our ignorance of them." - Christian Nestell Bovee

In-between days as the fog tamps the wind down but the swell has retreated.  We are left with only a fading S and a hint of NW windswell to contend with.  Overcast and foggy but temperate at 54F.  Glassy ocean and smooth but maybe a bit too glassy for surfing pursuits.  Still a few waves to hunt and seek just not in the usual spots.  Find the happy place to set the positivity flowing.  Layer in some joy and love for good measure and start your day with a smiling face.

CHANNEL:  Smooth with small surf as tide begins to flow back in.  Low water levels make access a breeze but not much swell to push the aqua around.  Knee high lefts fire off the Groin bar with feather-like ferocity.  Big boards can make it work but the rewards are currently short traveled and short lived.  Out in front of the boat ramp rears a wave from unfathomable depths to come breaking upon a motley crew of early morning wave sliders.  Options include lefts and rights.  Size shows waist high potential.  Length is best imagined then witnessed in person.

PATCH:  Getting off to a slow start and needing a morning espresso to wake up.  Low tide starting to fill in and swell activity remains palpable yet minimal.  Micro-slider waves that push up to ship-stern knee crunching heights are being observed but mostly not ridden.  More water will be the key component here today and the extra tide push may tip the scales in favor of an afternoon glide.

Daily Surf Report - 2/19/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." - T. S. Eliot

Peaks and valleys as the tide plays roller coaster roundup today.  Coastal overcast and a calm chill vibe emits an energy palpable over the town this morning.  No winds, 54F and a glassy ocean is out there for the adventurous soul.  A bit of combo action as SW swell + N windswell join forces and offer up some wave possibilities today.  Incoming tide getting the water levels just right but mind the high peak as it will swamp out then the outgoing rips and will take you on a journey less desirable than most.

CHANNEL:  Smoothness with the occasional thigh / waist high left roller coming through at the Groin bar.  Incoming tide also starting to push into Mali-Bo and micro rights are emerging there to be ridden by the fortunate few.  3 glider sliders are on it early.  A boat ramp wave also exists for the quick drop and turn run with lefts or rights with minimal yardage to travel.  Get it now before the lunch time peak washes everything away and makes access a diplomatic mess.

PATCH:  As the morning tide pushes in waves are developing mid-way out in the Patch.  Rights that rear up as first then allow for the smooth cruise are being ridden by a motley logger crew.  More water will equal more waves and push the peak outside as well.  For now there are rides to be had and size runs up to waist high +.  Fate may be your guide today but keep the Patch on your radar.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"We are afraid of the enormity of the possible." - Emile M. Cioran

A chilly mist hangs over the village this morning, as light onshore breezes blow up the avenues and the thermometer seems stuck at 55 degrees. A quiet desperation hangs over the boat ramp as eyes scan the horizon for shadows and movement. Alas, as of now, the sea reveals very little, and tells even less. There is reason for some ray of hope, as less water may benefit our shoreline, but that remains to be seen. The morning should be spent with classic literature, an adored companion, and good tea...

CHANNEL:  Less like an ocean, and more like a moat...Little activity of merit is seen, and as we approach peak tide, water levels are too high for even the most needy of sliders to be out and about.

PATCH:  As is becoming a trend, this may be the only possibility this fine day. As the water recedes into the luncheon hour, shapes of some variety should be seen, but observe with care, as the window for sliding may be small today. Check the charts with a full heart and optimistic eye...

Daily Surf Report - 2/16/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:

"If you can talk brilliantly about a problem, it can create the consoling illusion that it has been mastered." - Stanley Kubrick

Another day in paradise as we find a clear 50 degrees with minimal SW winds blowing through town. Currently conditions reveal too much water and not enough power, as if after a winter storm. Small and inconsistent rollers are being observed, and intermittently ridden, but currently the offerings are few and far between. However, as the waters recede as the morning develops, offerings may be more plentiful.

CHANNEL: A few soldiers in the army of SUPs are making something from nothing on the far side of the pole this AM, but the only loggers were observed making their way towards the shore using only swinging arms and shoulders. Knee-high mellowness mixed with far too much H2O makes for patient observation.

PATCH:  Our beloved patch does hold more possibilities this morning and as the day continues, as a baker's dozen of logs and SUPs are out and about. Though not much in height, the rollers are holding shape nicely, and long rides are being taken. Keep a close watch on the patch, as she should remain solid, if short in stature.

Daily Surf Report - 2/15/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." - Lao Tzu

Beautiful day in Bolinas. Sunshine warming up the day at 56F and increasing quickly. Some nice beach visible but hard to obtain. Water up against the wall right now but should leave some walking room later with the low tide. Pack your smiles, your crystals, your positive attitude and your shorts, looking like a great beach day.

CHANNEL: The morning sunlight is reflecting of the water but not providing much power. Outgoing tide messing with the conditions slightly but will most like shape up later in the day. As of now, inconstant knee high rollers strolling through. Not the cleanest but like we said before, should shape up.

PATCH:  Glassy and looking good. Knee high and possibly growing. SUP and longboard friendly. Not too hard to get out there, a short journey across the sea wall will have you in the water in no time. Like the Channel could get better in the early afternoon hours when the tide starts to crawl back up shore.

Daily Surf Report - 2/14/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Love has no age, no limit; and no death." - John Galsworthy

Charming day as we celebrate the martyr, Saint Valentine. A good day to expose your soul and let the one you love know how important they are and how much better your world is with them in it.  A great day for wave cravers and wave slayers, wave lovers and sun worshipers, heart breakers and money makers.  A quiet and hushed morning with only chirping birds and the siren call of the ocean beckoning you to enter.  The draw is dynamic and irresistible and impairs your senses completely.  Still a bit of the W swell hanging around but returns are starting to diminish.  Like in life, nothing lasts forever.  Still a spectacular day to be at the beach and amongst the forming and fomenting crowds as they jockey for waves to love and ride.  Tide has recently peaked so high water levels keeping it a bit soft.  Sunny and 54F now and will warm dramatically.

CHANNEL:  Improved from yesterday and waiting for the clean waves will pay off.  Smooth and thirsty lefts off the Groin bar have shape and holding power to make long rides and turns a plenty a reality.  Other waves are sectioned and patchy with areas that close out and less workable lines.  Size ranges up to waist / chest with the higher tide.  Outgoing tide should accelerate things a bit and cause some throttling up in shape and energy.  Outside deeper peaks are good for longboards and the inner waves are ripe for eggs and Simmons.  Find the wave of your dreams and the love of your life here today.

PATCH:  Remains smooth and peaky with the tide just past full.  All rocks are covered so use the boils as your guide to the area.  Still an adventurous journey to reach but outgoing tide will make regular walking access possible later.   Now waves are waist high and glideable on the outside.  Logs and SUPs are battling for supremacy and graceful lines are being drawn by the victors.  Inside peaks still are racy just lacking the full power punch of days past.  Enough water covers the toothy Snags so set you sights on the horizon and drop in with abandon.   It is love at first sight here today and should have waves to ride all day.

Daily Surf Report - 2/13/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Freedom lies in being bold." - Robert Frost

Moon slivers and slight shivers as early morning temp is 52F.  Already warming again with NE breezes like hot breath on your neck.  Streaky skies are now clear and full of sunshine.  Get that vitamin D going for the rosy glow and nice pinkish hue.  NW swell has peaked and is delivering the goods.  Tide has peaked and maxed out so lots of water to move around.  It's on for surfing and the ride and glide club is out in full effect.  Grab your stick of choice and get it wet.

CHANNEL: Still pulsing with life and fat rollers on the sets.  Wide troughs of water making for split peaks but not great shape.  A bit too much water with the high tide but the outgoing should clean and lean it up just fine.  Most action remains outside the Groin pole off the inner sandbar.  Size running waist to chest high and the Seadrift domain is experiencing rideable rights which has shortboards migrating that direction.  Still able to make some inner bar action work but not as shapely today as we had hoped.

PATCH:  Its over the hills and up the stairs, down the rocks, over the wall, along the ridge then down the bridge but worth the journey and effort to get there.  Supremely smooth and full of peaks.  The Patch is dealing out a nice hand today with outside full house waves that emerge in the chest high size and give nice walls on which to climb and drop.  High water levels make the inner connections quite possible as well.  Midway waves are fully flushed and racy with tip time opportunities and tightrope walking displays.  These waves are waist high and hit the inner bars at warp speed leading to jokers wild or one-eyed jacks.  Anyway you shuffle it there are fun waves to be had and longboarders are all enjoying the positive vibes administered here today.

Daily Surf Report - 2/12/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around." - Sting

We start the day with warm NE breezes giving way to full sunshine and clear skies.  Temp hovering at 62F and warming nicely.  New NW swell is in town and filling in. Ocean is smooth and the tide is dropping.  The makings are in place for a fun surf day.  Get all the ingredients combined to your liking and find your stoke zone and take flight.

CHANNEL: Long period swell giving pause to consistent pulses but they do come and deliver some smooth rollers today.  Feathering and aspiring to reach the shoulder most come in solidly in the chest high realm.  There are rights on which to bob and weave or draw some graceful lines.  Hold a high and tight line on the lefts as they reel with a bit more tenacity.  Both options emerge off the Groin bar and longer rides into the Mali-Bo regions are possible with current water levels.  A few gems are out there for the taking today.

PATCH:  Poised for greatness and dominated by consistent peelers.  There are good morning water levels and offshore breezes keeping it clean in the Patch.  Waist high rights are rapidly rolling through so stand tall and cruise it or lose it today.  Well shaped and set for the log crowd to enjoy all rides.

Daily Surf Report - 2/11/2015

We are closed every Wednesday for the month of February but we will re-open this Thursday at 10AM

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"The secret of getting ahead is getting started" - Mark Twain

This is the type of morning that postcards are made of. A shroud of lingering fog, immense bursts of sunshine, and 48 degrees as sliders are visible as finally the storms have passed. Even the rare soul NOT on a log or egg was observed taking solid lines. Consistent offshore winds and favorable tide conditions make for a solid day, not big, not epic, but still a day to enjoy...

CHANNEL: To the wide right of Mali-Bo a half dozen sliders are riding consistent waist high slow rollers, with the keenest eyes placing themselves into chest high delights with some shape. The storm has clearly made some alterations to the Channel, so watch closely, but there are rewards to be had.

PATCH: Less form and more variables equal no sliding at present. In an unusual twist of tidal fate, the late afternoon high tide should benefit our beloved patch as the lunch hour nears. Shapes are just beginning to be observed. All the ingredients are in place, they just need some marination.

Daily Surf Report - 2/9/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:

"I'm just taking one step at a time. I could zigzag one way, but it's usually not on purpose." - Beck Hansen

A misty mess of moisture, fog, and a determined sun make the scene as 59 degrees and heavy humidity keep them company. Though it does appear most of the rain has moved on, the sea does has to not realized that yet. Shapeless fury moves with no rhyme nor reason as the tide rapidly comes in. Access is quickly fading, but that is the least of your concerns this fine day. Gazing into the beauty of the sea is advised , as even the most optimistic souls could find themselves in situations they can't get out of....

CHANNEL: Chaos. That's being diplomatic. With the incoming mid-afternoon high tide, water adds to frothy shapelessness and only brings despair.

PATCH: See the above. Less danger lurks on this side of the ramp, but no offerings are visible. Hot tea and quiet contemplation are better options. Keep your eye on the horizon, however, as the days to follow are filled with promise...
