Daily Surf Report - 12/31/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The mind ought sometimes to be diverted that it may return to better thinking." - Phaedrus

Bone dry and blatantly cold as we end the current calendar year.  Clear skies full of colors and sun helps to only warm spirits at temps plummet to 34F.  A calm reflective aura inhabits the hamlet and current activity levels remain minor.  A lingering NW swell seeks to find purchase upon the bars as tidal factors and wind ratios do not inhibit such.  The options remain endless though the contributions to the cause seem lackluster in considered opinion.

CHANNEL:  A searching trio with determined goals seeks to end the year upon a high note.  With nearly tranquil waters upon which to ply one's efforts a lower level breaker is all that greets.  Reflective in the early light and allowing for passing time between paddling efforts to think back upon the past 364 days.

PATCH:  I came to call your dare
And look you up on all you
Claim to want to share
Claim to want to share
Yet you offer less than enough for one

Daily Surf Report - 12/30/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The biggest problem with every art is by the use of appearance to create a loftier reality." - Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Winter has clearly settled in for the morning as temps hover around the icicle line.  A zen-like stillness hangs over the village like the cloud cover. A determined minimalism dominates both parking areas and the breakers, and it seems the young Americans that have been such a factor in recent days have wisely chosen to sleep in.  Hot tea and hot towels may be the perfect prescription today, as a slider's menu offerings may be meager.

CHANNEL:  The unusual sight of exposed sand and an area resembling an actual beach greets one's gaze at low tide. A single sentinel seeks solace amongst calm waters. A quiet place to reflect upon the year's passing, yes, but hardly shapes of quality.

PATCH: The usual faces going through SUP paces as fair-to-midland shapes are all that's revealed  at this early hour. Look towards the future and focus on spinal alignment as the day ahead will require the hunter's eye and the sniper's  patience.

Daily Surf Report - 12/29/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"We spend our time searching for security and hate it when we get it." - John Steinbeck

Icy dew and multiple work crews line the path to paradise, as current temps lie south of the freezing mark. This clearly matters little, as a veritable seven nation army has already occupied any and all parking. The logic behind this invasion is questionable, at best, as current conditions and line-up totals have no relation to the bedlam taking place upon icy blacktop. It  appears that a prototypical BO day is upon us, but that the masses feel as though they've been promised  more.

CHANNEL:  Though hope hangs high in a morning sky, the shadows of  many a paddle tell  oanother realityWind swell making noise does not a symphony make. Though potential lies in state, acknowledge what is.

PATCH: As is so often the case, a cavalcade of logs already calls the Patch home, as some rides of merit are had. The shadows cast indicate a classic day of single-fin beasts and breezes from the northeast. As a moth to flame, be prepared to be aware of your surroundings.

Daily Surf Report - 12/28/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Radical simply means 'grasping at the root' " - Angela Davis

Though all routes to the hamlet this morning are a heady mix of dense fog and black ice, the skies are currently remarkably clear. Harbor no illusions about the glowing orb providing warmth or illumination, as neither is found at present. The usual suspects don neoprene in ample doses and plod towards calm seas. The possibilities are endless, yet limited, as often located within, so you can count everyone out.

CHANNEL:  A no wake zone is in effect in the early hours, as low water signals are looking to mingle, or at least make languid conversation with desolation angels.

PATCH: Sluggish, like a wet sponge.  Though entering the fray comes with remarkable ease, one's desire and intent to  do so raises questions. Gather your reserves and a quiet patience as it will behoove all sliders to wait until the sun raises higher overhead, and low-tide vectors have passed.

Daily Surf report - 12/27/2015

CLOSING EARLY TODAY 3:00

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality." - Edgar Allan Poe

Frost and ice cover the land letting us dream of snow. Freezing temperatures  of the night leave us with a white morning. 37F as of now and not heating up quick enough. Tides seem to be at a stand still and the crowds are nowhere to be found.

CHANNEL:  Lake Bolinas in affect. High water levels in the channel and no movement in the water leave us little to even debate.

Daily Surf Report - 12/26/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." - John Muir

Full moon tidings as brilliant twilight blends into the new day.  Post white Christmas milieu with frost covered surfaces as far as the eye can see.  Rise and shine and shake off the holiday hangover and food coma with a treat for the body and soul. Still a few unwrapped gifts left to be discovered.  Dispense with platitudes and carve out some prime time to experience the day to its full extent.  Remedial NW swell still hanging on and new winds puff gently from the offshore directives.  Sun kissed and chilled out at 32F makes for a great start to a day full of promise.

CHANNEL:  Shifted and lifted with rollers of the leftover variety merging into the deeper waters of the Channel and finding purchase along the Seadrift bars as well.  Wisps of luminous spray off the backs of wanton walls of water as breakers bump along at less than waist high capacity.  Fiery sun lighting the path which is iced over and torture on toes.  A hale and hearty crew is upon it with cares abandoned and stoke in their eyes.

PATCH: Lesser in quality and surfer quantity as well though offering up tastes that should still be sampled.  A paddle wielding duo has set forth with their eyes on the outside prize.  A mounting tide gives rise to extra propulsive powers and currently still allows for easy entry while keeping rocks at bay.  A fine option to inaugurate your day and sure to present peaks predicted in the thigh high range.
