Daily Surf Report - 4/30/2012

A Moderate Monday,

59 degrees, light overcast/haze, light winds out of the west, with fun little waves in both spots.

Channel: Not crowded like yesterday, that is for sure. There are some waves coming through, in the knee to waist range, with occasional bigger sets. Not many people out at the moment 3-5 or so....

Patch: kind of longboardable. lined up around knee high, great for the begining surfers.

Daily Surf Report - 4/29/2012

Hazy over castness shrouds Bobo, but we will most likely be seeing the sun soon. Lot's of movement swilling around the streets this morning, and a fading short period local windswell in the water. Air temp about 53 degrees and not much wind to speak of, a little bit of texture on an otherwise lake-like ocean surface, serene dribblers at the end of Aprildom.

Channel: not too much surf here but plenty making a go of it. The tide peaked earlier and is draining until a little after noon today. Waves in the shin-knee high range. About 17 longboarders out and a few SUPs with more people suiting up to enjoy the spinning tiny lefts out there, I saw a few little peelers that could be just right for the right surfer, right board, right attitude and right position, glide through to the shore past the groin and have a pina colada, cut through all that red tape.

Patch: Nothing happening at this spot. Lots of rocks, no waves, and no one out.

Daily Surf Report - 4/28/2012

Clear blue skies, sunshine and moderately breezy from the north. Sunshine and warm temps predicted through the weekend. Currently 55F and nice. Little combo swell starting to show with rideable waves today. The right equipment will get you waves.

Channel: Tide heading low and ripping out through the Channel. Tough to hold your spot in the lineup but right place and right time gets you fun waves. Rights and lefts to ride. NW wind swell and small south show a bit today. Surf in the waist high range with a bit bigger and better on the long period sets. Some close-out but the drop is fun and if you make the corner the rides are long.

Patch: Kayaks and SUPs for paddling at the moment. Still pretty flat but occasional waves. Scattered peaks about knee high and soft. Try a big log and maybe get lucky. This could be fun later today in the afternoon with water.

Daily Surf Report - 4/27/2012

Sunny, warm and smooth. Nice morning in Bolinas. Winds are very light from the N and Temp is 55F. Sunshine predicted through the weekend. Tide heading to a low and waves are small. The right equipment will get you waves.

Channel: Low low and going lower tide. Will switch in an hour and fill in. Knee high waves at best right now but break along and can be fun. Great day to learn. Still waiting for the next swell to hit and increase size. More water may help.

Patch: 1 kayaker out past the far meeting rock. Still pretty flat but occasional waves. Scattered peaks about knee high and soft. Try a big log and maybe get lucky. This could be fun later today in the afternoon with water.

Daily Surf Report - 4/26/2012

Closing Early Today at 2:30pm.
PJHS track meet vs. Kenilworth. Cross-town rivalry meet.
Go Bantams!

It was raining and now it is not. Winds are from the N and the ocean is actually very smooth and calm. Temp is 55F and balmy with sunshine predicted. Small patches of blue sky showing through at times. Heading to a negative and ocean is currently flat.

Channel: Low low tide, will be coming up from negative. Knee high waves at best right now. Great day to learn. Could have more size with more water but next swell activity looks to be a day or so away from arriving.

Patch: Looks like a lake with meeting rock sticking out. Fun for a SUP paddle or swim but very little wave activity at this time. This could be fun too later today in the afternoon with water.

Daily Surf Report - 4/25/2012

The winds are still down, and it looked more pleasant this morning than what I was expecting. The wind is light 3 mph out of the west, about 58 degrees, overcast, and there is no one out, but there are tiny tiny waves breaking through, even though we just had a negative tide.

Channel: Low low tide, coming up from negative, occasional knee high peak showing through, will have more size i imagine in a little bit when more water fills in.

Patch: actually saw a fun little right break off the inner sandbar at about knee high, rare for the low tide- probably hecka kelpy, but this could be fun too later today.

PS~ 2mile will most likely close at around 3:30 today if business is slow, if you would like to rent, please come in earlyish ~

Daily Surf Report - 4/24/2012

PM update***********************1:30pm
The tide has filled in and there are little waves in the channel, waste high lefts. One guy out on a log, getting lots of waves.
Small patch too~~~~~~~~~~~~

The winds have mellowed out a tad, and the conditions have become much better than yesterday morning. The tide is out really low, too low to really let any waves in at the moment, I will check back in a few hours to see if the shape has improved. For now, occasional knee high sets at the groin are bulging through. Conditions are alright, about 59 degrees, light 3mph wind out of the SW, and overcast skies. A few dudes out.

Channel: Low low tide, coming up from negative, for now,
Patch: Maybe it will be better here today with more water coming in and the kelp could protect a little from the wind, but for now, not too pretty.

Patch: Drained

Daily Surf Report - 4/23/2012

Today is one of those SouthWind days.
Winds are strong and Onshore out of the south at about 12 kts.
Skys are overcast, and it is a cool 59 degrees. No one is out surfing at the moment. I did not see any waves getting through the strong mix of windchop.

Channel: Not that do-able at the moment. Tide is way out, and it is too windy.

Patch: Maybe it will be better here today with more water coming in and the kelp could protect a little from the wind, but for now, not too pretty.

Daily Surf Report - 4/22/2012

The fog is crumbling. It is here, but not as bad as days previous. Slight texture from light variable winds, semi-glass, and a dwindling wind swell. grab your 12' tandem board and hoist someone on your head on a little dribbler. Air temp is around 53 degrees, hopefully the fog burns off today and we will see a nice beach day, albeit small surf. Grab a handplane or surf mat and fins and make a go of it in the shorebreak with the high tide this afternoon.

Channel: Super drained low tide this morning. Waves...in the knee high range. Aout 4 longboarders and several SUPs making a go of it.

Patch: Negative tide and lots of exposed rocks. Lot's people of people actually out on the reef early this morning clam digging or yogaing, it's a party. No waves to speak of. A few ankle drizzlers out there and about 5 SUPs.

Daily Surf Report - 4/21/2012

Small and meager surf starts the day with low tide conditions. A bit of cross rip tearing it up. Incoming tide and more water should help. Supposed to be 80 degrees today so the beach sounds like the place to be.

Sun has burned through the light overcast skies. Winds are nil and temp is 54 degrees and nice. Expect heat today.

Channel: Low tide giving us small waves in the knee to thigh high size. Some lefts on the Groin bar and rights towards Seadrift. Nothing special but a longboard will work. Incoming tide will help but not much swell in the water. Beautiful morning at the beach.

Patch: Negative tide and lots of exposed rocks. Some peaks at the meeting rock or inside that are knee high +. Needs more water to get working. Big logs or SUPs can get waves today.

Daily Surf Report - 4/20/2012

Sunny and warm afternoon - 74F with persistent little waves.

Paddle out into the foggy unknown and you never know what you will find. Bring the correct equipment and you will always be prepared for whatever the ocean is offering. Single fin logs work best in the Patch as the wave tends to be soft and grind along. Glide and trim on your biggest board. High-performance longboards, eggs and fish will work in the Channel when conditions are right. A bit more energy can be found on this wave at times.

Fading swell energy and low tide to start the day. Overcast burning off and sun starting to show. Winds are nil and temp is now 52 degrees and nice. Expected hot this weekend.

Channel: Small waves in the thigh high range today. Incoming tide could help but not so clean or organized yet. Still some surfers in the water catching waves and enjoying the morning.

Patch: Found some friends in the Patch after a blind, foggy paddle out. Jaime, Mary, Scott, DB, Russ and Frank on logs and SUPs. Scattered wave peaks knee to thigh high. The good ones peeled along to the inside. Good to be in the water with friends and catch up on all the goings on. Saw a cloud rainbow with jumping unicorn to top it all off.

Closing at 3:00pm today. PJHS track meet vs. Lawrence Jones MS. Go Bantams!

Combo swell continues to hang around. Overcast with light winds sideshore / offshore. Sun should be out later. Currently 52 degrees and mild. Still fun little waves to ride.

Channel: Waves in the thigh to waist high range and breaking cleanly on the middle bar. Fun lefts best on a longboard today.

Patch: Scattered peaks but breaking knee to thigh high at times. Peeling along nice and smooth for your log. Not crowded at all.

Daily Surf Report - 4/18/2012

Waves are sticking around, and conditions are getting even better.

Nothing makes surfers happier than waking up to light offshore winds, sunny skies, and seeing something to ride. Conditions are excellent this morning, with fun little waves in both zones. about 55 degrees, sunny, light offshore.

Channel: About 5 people out, frequent waist high lines coming through, breaking off the middle bar, mostly lefts, few rights. not really too shortboardable anymore, but big boards, yes!

Patch: Waist high occasional sets, 3 people out, and peeling off the patch reef nicely.

Daily Surf Report - 4/17/2012

In case you didn't have anything to do today:
There are tons of waves in Bolinas. All kinds.
A nice combo swell has filled in this morning, and the surf zone is flooded with pop up peaks and walled lines everywhere. Nothing substantial in size, but conditions and frequency are happening. Fair weather- light overcast, grey sky, 51 degrees, no winds at the moment.

Channel: A decent amount of energy is showing here now.
Chest high is the norm, kind of crowded. Some waves grind off the bar going both ways, outside and inside. Please do not bring your new longboard here and think you are going to get tubed, maybe try if there is no one around, but most likely all folks on bulky equipment will be very stoked at the patch, and the shredding at the channel can continue without many obstacles. Besides, the patch is looking sick.

Patch: This is looking interesting. The combo swell is causing waves to break in an unusual zone, inside inside the patch way outside, between the boat ramp and the patch. This peak is about chest high, and splitting both ways, looking really fun for the log. There are a few longboards out.
Normal patch reef point is showing lined up waist high wave frequently too.

Daily Surf Report - 4/16/2012

Mondai,
Weather is so good, I wanted to paddle out before I even saw a wave.
I waited, hardly saw anything above knee high, and still wanted to paddle out. It is that nice out. About 55 degrees, sunny, light offshores, and the sun is glistening off the waves like a sea of endless diamonds and crystals for everyone to share.

Channel: some little peaks pushing through, was fairly weak on the high tide and is improving a little with the outgoing now. About 7 longboards/SUP in the water, kinda sitting/standing around, waiting, waiting in great weather, I imagine things could shape up in a lil bit once the water and current subsides.

Patch: One stand up guy is waiting for a wave I never saw come in.

Daily Surf Report - 4/15/2012

Overcast and foggy, almost drizzle, but no, chilly, semi glassy with variable wind. About 52 degrees out, maybe we'll see sun later...? There are some people camping out on the beach next to the dead seal, a true kodak moment.

Channel: some little peaks pushing through, was fairly weak on the high tide and is improving a little with the outgoing now, however the rip current through the channel is mucking things up a bit. waves are in the knee to waist high range, maybe a few chest here and there but mostly burgers with no fries or shakes. Mostly longboards out, about 10-15 guys and 3-4 SUPers.

Patch: a few people were out on it early on, with some little knee high waves rolling through, but now that the tide is dropping there isn't much happening out there with no one out currently.

Daily Surf Report - 4/14/2012

Solidy solid NW swell today. Good waves at both spots in town. Winds are NW and tide is heading low. A bit of bump on it but should improve with less water. All team Windigo boards in the water and working well. CT where you at?

Sunny and 50F currently with clear weather on tap for the weekend.

Channel: A mix of longboards outside on the deep bar and shortboards on the inner Groin bar. Waves in the waist to shoulder range on the sets. Seadrift rights working as well and a small crew on it. Lots of surfers in the water so look both ways when dropping in. There are rules.

Patch: Smooth and scattered peaks breaking outside and in the waist high + size. Will start to move further outside as tide receeds. Longboards and SUPs in the water and there are plenty of waves today.

Daily Surf Report - 4/13/2012

Friday the 13th. Beware black cats and other bad luck symbols.

Clearing weather with sunshine and light but variable winds. A bit of NW helping clean up the ocean which is relatively smooth at this time. Current temp is 49F with rain in the forecast. Tide heading low and surf has some rideable waves today.

Channel: A few feathering lefts in the waist high + size rolling through the Channel. Also mixed with pieces and parts from different directions which dont look surfable. 2 people out and there are some waves that can be ridden.

Patch: Scattered peaks mostly breaking outside and in the waist high size. Longboards and SUPs in the water and waves are there for the taking. Not super clean but more appealing than yesterday.

Closing at 3:00pm today. PJHS track meet vs. Calistoga. Go Bantams!
***********************
Clearing weather with chopped ocean today. Overnight storm has passed through leaving us currently sunny skies and a temp of 50F. Ocean hacked from winds and showing pieces and parts of storm surf. Winds are currently very light. Tide draining to a negative. Good day to rock pick and treasure hunt the exposed areas.

Channel: Drained out and chopped up. Almost waves in the thigh to waist high size from a few directions. Hoping weather holds and things clean up. No one is out yet.

Patch: Tide too low and storm abused. Maybe something rideable on the inside in the waist high size. 1 person looking, no one surfing.

Daily Surf Report - 4/11/2012

Wednesday,
********************
Pm update: south winds have picked up. The Groin Channel is all choppy now, and so is the Patch. But the Patch is at least kinda loggable.
***********************
Am:
Tide has pulled out all the water, waves, and fortunatly for us: it seems the weather too. Looking out the surf, I can see waves coming in, combing through, but the tide has pulled the action out too far, so it is only a matter of time. The weather is waaaay better than it has been. There seems to be a little pressure bubble over bolinas this morning- it is sunny, winds are sideshore, and the clouds are way out on other horizons.

Channel: Drained at the moment. Check back in a bit. No one is out yet.

Patch: Too low.

Daily Surf Report - 4/10/2012

Tuesday Blues,
Should have been here yesterday

I will update if there is a break in weather....for now ~
It is straight nasty. Bolinas is the kind of place that does poorly in storms, because it faces south. It is facing directly into the weather.
It's about 50 degrees, with 10-15 knt onshore winds. The waves that were here last night are now mixed in with all the junk waves and it is all chaos.

Waves can be orderly, or be overrun by chaos. All still waves. Choose order, choose the light.

Channel: There are waves mixed in with the storm waves. No one is surfing.

Patch: was sooo fun last night. sorry.

Daily Surf Report - 4/9/2012

Looking like my kind of Monday. It is empty, fun, and looks like it requires minimal effort. Fun little lines coming in through the channel, nice weather, light overcast with minimal wind. 52 degrees.

Channel: Incoming tide is pushing off the bottom now. 2 people out, looks like fun long lefts, just over waist, maybe even shredable?

Patch: Tide is too low but could improve through out the morning with the tide push, no one out currently.

Crystals recharged, and HAPPY EASTER! Open 10-5, call before coming in to rent, RENTALS DUE AT 3, SHOP CLOSING FOR BUNNY FESTIVITIES.

Not as cold as yesterday and the swell has picked up just a tad, a few little hidden eggs or nuggets are out there to be slipped and slided on. Grab a log or a handplane and enjoy the sun.

Channel: Incoming tide giving a little push to the small surf conditions. You can still find something to ride if you have a big board. Bring out the log and get into the lefts working in the Channel. Super glassy and about knee to waist high, looks fun for beginners and professional tip dwellers. 4 guys out.
