Daily Surf Report - 3/20/2013

Attention K-Mart Shoppers: We will be closing at 2PM today due to weather. However, we will re-open tomorrow morning at our usual time of 10AM.


Goodmorning and welcome to the first day of spring of 2013! It's a bit overcast this morning with off-and-on drizzle with an air temp about the same as the water temp coming in at 52 degrees. The surf is about the same as yesterday only with a slight on-shore breeze putting some texture on the water. Maybe later with the tide turn-around and with a bit of weather change we'll see something more positive. Naturally, if this occurs I will be slapping an update right here on your computer screen for you.


CHANNEL: This draining lagoon has almost as much flow as Gerry Lopez at Pipe circa 1972. The tide she goes out and leaves that sand bar wide open. There is a little, teeny knee-high right skidding along on the Sea Drift side of the sand bar BUT, will in all likelihood work better on the in-coming tide later. Nobody here 'cept us Sea Gulls.


PATCH: Knee-to-occasional-thigh high roller stumbling in that sometimes breaks but most times won't. Naturally, with this receeding tide and the grumpy rocks below the surface that can act as the "Fun Police" and ruin a session (and a board's virginity) it is advisable to wait a while. Maybe a little later in the day with the up-coming tide and subsequent tide push this could be the place to ride that air-craft carrier of a log and let you get your glide on. One (1) Janitor board that eventually got tired of sweeping the Patch and has headed over to Green/Africa to do a clean up on aisle #9. Was that Frank 'the Pelican' Kemper out there?
