In-store Shaper Event:
David Vernor, the man behind Vernor surfboards, will be in the shop this Saturday, 3/16/2013, from 10am to 12pm. This is a great opportunity to talk boards and design with a local shaper. Dave will bring a few new shapes including the Pitbull and Silver Bullet 2. Come by to talk surf or browse the rack of in-stock boards. We have Mini Simmons, shortboards, hybrids, eggs, Mini-Mals, HP longboards and Classic Noseriders in the shop. Always hand-made from start to finish in Santa Cruz.
Good morning surfers. Light fog with sun burning through and glassy ocean conditions. Temp is 50F and we have hit the mid 70s all day this week. Low tide conditions and just a bit of windswell in the water giving us near-flat conditions at the present time. Good day for the SUP, kayak or swimming if you need to get wet. Incoming tide will give a bit more push but not expecting too much surf today. At least it isn't windy.
CHANNEL: Double over sea urchin today with lots of exposed sand bars to walk on. Nothing to ride here yet. Hoping for a bit more swell to show up by the end of the week. If it gets rideable we'll update the report. Surfer feedback reports Seadrift delivering lots of waves with the incoming tide. Rights all the way to the sand for the riding.
PATCH: Triple over barnacle with ALL the rocks are exposed. Great day to go for an SUP excursion or rock pick for treasures. The tide is incoming but with no push behind it there will be even less than ankle high gurglers. Clean your board, patch your suits and get ready for the next swell.
