Daily Surf Report - 3/31/2013

HAPPY EASTER!

Overcast and Hazy out here, with little sprinkly showers here and there.  Sun is trying to pop through at times but rain is forecasted throughout the day.  Go hunt those eggs in the yard, as you have a better chance of finding the Easter bunny than getting a shack out here today.  Perhaps with the tide push we will see some peeps get some Cadbury cover ups...

CHANNEL: minimal swell and surf and lots of sand bars exposed.  Lumpy and chunky windswell out there at present and waves are in the shin high, maybe knee at most, range.  Two groms are frolicking in the whitewash with in their Sunday best.

PATCH:   ROCKS!!! are popping up like eggs out there today.  No surf to speak of at present, but keep your fingers crossed, maybe we will see improvement with the tide push throughout the day.  Touring SUP and kayaks are a go!  We do NOT have these for rent.

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 3/30/2013

1:00pm Update:
Hints of sunshine breaking through.  Wind remains very light.  Surf remains small.

Overcast and a bit of misty/drizzle this morning.  Still no wind and temp is a balmy at 53F.  Rain later today and possibly into Easter so get to the beach now if you can.  Still no real swell to speak of.  Macroscopically microscopic this morning with low tide going lower.  Hopefully incoming tide will give that little push to get surfboards moving but currently looks like a SUP or kayak morning.  Drink some coffee and wait it out if you can.  Evenings have been small but fun with little waves at both spots.    Massive amounts of exposed beach, rocks and sandbars for you viewing pleasure.

CHANNEL: Sandbars exposed out into the lineup this morning with more water heading out.  Lets you see how the bars are set up for when swell arrives and water covers.  As for now pick your favorite ocean dwelling creature and pretend you are it.  That is how you will get waves in a favorable size this morning.  Double over barnacle at best.  Seahorse shacks and urchin tubes galore.  Clam cover-ups and Tip Time for starfish.  Will need more water to start a little push and maybe get things going today.  Not a whole lot of swell out there but bring the big board and expectations may be met later in the day.

PATCH: Lots of rocks showing.  Very few if any waves showing this morning.  Negative low tide has things shut down for now.  2 longboarders in the water having a nice morning conversation.  Not much paddling or wave riding to speak of.  Size is ankle at best.  Definitely needs more water and late morning into the afternoon is a possibility if the weather holds out as well.  Touring SUP and kayaks are a go!  We do NOT have these for rent.

Daily Surf Report - 3/29/2013

Sunny at the beach. Warm and beautiful morning. No wind and current temp is 52F. All we need to make it perfect is more swell. Relatively flat morning with a few rollers here and there. Not a lot out there swell wise right now. People in the water enjoying the day and picking off waves when they pop up. Great day for a big big board and perfect for beginners. Low tide now and incoming will help with shape and a bit of push. Bring the sunscreen and come out to the beach.

CHANNEL: Low tide filling in with lots of sand exposed. Very weak and knee high at best. Seadrift also looking no bueno at this time. Will need more water to start a little push. Bars have been set up for MaliBo rights inside and outside lefts in the main Channel. Will update later as conditions change / improve.

PATCH: Patch still pretty small but a few adventurers are out there now getting the knee / thigh high rollers when they come through. Incoming tide will help and you get a few if you are patient. Have a big board and you will be rewarded. Smooth, glassy ocean and plenty of sunshine and exposed rocks.

Daily Surf Report - 3/28/2013

Mist and drizzle this morning - we'll call is miszle I guess. Not actual rain which may come later but wet skies. Wind is still light and temp is 54F. Still a nice glassy ocean but swell is just remnants at this time with the S diminishing and the NW windswell with not much energy. Incoming tide may give a bit of push and if you have a big longboard there are a few rides to be had.

CHANNEL: Low tide filling in starting to give a little push. Small waves in the knee to thigh range. Surf mainly rights at MaliBo and over at Seadrift as well. Not much energy in the water but there are a few to pick off here and there. A bit of waiting for the last bits of the S to cough up waves but they are out there if you are patient. Bigger boards are the norm today so leave the fish at home.

PATCH: Patch has slowed to a crawl but does give up a knee high + rideable right occasionally. Incoming tide will help and you can milk the wave along until it hits the inside. Rollers at the meeting rock can be snagged but a bit more opportunity mid-way to get up and riding. Smoothness, just not a lot of juice today. Board choice - the bigger the better today.

Daily Surf report - 3/27/2013

Happy hump day to all of you creatures of the brine! It's a bit gloomy out here at the beach today but just weather-wise. Overcast with off-and-on misting in the air. The current air temp is buzzing in at about 52 degrees and the water temp is just south of that. However, there isn't any wind as of yet keeping it glassy all over. There is still a bit of a bump in the rump out there in the H2O so, pour yourself out of bed and splash on the neoprene, grab the hydrodynamic vehicle of your choice and get to slidin'!

CHANNEL: Waist-to-chest high as it's just starting to fire at the middle bar with this little incoming tide push, especially that right on the Sea Drift side. It's high ballin' like a fast frieght out of the yard with Lee Marvin as the king hobo riding that steel snake all the way to purgatory (Emperor of the North 1973...google it). There will be long lulls but wait for it....wait for it.... and BAM! Any water craft will work here as long as you have the chops, amigo. Two (2) there now as I write this. One lumber jack and one janitor.

PATCH: The Clam Patch is slowing down a bit with the current swell BUT there is still something out there to be had (besides suckers and rubes) at the thigh-to-waist high range. Rollers are slipping in from just inside the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head through the middle and well into the inside. Lefts and rights. Again, there is a long waiting period between sets but with a big enough log you can glide away and work on your foot work and style. About seven (7) out there now on longboards and a janitor board as well as the birthday boy, Hank "Boom Boom" Biddle! Happy Birthday, homie!

Daily Surf report - 3/26/2013

Buenas dias todo suferos del mar! Another glorious morning here at the beach as it's sunny with an air temp of 48 degrees and no wind (yet), glassy conditions as there is still some of that swell remaining in town for you to glide your cares away.

CHANNEL: Waist-to-just-under-chest high as it looks as if it's just starting to fire with this incoming tide. It looks like the middle bar all the way towards Sea Drift is where it wants to deposit you in the slot. Not every wave is clean so be patient and picky and you will be rewarded with some fun salty realities. No one here as of yet but I see some folks eye-ballin' and getting ready...

PATCH: I can't believe this! The Calm Patch is STILL showing a swell, albeit a tad smaller than yesterday. Windex glassy in the waist-high area breaking over the middle and the inside. The Snags have there mojo workin' and even E.T.'s and Green/Africa have there little lefts slippin' and slidin' on through. Tide is coming up but always be mindful of the rocks below... great day to learn how to kick out of a wave instead of just falling off of your board. About ten (10) on Log-boards and hall-way buffing equipment.

Daily Surf Report - 3/25/2013

Goodmorning everyone and welcome to another wonderful week here at the beach. We're rounding the bend and are on our way to the finish line for the month of March and we're doing it with a bit o' style. Air temps coming in at 47 degrees (though it will certainly warm up later today) with the sun out, some patchy clouds and a bit of that swell still lolling through the glassy brine. Grab a big board and get to sliding!

CHANNEL: Looking a bit like a cat hacking up a hair-ball over the sand bar with that frothy, white water ooze. Nothing really breaking clean here at the moment EVEN with this incoming tide. Go figure. No one here not even a Tabby.

PATCH: Still some of that south swell swaggering through here like Muhammed Ali after dropping Smokin' Joe Frazier! Waist (+/-) rights in the middle of the Clam Patch, inside, the Snags as well as the lefts over at E.T.'s and Green/Africa. Glass, class and a whole lotta' sass. Grab a log and slide your brains out while the gettin' is good! Fifteen plus (15+) on longboards and janitorial gear spread out far and wide.

Daily Surf Report - 3/24/2013

Fifth day of spring nicer than the first. Push repeat for another sunny and windless morning with a glassy ocean and a bit of rideable surf! Air temp coming in at a chill 48 degrees but another nice weather day is on tap and temps should reach 70. Lingering south swell remains in the water delivering waves. Ocean a bit chill with water temp down to 50F so bring the booties. Fun day to surf and great for beginners as well.

CHANNEL: Body surfing possibilities on the Bolinas side and the MaliBO region. Not the best angle for surf here today. Seadrifte more consistent with a decent group of longboarders on the rights and lefts across the Channel. Size looks to be thigh to waist and the waves are smooth and peaky. There are waves here today but you will need to be patient to find the right spot.

PATCH: South swell still here this moring. Lots of waves to ride. Smooth and glassy. Size is waist +. Consistent sets after a bit of a waiting period. Barnacles in the northern region. Masters on the middle bowl. Grommets in the Snags. Plenty of waves with the best shape mid-way and on the inside as the tide fills in. Mostly rights that hold up. Long rides to the beach can be expected. Getting crowded so look both ways before you drop in. Open faces and noserides for all. Outside breaking as well but a bit scattered. Lots of surfers in the water and spread out as well. Incoming tide has all the rocks covered and it looks like there will be waves here all day. Get it while it lasts!

Daily Surf Report - 3/23/2013

Fourth day of spring much nicer than the first. Another sunny and windless morning with a glassy ocean and a bit of rideable surf! Air temp coming in at a chill 44 degrees but another nice weather day is on tap and high pressure system remains over the area. Small south swell kicking in and comboing up with NW windswell to get both town spots working this beautiful morning. Ocean a bit chill with water temp down to 50F so bring the booties. Fun day to surf and great for beginners as well.

CHANNEL: Micro mysto MaliBo waves are still out there for the patient surfers willing to wait and sit on the Groin pole. Racy rights in the thigh high size that zip along to the beach. Sand has moved around so watch out for the early exit and shore thumping. More consistent surf in the Channel proper as bars have shifted a bit. Right and lefts running over to Seadrift and a good pod of longboarders on it already. Still thigh to waist high but smooth and lots to ride.

PATCH: South swell has arrived. Plenty of waves with the best shape mid-way and on the inside with rolling rights that are waist high. Long rides with turning possibilities and gliding noserides available for all. Outside breaking as well but a bit scattered. Lots of surfers in the water and spread out as well. Incoming tide has all the rocks covered and it looks like there will be waves here all day.

Daily Surf Report - 3/22/2013

Third day of spring much nicer than the first. Another sunny and windless morning with a glassy ocean and a bit of rideable surf! Air temp coming in at 46 degrees and brisk but nice weather is on tap for the next few days. Ocean a bit chill with water temp down to 50F so bring the booties. Fun day to surf and great for beginners as well.

CHANNEL: Early morning product testing session with Jambear Hambear and single-fin/fingle-spin Walt. Alternative equipment in the water at MaliBo rights with foamie paipos, Mega-Simmons and eggs all catching lots of fun waves. Lots of sand built up on the beach so watch for the quick approaching shore and crash landings in the closeouts. Size runs thigh high but enough energy to get up and riding and make some turns. Seadrift also delivering waves in the waist high size with about 8-10 longboarders on it early. Good stuff today.

PATCH: Inside Patch slow to wake up today but incoming tide may give that extra push. Lots of wall watchers in the Peanut Gallery this morning giving it the stink eye and waiting for the right moment to suit up. Big logs will work and patience will be rewarded. A few occasionally break outside and if you can get in the rides are long. High tide covers rocks and keeps the landings soft. Looks like a nice day to ride waves.

Daily Surf Report - 3/21/2013

Second day of spring much nicer than the first. Full sunshine today, no wind, glassy ocean and a bit of rideable surf! Air temp coming in at 43 degrees but that will warm up nicely today. Little storm has brought a little south swell with it and some waves as well. Fun day to surf and great for beginners as well.

CHANNEL: I've go MaliBo on my mind as I watch glassy little peelers roll through the inside of the Groin pole and produce long rights. Fish, eggs, Simmons can work here now but tide switch may shut it down. Spinning cylinders on the Seadrift and Channel side of things of well and all look fun on a longboard. Size runs thigh high + but shape is good and there is a bit of push to get you going.

PATCH: Inside Patch is reeling with Hank and David enjoying the constant fun. High tide covers rocks and keeps the landings soft. Thigh high rollers with a bit of wait time between sets. If you have something long to ride come get it here today. Out in the mid-way region the occasional wave breaks and will connect to the inside, but most times won't. Fun stuff in the Patch.

Daily Surf Report - 3/20/2013

Attention K-Mart Shoppers: We will be closing at 2PM today due to weather. However, we will re-open tomorrow morning at our usual time of 10AM.

Goodmorning and welcome to the first day of spring of 2013! It's a bit overcast this morning with off-and-on drizzle with an air temp about the same as the water temp coming in at 52 degrees. The surf is about the same as yesterday only with a slight on-shore breeze putting some texture on the water. Maybe later with the tide turn-around and with a bit of weather change we'll see something more positive. Naturally, if this occurs I will be slapping an update right here on your computer screen for you.

CHANNEL: This draining lagoon has almost as much flow as Gerry Lopez at Pipe circa 1972. The tide she goes out and leaves that sand bar wide open. There is a little, teeny knee-high right skidding along on the Sea Drift side of the sand bar BUT, will in all likelihood work better on the in-coming tide later. Nobody here 'cept us Sea Gulls.

PATCH: Knee-to-occasional-thigh high roller stumbling in that sometimes breaks but most times won't. Naturally, with this receeding tide and the grumpy rocks below the surface that can act as the "Fun Police" and ruin a session (and a board's virginity) it is advisable to wait a while. Maybe a little later in the day with the up-coming tide and subsequent tide push this could be the place to ride that air-craft carrier of a log and let you get your glide on. One (1) Janitor board that eventually got tired of sweeping the Patch and has headed over to Green/Africa to do a clean up on aisle #9. Was that Frank 'the Pelican' Kemper out there?

Daily Surf Report - 3/19/2013

Greetings purveyors of surfboard riding. It's another glorious morning here at the beach with a temp sliding on in at a mellow 48 degrees, again not a breath of wind as little, wispy clouds play high above in the pinkish/blue stratosphere while the sun peeks over the ridge at Stinson beach to greet another Bolinas morning. It's glassy but it's almost non-existent in the surf department...almost. Read on...

CHANNEL: Another morning of a fast draining lagoon make this spot (for the time being) no bueno for water fun. A knee-high, white water gob that collides with the outgoing "river run" right over the soon-to-be exposed sand bar. While both parties are exchanging insurance information and checking over the damage, we can only wait and see what will happen later in the day with the incoming tide. I'll be sure to post up here if changes do occur. No one out there as I write this.

PATCH: Knee-to-occasional-thigh high right over the middle of the Clam Patch that takes seemily forever to appear and once it does it belches along for a little ways before heading back to the bunk house at Rancho Neptune. The rocks are beginning to wake up this morning here so, get it while it's...(ahem)...good. Maybe later today with that tide turn-around we will see a little bit more. BIG boards and Custodial gear may work here. Two (2) souls out; Hank on a 10'0" log and someone else on a Boogie Board! Yes, you read that correctly... a Boogie Board.

Daily Surf Report - 3/18/2013

ATTENTION EARTHLINGS! 2-Mile will be closing early today but will reopen tomorrow morning at it's usual time of 10AM.

Goodmorning riders of planks, logs and buffing equipment! It's a wonderful morning here at the beach with sunny skies at 46 degrees (that'll warm up soon enough) not a breath of wind with glassy but....well...flat-ish conditions. The tide is on her way out and everything is exposed here just like the nudists used to be over by the Patch back in the day. We'll have to wait and see with the tide turn-around later in the day. If there is a change I'll be sure to holla' back right here. Good day to cruise the SUP around and explore in the sun.

CHANNEL: I just wished that my plumbing at home drained this well! Lagoon has the express lane to the open sea operating right now. Couple that with the soon-to-be-exposed sand bar and miniscule slurping bump of a wave there and it seems that this would be a good time to get that laundry done or continue to snooze that Irish flu away until the tide turns later today. No one out right now... as if that wasn't already implied.

PATCH: The Ding Trolls (aka: Rocks) are yawning awake to greet a new day as the tide is low, low, low and getting lower. Glassy but no real anything to ride here. Maybe later? Great morning for a cruise on the S.S. Janitorial SUP. No one here either.

Daily Surf Report - 3/17/2013

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Super clear, clean and calm conditions out there today. Sit in bed and have an Irish coffee, cause it's gonna take a while for the tide to turn and get things going. Sunny but brisk conditions with fading swell lines still trickling through. Nice beach day, good surf for beginners out looking for that four leaf clover hang ten shnar!

CHANNEL: Super clean micro conditions! Great for beginners and leprechauns out to search for their pot of gold on all of the exposed sandbars. Tide filling in this afternoon will likely make a change for the better. Currently no one out.

PATCH: Lot's of rocks and no waves at the moment. Perhaps on the tide push we will see some knee high shamrock shufflers doing their thing out there!!!

Daily Surf Report - 3/16/2013

In-store Shaper Event:
David Vernor, the man behind Vernor surfboards, will be in the shop TODAY, 3/16/2013, from 10am to 12pm. This is a great opportunity to talk boards and design with a local shaper. Dave will bring a few new shapes including the Pitbull and Silver Bullet 2. Come by to talk surf or browse the rack of in-stock boards. We have Mini Simmons, shortboards, hybrids, eggs, Mini-Mals, HP longboards and Classic Noseriders in the shop. Always hand-made from start to finish in Santa Cruz.

Clear, cool and calm with a temp of 47F and low level fog burning off. Patches of blue sky peeking through here and there. Mild temps and good weather expected for the weekend. Rain starts Wednesday! Very little swell today and outgoing tide is sucking the life out of the ocean. A few rollers pop up and can be ridden but incoming tide will help shape and size later in the morning. Lots of beach and exposed rocks for your exploration. Great day for beginnners so come out and rent a board.

CHANNEL: Low tide has it fairly well shut down now but again over on Seadrift the rights are working a bit and will improve with the incoming tide and more water. Channel picked up a bit in the later part of the morning and early afternoon yesterday and that should be the same today. Getting wet and riding waves will take a bit of effort today to find the right mysto peak. Give it a look and dont fear the crossing paddle. Size looks to be thigh high at best. Lots of beach and sand bars exposed.

PATCH: Again smooth and glassy outside peaks and a few insiders at the Snags. Small and loggable and size probably goes knee to thigh high. Big boards will get into waves and the tide change will help as well. Grab the big big board and glide the morning away. Incoming tide with cover the exposed rocks but that will take a while.

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

We start the morning with light fog, no sun and light to nil E winds. Air temp is mild at 50F and the day has potential to warm up nicely. Little combo swell from the NW and SW giving us some buoy readings of 3' @ 18 secs which will give us some waves to ride. Tide just bottomed out and is switching. Incoming tide brought waves yesterday with the little extra water and push. Longboardable only but there was something worth putting on a wetsuit for. Great day for beginnners and log afficionados as well.

CHANNEL: Low tide has it shut down now but over on Seadrift the rights are working a bit and will improve with the incoming tide and more water. Yesterday did deliver rideable waves in this area while the Channel stayed mostly flat. Give it a look and dont fear the crossing paddle. Size looks to be thigh to almost waist high. Lots of beach and sand bars exposed.

PATCH: Smooth and glassy outside peaks. Small and loggable and size probably goes thigh high +. 3 of the morning crew usual suspects have watched it long enough and are now putting on suits to surf it. Grab the big big board and glide the morning away. Incoming tide with cover the exposed rocks but that will take a while.

Good morning surfers. Light fog with sun burning through and glassy ocean conditions. Temp is 50F and we have hit the mid 70s all day this week. Low tide conditions and just a bit of windswell in the water giving us near-flat conditions at the present time. Good day for the SUP, kayak or swimming if you need to get wet. Incoming tide will give a bit more push but not expecting too much surf today. At least it isn't windy.

CHANNEL: Double over sea urchin today with lots of exposed sand bars to walk on. Nothing to ride here yet. Hoping for a bit more swell to show up by the end of the week. If it gets rideable we'll update the report. Surfer feedback reports Seadrift delivering lots of waves with the incoming tide. Rights all the way to the sand for the riding.

PATCH: Triple over barnacle with ALL the rocks are exposed. Great day to go for an SUP excursion or rock pick for treasures. The tide is incoming but with no push behind it there will be even less than ankle high gurglers. Clean your board, patch your suits and get ready for the next swell.

Good day to all of you with good surfing intentions. We still have a little bit of patchy fog lingering here at the beach but it should burn off soon enough. The air temp is loping in at 47 degrees but it has warmed up to the mid 70's here the past few days and I see no reason why it shouldn't do the same today. The surf is looking less than promising as both spots are near flat, HOWEVER one never knows with this place as the day progresses. If a wave or two should show up later in the day I'll be sure to give each and every one of you an update..... here on the blog.

CHANNEL: It's about shin-to-knee high here right now as it's gurgling over a semi-exposed sand bar. Nothing to really ride here yet though two (2) humanoids with questionable judgement are bobbing out there right now and not doing much else... 'cept bobbing.

PATCH: Same as above except the rocks are exposed and grinning with those board dinging teeth. Sure, the tide is incoming and those rocks will soon be lurking just beneath the waters surface but with no push behind it there will be even less than ankle high gurglers. Could be the day to get a Janitor board and tool around the lagoon and what not. No one here except a fisherman as I write this.

Goodmorning everyone and welcome to another week of wave sliding realities. The fog has cleared and the sun is out and the air temp is buzzing in at around 45 degrees but it'll warm up a bit more as the day rolls on. The surf is available for the taking though the tide is marching in so get it while the going is bueno. Great day for beginners and old salty dogs alike.

CHANNEL: It's about waist-to-occasional-under-chest at Le Channel this morning but section-y as all get out. The Mali-Bo bar is working somewhat BUT only occasionally, so the surfer with the selective eye will get the clean right hand glide. There looks to be a right blowing through on the Sea Drift side as well and can be ridden but with the same care as the mali-Bo Bar. No takers as I write this.

PATCH: Waist (+/-) coming through the outside, middle and inside of the Clam Patch this morning that are glassy and a few will roll without a section-y flaw to be had. Naturally, with the incoming tide it's better to get on it before lunch time as it will be a swampy lake without the mosquitos. Twelve (12) boards-of-length and Janitor equipment enjoying the high-gloss shine.

Daily Surf Report - 3/9/2013

Another beautiful morning greets us in Bolinas today. Sunshine - again. Light offshore wind - again. Glassy ocean - again. High pressure with temp of 49F - again. Diminishing combo swell but still enough left in the water to make rideable and fun waves. Nice little day to go for a surf. High tide just about to peak with a little boat ramp flow happening. Starting to feel a bit of Spring water chill so boots or gloves may be required. Great conditions for beginners.

CHANNEL: MaliBo rights working with waves that run for a good while. Lots of face for turns and turns and little closeout barrels at the end. 1st Peak MaliBo is where all the retro hipster beanie wearing espresso sipping kids sit with their slanted haircuts and wood keel historical boards. Post-modern hobo artists, wanderlust Canadiens and Nihilists dwell here as well. Double tandem seagull crystal guided surf session. 2nd Peak MaliBo has semi-mature adults riding HP longboards, classic single fins, eggs and odd modern shapes that trim and glide. Inside Peak MaliBo has beginners learning to surf and the flotsam and jetsam of the morning crowd. Size is waist high and waves are fairly rippable with the right board. Tide switch will shut it down pretty soon. Seadrift has rights and lefts worth exploring and offshore breezes grooming up the almond curls.

PATCH: Still rideable waves both way outside and mid-way as well. Size is thigh to waist and the ocean is smooth and clean. Big single-fin logs occupying the area but fairly well spaced out so everyone gets a turn. Plenty of little waves for everyone. Peak high tide has the Snags covered up for now. Grab your log ride.

Daily Surf Report - 3/8/2013

Sunshine - check. Light offshore wind - check. High pressure with temp of 51F - check. Combo swell with NW windswell + background S - check.
Decent little day to go for a surf. Smooth ocean after 2 days of cleanup conditions. Good energy delivering rideable waves in town today. Tide just peaked and will be sucking out so mind the rip but look for a few clean ones.

CHANNEL: Mali-Bo rights working with 2 shortboarders sitting on the pole getting a few drops and turns in. Outside Groin bar has the occasional left working and best on a longboard. Seadrift has offshore wave spray and lefts and rights for your riding pleasure. Size is still waist high + and a bit of push.

PATCH: Surf to ride outside and midway as well. Nice and clean little rights in the waist high range for a variety of longboards to surf. Morning crew on it again with some SUPs in the mix and more spread out today. Plenty of gliders for everyone. Peak high tide has the Snags covered up for now. Grab your log and find something here.

Daily Surf Report - 3/7/2013

A little birdy told me winds were light last night and they seem to be that way this morning as well. A few puffs from the S but nothing normally associatied with rain storms in this area. Little combo swell in the water and light winds make it rideable today for those on longboards. It is currently overcast and 49F with a blue patch here or there. Not smooth or great but something worth checking and putting on a suit for a few rides. Tide has peaked and is sucking out so mind the rip but look for a few clean ones.

CHANNEL: Still a bit churned up but there are some Mali-Bo rights working and the occasional Groin left. Still needs another day to really clean up but it is an empty lineup at the moment so you can have all the waves to yourself. Size looks to be waist high + and a bit of push. Not the cleanest conditions but water is moving around here today.

PATCH: Little morning crew on it outside today. Rideable rights in the almost waist high size and everyone gets their turn on the ride. A few middle peaks popping up that look rideable and with the tide on the high side the inside Snags are not showing their teeth yet. Grab your log and find something here.

Daily Surf report - 3/6/2013

ATTENTION! We will be closing early today but will re-open tomorrow morning at our regular time of 10AM. Thank you.

Goodmorning to all of you purveyors of salty endeavors. It's quite the multi-personality morning here at the beach. It's sunny (for now) with the temp rolling in at a brisk 49 degrees. There are waves in the water BUT it's near Victory-at-Sea! It looks like it's nano-seconds between waves and there is also an on-shore wind that's heavier than a Sumo wrestler. However, if you're one of those people who love a lot of paddling and not much surfing, well then this is your day. For the rest of us without severe bad judgement abilities it may be a great day to get those things that you've been meaning to do, done. If there is a change later I'll be sure to update it here.

CHANNEL: The only thing I want to see churning is an Amish person churning butter, not the ocean. The middle bar and just about everything around it is tossing about like a chimp on ten shots of espresso. Sure, it's in the waist-to-shoulder size but nothing is clean and the lagoon is draining faster than the blood from Scott Peterson's face during sentencing. Maybe later with the tide change but we're expecting more rain and the wind is on-shore. No one masochistic enough to be out.

PATCH: Same as above only a bit smaller... and let's not forget those always happy-to-ding-the-crap-out-you-and-your-board rocks that lurk just below the surface of the Clam Patch. Oh, yeah those little ding inducing trolls will be making an appearence by about lunch time. I think DB is on her way over there as I write this. Maybe she is doing this for U.S. Navy Seal training? I dunno. Go paddle out and ask her.

Daily Surf Report - 3/5/2013

2-Mile Surf Shop will be CLOSED today and will reopen on Wednesday at 10am.

Goodmorning to all of you who slip, slide and glide! It's a glassy morning here today at the beach with an air temp coming in at about 50 degrees and the water temp just above that at about 52 degrees. Don't let this slate gray morning bum you out as there are some glassy gems out there for you to slide. So, snap on the black rubber, grab a big board and glide, glide, glide.

CHANNEL: The Channel this morning, with this out-going tide is bottomed out more than Jan Michael Vincent! Slush-y, unridable crud churnning at about knee high over the soon-to-be-exposed sand bar. Perhaps later today with the returning tide it could clean up and be operatable. No takers at the moment and for good reason.

PATCH: Thigh to occasional waist high rollers today. Mostly appearing in-and-outside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head. Some rights that eventually vanish into the hole that has resided on the inside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head for decades BUT the left out there today is absolutely wonderful. It's all glass but please keep in mind that the rocks that comprise the "Clam Patch" will be showing their collective teeth as this tide drops out a little later this morning. Daily Surf Report - 3/3/2013

Cloud cover and swirly wind, but not too chilly this fine March day. Rain expected this week, and we are seeing a little bit of the forerunning weather with some swirlling winds...Lot's of surfers out in the water already making a go of it and still some swell lingering around in town. Snag some surf before the SW winds show up and we batten down the hatches.

CHANNEL: bottomed out at the low currently, with waves in the knee to thigh and waist high range. Little bit of push, but some current flowing through the middle of the channel. About 15-20 surfers spread out along the pole like a gentleman's club, and some corners here and there. Grab a log or egg and slide it up, shorter boards not working as well as yesterday.

PATCH: clam patch reef is totally exposed so dig up some grinders on way waY wAY WAY outside. About 15 longdonboarders out there sliding on some knee to thigh high nuggets. Look for improvement as the tide fills in throughout the day.

Daily Surf Report - 3/2/2013

High clouds with sun burning through. Still expected to be a nice weekend as high pressure remains over the region. Light NE winds and a temp of 52F. New NW swell in the water with buoy readings of 8' @ 15secs. We definitely have rideable surf in town today for a variety of boards. Just hit low tide and swell still showing. Incoming should bring a bit more push. Bring yourself + family out to the beach and enjoy the day.

CHANNEL: Solidly rideable with waves in the waist to shoulder high range. Relatively smooth ocean surf as winds are very light. Not perfect and still sectioning at times but there are waves that hold up and allow a drop and a few turns and even a closeout barrel or two. Expected to grow throughout the day. Groin bar lefts are starting to work again and the right is still there as well. About 10 in the water on a mix of equipment today. More water will help shape throughout the day.

PATCH: Again rideable peaks popping up all over the Patch. Outside waves are rideable on SUPs or big boards that paddle well. Size is waist high + and mostly rights with a few lefts. Waves are scattered but there for the riding. Inside waves walling up and rideable as well. Watch for the exposed and lurking rocks as boards, knees and feet no like. Much more energy today. 12 in the water. Good stuff on a log.

Daily Surf Report - 3/1/2013

Sunny, beautiful, clear skies, no wind, birds chirping, etc, etc, etc. Air temp is 49F and high pressure is over the region. Looks like mostly localized windswell today with something on the forecast to fill in overnite into the weekend. Small waves and still a nice day to get wet. Perfect for beginners.

CHANNEL: Thigh high waves still breaking over the middle bar. Sectioning and closing out at times but a few rights and the occasional left hold up for better rides and a few turns. About 6 in the water on longboards already.

PATCH: Early morning foggy, mysto wave, Bros-For-Life session with Andre and TomBlair. Super low tide with lots of rocks to smash toes, knees and boards. Still a few waves popping up and best mid-way and inside. Slow motion rides but fun and the sun is now out in all its glory. Knee high + in size. 8 in the water and more heading out. Fun stuff on a big log.
