Happy Halloween to you surf ghouls and gobblins! It's currently 57 degrees and overcast. Now for the Trick or Treat part; Trick-- a feindish on-shore wind that is scaring the life out of any possible surf. Treat-- there is always the Giants World Series Champions parade in San Francisco. Hey, why not? You're already wearing orange and black!

CHANNEL: Blown out like Joe Namath's knees. On-shore making it more like the rinse cycle at the local laundry mat. Knee high and white capped. Good day for reading the latest Surfer's Journal (on sale here) along with a hot coffee (on sale elsewhere). One lunatic out there getting the Rodney King special!

PATCH: The Patch is SO ugly today that it could give asprin a headache. Knee high chunks being blown in with this on-shore that it looks more like the aftermath of a frat party that REALLY went wrong! Oh, the agony...

And a very good day to all of you purveyors of liquid dreams. The current temp is 53 degrees as the sun is peaking above a high wall of fog that is resting against the hills above Stinson Beach. There is a pinch of swell in the H2O this 'morn but with this rising tide it is making for a very soft and slow-ish ride. Big board and a hot coffee afterward.

CHANNEL: Below waist with an occasional (very occasional)chest high set wave over the Middle Bar. Long waits but not as long of a wait as at the airport TSA line....plus, NO x-ray machine to go through. Such a deal. Three (3) longboards and a janitor board doing the Fog Hat classic, "Slow Ride."

PATCH: Nothing really to report here. It's pretty....but it's also flat. Yep. Pretty Flat. Maybe later?

UPDATE!!! It has been reported that the Channel is breaking over the middle bar at waist high (+/-). Still glassy and SUPER FOGGY!

Goodmorning to all of you lovers of salt water realities. It is currently 54 degress and the fog this morning is thicker than a hipsters beard making it sans visibility here at the beach. There are the usual Dawn Patrol suspects cars in the parking lot with said owners and wave vehicles missing. If there is surf out there one cannot see it nor hear it. What I can see is that it is very glassy. Glassy what? Well, that is up to the wave explorer who is curious enough to find out. I will check later today and update as needed.

CHANNEL: Waist high (+/-) over the middle bar. Tune for the day here; "Log in the Fog Boogie (part I)."

PATCH: No visibility. No Update, either. Will update later if possible.

There must be a SUPer convention I was unaware of. Parking lot is full of SUPs coming and going. There is a shroud of fog sitting directly atop Bolinas at the moment, you can see the shimmering orb of light is trying to break through, but at present, visibility from the shore is zilch. Cool conditions and super glassy ocean surface make the sea appealing, but as for the surf...well, take your chances and paddle out. From the bouys it appears to be small NW swell and the South has all but disappeared. There are probably some fun little grinders out there to be had among the SUPs, my guess is ankle slappers to shin and knee crunchers at times.

CHANNEL: no visibility. Will update. Presumably shin to knee high. Saw several longboarders coming and going...

PATCH: no visibility. Will update. Almost all the SUPers, I saw 7 entering while checking, have headed in that direction...perhaps they know something we don't...

It's a great beach day with calm balmy conditions out here, warm water and some little waves slipping through. Great beginner day, grab a log, foamie, body board, handplane or swim. Get in the water!!!

CHANNEL: shin to knee, knee to thigh, riding high. 10-15 longboarders trimming it out on some little drooling peaks. Little soft now but should improve with the outgoing tide.

PATCH: fun and delicious sliders like last nite's White Castle meal. Bring out the broadsword and glide on some emerald cascaders. 10 loggers jamming out.

The sun is shining, it's calm and 48 degrees. A beautiful Bolinas day with a little lingering south swell, a headless sea lion on the beach, and only a few surfers! Great beginner fall day, calm, cool and looking fun on a log. Detroit Tiger fans need NOT apply.

CHANNEL: knee to maybe waist, only a few people out, super clean little rights and lefts rolling through. Mind your step walking to the beach.

Overnite rain but relatively light wind to start the day. Overcast and 51F right now. Ocean kicked up a bit with storm activity and a few pulses are out and rideable. Not the worst surf day and you can get wet if you want to.

CHANNEL: Not showing much except an occasional right rolling through on the Channel barl. A bit of Mali-Bo showing but inconsistent at best today. Size looks to be almost waist high. Tide is coming up now but if wind stays light the outgoing afternoon may deliver. Will update as necessary.

PATCH: Has some rideable surf in the waist high size. About 8 - 10 loggers out about mid way catching what comes through. Some are dumpy and some hold up but there are waves here today worth riding. Mostly rights with plenty of water covering the inside snags.

Good day to you all! Who's walking down the streets of the city? Calling a name that's lighter than air? Who's reaching out to capture a rainbow? Everyone knows it's WINDY!. It's an on-shore wind(y) at that! The sun is trying to fight through the menacing clouds that hover above. It's currently 55 degrees and it looks a bit dismal, kids but maybe later this too shall pass? I dunno. Maybe on a handplane/surf mat/paipo board a bit later...oh, and GO GIANTS!

CHANNEL: "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life." and that would pretty much sum up Dean Wormer's sentiments to a 'T' today concerning the Channel. On-shore winds and a huge tide make this look more like a scene from Titanic. Maybe later if the wind dies down, no rain falls and gas prices drop back down to a 1981 buck a gallon...yeah, right.

PATCH: HA! Read above and then apply where needed...only flatter.

Goodmorning to you dwellers of the sea! It's a breathtaking morning with high ceiling clouds as bits of blue and orange seep through to greet a new day. A little texture on the water and a small portion of a swell sneaking through. It's currently 50 degrees so dress warm, carry a big board and a bigger cup of coffee/tea.

CHANNEL: "Mellow" is the word I'd use to describe the Channel today and I do mean that in the 1970's sense of the word. About thigh to waist in size and a bit of texture on the water breaking over the Middle Bar. Though it's not breaking all that cleanly and is sectioning and closing more than front doors to an AMWAY sales person. Four longboarders are out there with afro wigs and bell-bottomed wetsuits trying to do the Larry 'Rubberman' Bertleman hustle right now. Fly Like an Eagle...to the sea.

PATCH: Texture and flatness accompanied by occasional teeny water bumps pretending to be waves. Perhaps later when the tide switches back to going out? Or, perhaps when switching yet again to coming back in? Both?

"Yeah. they call it stormy Monday..." Goodmorning everyone. It's a Vicorty at Sea morning with choppy, drunk, confused, disorganized surf pulverizing eveything. What with this high tide, rain and the aqua ugliness that is upon us it looks to be the perfect day for Navy Seal training. It's a Bobby 'Blue' Bland morning indeed.

CHANNEL: Choppy and stormy and crumbly and close-out everywhere. The only thing that will get through today is the Postal Service. However, there are three (3) postal carriers out there getting WORKED right now. Good thing there are no angry Pit Bulls in sight to complete their morning.

PATCH: Looking like Odd-Job from the old James Bond movies, All Chop. Not looking too good right now. This weather will need to pass for sure. Today at the Patch it's shaken AND stirred.

Daily Surf Report - 10/21/2012

Hop on Pop on Top of a Log - and go surf!!

Fall mornings and summer afternoons with cool morning temps giving way to warmth. Currently red / orange / blue sky morning with light off shore wind and temp of 50F. Smooth ocean surface with small waves marching towards shore. Longboards are the vehicle of choice today. Great day for beginners and those learning to surf. Drink your coffee and get on it.

CHANNEL: Thigh high lefts off the deep Channel bar with a pod of 10 surfers waiting. Knee to thigh high inside lefts off the Groin Pole look better and good for body surfing, boogie boards or quick drops on the surfboard. Morning tides are high - lows and afternoon tides are high - high so early efforts are best and possibly rewarded with waves.

PATCH: Glassy inside goodness with knee high + rights making an appearance. Rocks are covered but lurk below. Watch your fins and feet but ride some gliders here today. Only 4 in the water and sun is up on the horizon. A beatiful spot to start your Sunday. Bring out the tank and ride coffin style!

Daily Surf Report - 10/20/2012

Good morning surfers and water dwelling mammals. We've got some low level foggyness with sun slipping through from time to time, hopefully it will burn off soon. Pretty mild mannered morning, not as warm as the past few days, but a little calm offshore wind is coming and going, with a smooth ocean surface and teeny tiny waves rippling through towards shore. Longboards and Lager Loggers the call today, great for beginners and other surfers shirking their satruday morning responsibilities and morning cartoons. Eat your wheaties and get out there.

CHANNEL: six longboarders on it, riding and gliding the knee to thigh high lefts off the groin pole. Not much else offering itself up right now, but maybe we will see improvement if a magical swell rumbles in...things will get swampy this afternoon with the high tide.

PATCH: no one out currently but I did see some screaming shin crunching ankle mashing cylinders reeling through the inside patch. If you nail two longboards together I bet you could get one stellar layback lawn chair glide out there!

Daily Surf Report - 10/19/2012

1:00pm Update - Sun is now out. No wind and temps are warming up nicely.

Holy crap is it warm - again! 61F but overcast, slightly drizzly and humid. Not such a beautiful start to the day but hoping for sun later today. Still just small surf today but just enough to get a longboard moving and ride a few gliders. Great day for beginners and if significant improvement occurs we will update the report.

CHANNEL: Periodic thigh high waves rolling through on the Groin bar. Let's all count with The Count - 1 SUP, 1 longboarder and 1 shortboarder out. Incoming tide may give a push until it maxes out this afternoon. Outgoing tide has a big rip so be careful and aware.

PATCH: Small but rideable. Patch always has something if you bring your log. Shin burners and ankle busters with the occasional thigh high sneaker set rolling through. Tide is up so rocks are covered but watch your fin as they lurk below. The usual cast of characters are out catching the insiders.

Daily Surf Report - 10/18/2012

ATTENTION: To all of you "wall artists" that want to pretend this is the South Bronx and like to bomb the sea walls here at the beach...just remember that this isn't New York or any inner city. It's BOLINAS and PLEASE take your spray cans and garbage with you when your done pretending that you're in the movie; "Wild Style". Thanks.

Holy crap is it warm! A beautiful day out here at the beach, already 67 degrees this morning and should be heating up much more throughout the day. Not too much surf to speak of, but jumping in the water with a big log and cooling off could be the ticket this afternoon. Grab a pina colada, a fish taco, a big floaty board and enjoy this beautiful Thursday in Bolinas.

CHANNEL: oh baby I love your waves...and some little knee to maybe thigh high rollers are marching in this morning. Lefts and some bits and pieces of rights in the middle, about 6 or 7 longboarders making a go of it with a few SUP sweepers trying to compete with the offshore winds to clean up the texture out there.

PATCH: cookie monster must have been here because all that's left are crumbs. We've had a little surf here lately, but right now it is not looking very surfable. Little crumblers meagerly trying to break in the ankle to shin high range. Maybe with the tide push we'll see some improvement.

Daily Surf Report - 10/17/2012

ATTENTION: To all of you "wall artists" that want to pretend this is the South Bronx and like to bomb the sea walls here at the beach...just remember that this isn't New York or any inner city. It's BOLINAS and PLEASE take your spray cans and garbage with you when your done pretending that you're in the movie; "Wild Style". Thanks.

Good day to all of you aqua humanoids. The sun is already out as it is currently 52 degrees and it should warm up again making this a beautiful day. As for the surf...."Honey, I Shrunk The Swell." It's all still very log-able but one must have patience....and good paddling skills. Did I mention that there was no wind? Good day for them thar beginners!

CHANNEL: Like your seventh grade date for the homecoming dance-- not much happening above the waist. The Channel is rolling something in across the Middle Bar as well as the Groin pole but it's about waist high at best and not always clean. Big board and sun block.

PATCH: Thigh to knee. Slogging through the outside as well as in the Salad bar (also known as the Kelp bed) like a sloth after downing a couple bottles of cough syrup. Bigger the board the better the ride.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!!

Daily Surf Report - 10/16/2012

Good morning SurfTown! It looks to be yet another glorious day here at the beach. The the sun is up with a wind whistling a slight on-shore tune in the key of 'Walk, Don't Run.' The temp at this moment is a balmy 63 degrees. Yes, there is a swell staying here in town right now, so grab the hydro-vehicle of your choice and glide today.

CHANNEL: Las olas es muy bueno! There is a nice shoulder-to-occasional head high frame slipping through here on the Middle Bar and the Groin Pole. About ten customers with fake I.D.'s are sliding across the dance floor right now! Get down and boogie-oogie-oogie!

PATCH: Waist + here at the 'Ol Clam Patch. It's reporting action on the outside (Meeting Rock/Bulk Head/ Rock), middle Patch and even the inside AND the Snags! Free your mind and your log will surely follow!

Daily Surf Report - 10/15/2012

We are CLOSED today but will re-open on Tuesday at 9am. Sorry for any inconvenience.

A shroud of mist and fog is lingering over town right now, leaving the hint of the rising sun afterglow and glassy ocean conditions. Lot's of little ocean piggies and sea horses frolicking in the mornin' seaweed dew. Air temp about 56 degrees and no nihilists in sight...lot's of glassy ankle destroyers though, and maybe even some shipstern knee crunchers, smoke'em if you got'em.

CHANNEL: about 15 surfers out in some knee to thigh high uber glass logjammin' goodness, tide is super full, hopefully a little less water later will give the slammin' grinders a little more juice. Take out your fins and slip and slide your banana peel boards on the crystalline captain's orders.

PATCH: around 5 logjammer's gliding on knee high plus surf out in the patch, and several sweepers keeping it glassy. Grab two longboards and glue them together and paddle out on a cruise ship, take in the sights, snap a photo and a big drop knee cutty and wait for the clams to come home.

Daily Surf Report - 10/13/2012

Bolinas Food Festival - Today.
Featuring West Marin Chefs, Farms, Music & Fun; Benefiting the Bolinas Community Center kitchen upgrade. This should be a great sampling of local foods and food-related crafts with a fantastic music line-up, meant to highlight the incredible local food culture here in West Marin. There will also be cooking demonstrations throughout the day and fun zones for little kids and big kids alike. And to top it all, all proceeds from go towards improving/renovating the community centers kitchen, with the aim of further supporting local food businesses by providing a local certified kitchen space.

In the great words of the famous French dictator, "A throne is only a bench covered with velvet, and a surfboard is merely foam covered in fiberglass." In accordance with the coronation of a King, dictator, president, what have you, there is the occasion for horses to be admitted as guests of honor...in this case, a jackass may be seen looking for a seat at my table today. The surf is glistening like the fresh dew on a conquered enemy after a long night of battle...small swells of marching little oscillating soldiers meander through the ocean towards our shores, cascading brilliance as they fall, slain by the dawn dwelling mammals covered in repurposed petroleum, smiles upon there faces as we bury the souls of the waves in our memories along the littoral zone. It is calm here today, bustling in the town is a hum like the bees or Napoleon's colon before battle, the ocean surface is glassy and the sky is clear, and the god's breath is quiet and calm. Grab a parasol and some Sartre, lay upon the golden shores, dine upon lovely food and embrace your primordial mother in the swells of the Ocean, neglect your Oedipal complex and basque in the glory of the tides of life.

CHANNEL: super glassy little reelers, with only 4 or 5 surfers on it, grab a log and enjoy the knee to waist high grinders breaking here and there.

PATCH: small little glassy peelers, marching through here and there, only two SUPers on it and one surfer, having a tea party on the inside rights. Size BTW knee to thigh.

Daily Surf Report - 10/12/2012

BELIEVE.......
Welcome to Friday! We have overcast skies with the potential for sun today. Light overnite drizzle but no real rainfall. Currently 54F and again no wind present and a smooth ocean. We are between swells at the moment so not to much to ride out there but if you have a big board or are learning to surf it is a great day.

CHANNEL: Super glassy and almost flat with occasional waves rolling through at the middle Channel bar. Looks to be thigh high + and smooth with only 1 surfer out. A few dumpers on the inner Groin bar which look good for body surfing. Late morning outgoing tide may help with the shape.

PATCH: Small inside waves in the thigh high range and in the middle almost waist high. Intermittent peaks and soft but rideable on a big log of SUP. About 8 in the water now catching a few rights that are working. Tide keeps the rocks covered so this may be the better spot today.

Daily Surf Report - 10/11/2012

Nothing feels as good as a new wetsuit. Seems like now is the time everyone upgrades and gets their new suit for Fall and Winter surf season. If your current suit is old and leaky - get it dried out and patched and find something new to keep you warm and surfing during the colder months. Our racks are stocked with all the best suits for Men, Women and Kids from Matuse, XCEL, Rip Curl and O'Neill.

Good morning surfers! We have overcast conditions with the potential for rain today. Currently 55F and no wind present. May not see any sun today. For those wanting to surf the diminishing N swell and small S swell combo is producing rideable waves today. Smooth ocean surface and still some energy. Soup's on - Get it while is hot!

CHANNEL: Middle Channel bar has smooth and very rideable surf in the waist + size. Longboards are working well but if you are a decent paddler shorter boards can get in and make a few turns on the long lefts. 4 in the water on a variety of equipment.

PATCH: Showing lines with waves right around waist high rolling through the outside. 2 SUP's and about 6 on logs enjoying the smoothness that exists today. Get some waves to start your day right.

Good morning wave sliders! It's the middle of the week and the surf is about fair-to-middling as well. The current temp is 53 degrees as the sun is up with it's golden/orange welcome and that old Mr. Wind is nowhere to be found. Big boards and even bigger smiles are what is in the works today. Again, another excellent day for beginners.

CHANNEL: This morning we find the Channel tossing soft balls right over the inside middle bar in the waist plus/minus size. That's like hanging a curve over the dish and with a big enough board you are sure to hit a frozen rope right on the screws and into the gap for a stand-up double. Log = fun. Six players all suited up and doing the Casey at the Bat routine as I write this.

PATCH: Another mellow day in the Clam Patch. Just-under-waist high rolling through the middle of the Patch like moonlight through the pines. Two longboards and two SUP's singing Ray Charles classics right now.

UPDATE-- WE'LL BE CLOSING A BIT EARLY TODAY AT 5PM. THANKS.

Good morning to all of you denziens of the sea! The sun is out with it's gold toothed grin and no wind to be found anywhere. That little swell that was here has seemed to of packed up and moved on. Still, there is a teeny-tiny bump within the salty liquid that I am sure, with the right attitude and a big enough chunk of lumber one could glide their worries away. Excellent day for beginners.

CHANNEL: This spot is like the doctors office today. You're sitting there waiting and waiting and hoping for good news. Once the news arrives it's not quite as bad as you thought it would be but not as good either. Big board today and plenty of sun block. Six patients in the thigh + high waiting room right now flipping through three year old issues of TIME magazine.

PATCH: Not really a roller but rather a 'moving crease' that is attempting to look like a wave and it's moving inside. Perhaps with the tide the Patch will reveal it's goodness later today. One janitor board there buffing the hallways before class starts.

Happy lost explorer day to you! It promises to be another glorious day here at the beach. A smidgen of that SW swell is still lingering around making this a loggish sort of a day. The sun is up, the current temp is a cool 49 degrees but it's all glassy so grab a big board and glide!

CHANNEL: The Bar is open... as in a waist high set that is rolling though the Middle Bar for Happy Hour. Big boards will work here best, so saddle up to the bar and throw back a few. It's the only ride that you DON'T need a designated driver for! Only two patrons sipping Manhattans there right now.

PATCH: A little bit of a wait but well worth the waist high rollers that skate through here. The rocks are buried a bit by this high-ish tide so feel free to glide your cares away on the log of your choice. Three logs + two SUP's keeping the F-U-N in funky!

ALRIIIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTT...
Another beautiful morning here in Bolinas. The sun is shining and the ocean is glassy, air temp approximately 50 degrees. Some surf still hanging around and some folks taking advantage of it today. A lot of action going on in the city today, but it's a cool calm and far out morning here in Bo. Great day to cruise a longboard and to work on your skills for beginners. Radical

CHANNEL: Some waves breaking in the groin area, little reelers here and there. Seems to be in the knee to waist high range with about 15 surfers curlin' on longboards. Sometimes you ride the wave, and sometimes the wave rides you.

PATCH: Some pretty little lines flowing through here today, looks to be knee to waist with only several logjammers on it and an SUP. Grab the ol' hog and slide n glide till Karl Hungus fixes your cable.

Blue skies and sunshine with a few streaky red horizonal clouds this morning. Bo-beautiful day. No wind, glassy ocean and current temp of 52F. A great day to enjoy the beach in Bolinas. Warm water so ditch the hood, gloves and boots and tan your tootsies today. Still have some of the SW swell in the water and there are waves to ride. A good day to grab the log and go for a cruise or rent some gear and learn to surf.

CHANNEL: Pop up peaks in the Channel with waves going thigh to waist high at times. A crowd of about 20 in the water partaking. Best on the middle Groin bar but the deeper Channel and Seadrift are showing as well. Very little tide change today until the night so shouldn't change too much. Surfable and fun on a longboard today.

PATCH: The Patch has less ocean energy today but has not dimished the FUN. Logjammers in full effect. Solo session as Karl Hungus sleeps in. Grab your biggest board and a "Special" friend and ride some waves today. Glassy ocean with sun shimmering off the face. Waves anywhere from thigh to waist + in size. Rights that are working well. Run to the nose to generate speed then off to the races. Inside boil maneuvers keep it interesting but no rocks are exposed. The Patch will keep you smiling today.

Blue skies and sunshine with just a few streaky clouds this morning. No wind to speak of and a current temp of 56F. Looks to be a great day to enjoy the beach in Bolinas. Smooth ocean surface with a bit of surf as well. Little bit of South swell showing in the Patch this morning. A good day to grab the log and go for a cruise or rent some gear and learn to surf.

CHANNEL: Channel small waves in the thigh high range. Looks smooth and rideable but currently no takers. Mostly hitting on the middle Groin bar and a few rights worth checking over at Seadrift. Not much tide change today so don't expect much change in size. Still can be surfed on a long board.

PATCH: The Patch is the place today with about 20 surfers and SUPs spread througout the area. Way outside, middles, the inside snags as well. Long waiting period as per usual with Souths but when the waves come they are smooth and approaching waist high +. Grab your big board and paddle out to join the fun.

Daily Surf Report - 10/4/2012

A balmy 59F but overcast with marine layer currently in town. Hoping for sunshine later today and nice weather. A bit of wind giving some ocean texture to the surface but still rideable longboard peaks are available for those that want to surf. A good day to grab the log and go for a cruise or rent some gear and learn to surf. Currently empty lineups but a few getting suits on and walking down to the beach.

CHANNEL: Channel still has waves that are mostly thigh but sometimes waist high in size. Still looks smooth, clean and logable on the middle bar. Incoming tide may help but it is working now so get on it. 2 guys heading that way and more to follow.

PATCH: The Patch has thigh to almost waist high waves this morning with peaks popping up all over. Inside, outside, the Snags, Green/Africa et al. Not as glassy as the past few days but big logs and SUPs will score today.

Daily Surf Report - 10/3/2012

Goodmorning to all of you hydrodynamic operators! The third day of the month finds us with a slightly decreasing swell, yet there is still something out there to be had. As it is sunny and currently 56 degrees, it will heat up like a 1960 Chrysler Imperial with the windows rolled up on a Sacramento August day, so I don't see why one wouldn't have a fine day at the beach. Just remember; Sun Block!

CHANNEL: Right now the Channel is at about thigh to occasional waist high rollers. It looks to be working primarily on the Middle Bar. Maybe when the tide comes up so will the wave height. Three cowboys working on their bull riding skills in that particular corral right now. Get on your steed and ride! Yee-haw!

PATCH: The Patch is being very surprising this morning as it's out performing it's cousin the Channel (!) as it's producing waist+ undulations all over the place. Inside, outside, the Snags, Green/Africa et al. Glassy, sunny and rolling along like a skid row bum who just found a winning Lotto ticket. Ten humanoids on Logs and SUP's just layin' back, relaxin' and diggin' themselves. Procure a log and roll, homie.
