Daily Surf Report - 12/22/2011

I love winter. Today is the Winter Solstice.
Frost covered valleys all perfectly white with thick coated foxes out and about. Sun rising above the hills starting to warm things up. Calm winds and NW swells in the water. You will need the hat and gloves in the morning and the sunscreen on your face. Currently 52F and beautiful.

Peaking high tide has swamped the scene out. Water up to the foot of the bott ramp at this time. But, the tide is changing and change is good. Bolinas tends to like an outgoing tide with swell in the water. Set your sights on later today through the afternoon as I expect conditions to change for the better.

Channel: Big mushy peaks that break left and reform on the inside and create a little Mali-Bo right. Too much water right now and marginally rideable. 2 guys sitting on the middle bar. Abouth thigh to almost waist high.

Patch: Periodic waves here. Lots of tide not helping too much. Breaking on the inside when it happens with waves about knee to thigh high.

Limited Edition Surf Art posters are available in the shop. Numbered and signed by a Sonoma County surfer/artist/historian. Pick one up for the surfer in your family. Makes a great holiday gift and supports a local artist.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.
