Daily Surf Report - 1/5/2012

And it is back. The swell and waves that is. Good size and period SW swell kicking in this morning. Crowd is back and fairly skilled today so take it easy and pick your waves carefully.

Beautiful weather with light offshore winds, full sunshine and current temp of 45F. Good day to call in sick and go surf as tide is heading low and it should actually get better.

Channel: Chest to neck high waves with consistent lefts breaking on the deep bar. Very shortboardable today. About a crew of 15 - 20 on it. Look both ways before dropping in to make sure no one is behind you - then charge and fly down the line.

Patch: Waist high surf breaking outside. Super clean and smooth today. Longboards and SUPs on it with numbers around 10. Plenty of waves to catch today.

Also a 3 - 4' shorepound good for bodysurfing, handplanes and breaking necks!

Important Note from the Bolinas Fishing Community:
When heading out the Channel the boats have a very narrow slot to navigate and during big swells fishermen have to "thread the needle" to avoid having their boats dumped by waves. The boats dont have the ability or opportunity to veer away from oncoming waves and must take them straight on. Surfers - please practice Ocean Courtesy when boats are heading in and out of the Channel and paddle out of the boat's path to let them through.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Tides:
High: 8:08 am 6.0'
Low: 3:21 pm 0.0'
High: 10:34 pm 4.3'
