Daily Surf Report - 6/20/2011

Today is International Surfing Day 2011. Get in the water and clean up your local beach!

6/19/2011 @ 2:00 pm - a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted a 10-foot-long great white shark 200 - 300 yards off Stinson Beach. The shark was headed south according to the Coast Guard, so a warning was issued. Stinson Beach will remain open and people will be allowed to wade in the water, but lifeguards will stop people from going into deeper water through Thursday. If there are no more sightings the rest of the week, the deeper waters will be reopened by Friday.

Sunny day out here in Bolinas this morning. Little to no wind. Water is glassy, waves are small. Makes for a great beach day.

Channel: Waves are mostly lefts and breaking in shin, knee maybe a bit more range. Working at the Groin and Channel bars but low tide needs to fill in for improvement. 5 scattered surfers in the water on longboards with a few small waves to ride.

Patch: Low tide with lots of exposed bottom. Not currently surfable but incoming tide should help.

Beginner surfboard SALE! 2-Mile Surf Shop is still making room for new inventory and clearing out some USED foam and Softop boards. Perfect to learn and practice your surfing on. These are the same boards we use to teach surf lessons.

Isle SoftDeck Surfboards:
The Isle SoftDeck epoxy surfboards are built in a standard ECORE epoxy construction then wrapped with a 1/4 inch supersoft EVA foam decking on the top deck and rails. The soft deck has built in traction with no wax needed. You get a real epoxy surfboard with a soft deck so your ride is nearly identical to what you would experience on a regular epoxy surfboard. And you also get the extreme durability of epoxy construction so you can be confident they will hold up against the wear and tear of the beginner surfer.
