Daily Surf Report - 2/12/2014

We are closed every Wednesday for the month of February but we will re-open this Thursday at 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Good morning to all of you slippers and sliders of the brine infused realm. Every so often this happens... the unwelcome 'day after' flatness that has seemed to have ensconced itself into our little watery haven. It's like the oceans version of a hang over. Why has Neptune and Poseidon forsaken us? The skies are overcast. The temperature is still a comfortable 50 degrees, but why-oh-why is there no surf....or no more rain? You may ponder these questions today and hope for a wetter tomorrow.

CHANNEL:  Unfortunately it's flat here. Maybe it's the tide? Maybe it's the aftermath of the Pineapple Express? Maybe it's one of those age old mysteries such as; Where is Jimmy Hoffa's body? How come you never see baby pigeons? Why are there SUP's? All these nagging questions...

PATCH: Not even a ripple.

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT.
Respect the Beach.

TIDES:

HIGH: 8:53 am 5.8'

LOW: 3:46 pm 0.1'

HIGH: 10:47 pm 4.9'

WINTER HOURS are now in effect. We are now open daily from 10am - 5pm from NOVEMBER through APRIL.

Come out to rent if you need gear. We have a full selection of suits, boots, boards, and SUPs to rent every day and are only 522 steps to the beach.

Lots of NEW and USED boards are in the racks so come check it out. Full wetsuits, 3 and 5mm booties, hoods and gloves are in stock as well. If you are in need of a new suit or board now is a great time to shop. We have all the gear for your cold water surfing needs.

Daily Surf Report - 2/10/2014

We will be closing early today but will re-open tomorrow morning at 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Good morning everyone. Well, it looks as if the rain has passed. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand we need the rain bit on the other hand it'd be nice to surf again. Well, even with the sun playing a bit of hide and seek today and the temperature coming in at 53 degrees we're still supposed to get off-and-on showers through the day and the ocean hasn't quite cleaned up as of yet. If anything changes for the positive in this regard I will update you with the info right here.

CHANNEL:  Angry slop that isn't really surf by any measure. Maybe later? Possibly tomorrow? Stay tuned...

PATCH: Trying but not delivering. Ankle sized lines come through but nothing looking like a wave. Just like I mentioned above... maybe later...tomorrow?

Daily Surf Report - 2/9/2014

Closing early today due to foul weather and adverse surfing conditions. Will re-open tomorrow morning at 10AM.

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings." - Salvador Dali

Good morning people of the liquid environs! Rain is upon us and man, it's really great! Granted, this sudden precipitation can cause everything from floods to landslides but as we all know, it was getting dryer than a lizards butt on a Death valley summer's day around these parts, so keep the rain coming! It's currently 55 degrees here in town and this rain is coming down in buckets. The surf? Ha! It's a washing machine out there with nothing remotely ride-able. I suggest a movie today and that movie is a documentary, 'A band Called Death.' Seriously. Great flick.
Needless-to-say, but I will anyway... shop hours will be limited today as to the foul weather and non-existent surf conditions dictate.

CHANNEL:  Not even remotely should you drive all the way out here in this horrible weather for no surf! I don't care if you can't surf during the week because of work. Be grateful you have a job and as I tell the groms that come around here whining on flat days, "Guess what? The ocean will there tomorrow and there will be other days of stupendous surf! As for today...? It's not one of those days."

PATCH: Are you kidding me? Didn't you read any of the above report? There's NO SURF, kook! Look, you don't have to stay home, but you just shouldn't come here.

Daily Surf Report - 2/8/2014

LIMITED TO NO HOURS TODAY DUE TO BAD WEATHER AND SURF CONDITIONS.

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” - John Muir

Stormy Weather -
Don't know why there's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together,
Keeps rainin' all the time

Life is bare, gloom and mis'ry everywhere
Stormy weather
Just can't get my poorself together,
I'm weary all the time
So weary all the time
When he went away the blues walked in and met me.
If he stays away old rockin' chair will get me.

All I do is pray the Lord above will let me walk in the sun once more.
Can't go on, ev'ry thing I had is gone
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together,
Keeps rainin' all the time

CHANNEL:  Heavy rain and lots of S winds.  Disorganized and non-surfable conditions.  Please think twice, thrice, four and fives times if you are considering driving out to West Marin for a beach day.  The true chargers, rippers and desperadoes may know of spots that can handle these weather conditions but Bolinas is not one of them.

PATCH:  See above and repeat.  Stormy, white-capped, wind-whipped and double-dipped.  Truly a day to do something other than surf.

Daily Surf Report - 2/7/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.” - Albert Einstein

Bleary and dreary morning with rain that is heavy at times, light at times and definitely wet and wild with winds.  Expected downpours with significant rail totals through the weekend.  S winds on it now and no real groundswell to speak of.  Just micro-peaks of tattered windswell for your non-surfing enjoyment.  It is 52F and overcast.  Limited business hours will be in effect if inclement weather continues.  Still a great time to browse the selection of new and used boards in the shop, or grab a good book, some crystals and find a dry cozy spot to hunker down.

CHANNEL:  Sloppy and small like Pig Pen.  Foamy whitewater in the knee high range but not really waves just wind whipped slop.  Empty lineup currently.

PATCH:  See above and repeat.  Small and messy.

Daily Surf Report - 2/6/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“The world is but a canvas to the imagination.” - Henry David Thoreau

Scattered rain showers with periods of clearing skies.  Likely to be wet on and off most of the day.  Moderate SE winds and mostly messy conditions here today.  Little pieces and parts but no real swell activity - just NW windswell.  Sloppy overall but hasn't stopped the van full of guys from giving it a go and all had morning smiles.  Beats working.  Currently 48F and overcast.  Not raining now but will be later.  Doors are open but limited hours under these conditions.  Surfboard racks have been upgraded and we have plenty of great boards to peruse in the shop.  Good time to get something new now and surf later.  WHY wait?

CHANNEL:  Whitewater here and there and just a few corners that look thigh high and possibly, potentially rideable for those with nothing better to do today.  Needs less wind and more swell to really start working again.

PATCH:  Pieces and parts.  Almost waves and maybe knee high +.  Again for those that need to get wet the ocean is open to all.  Wash your crystals in the rain and polish them up tonight.
