Daily Surf Report - 8/31/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Life is more or less a lie, but then again, that's exactly what we want it to be." - Robert Zimmerman

A determined chill sits at the table, even though a glowing sun has already served coffee, and it's clearly time to go. Early risers are taking advantage of the remaining swell, though current tidal levels leave much to be desired. A mix of hope and a deep confusion turn the mind into a collage of static and mixed messages, as the number of vehicles parked does not match the numbers of explorers upon the seas. Open your mind, focus all chakras on achievement, and remember, we are all in this together. (pause for laughter.)

CHANNEL: A swirling mass of white water and multi-directional madness. As the breakers themselves seem conflicted on their destiny. They meet with  head down and shoulders leading, and the inevitable crash spits froth and spray onto the dreams of sliders and seekers. There is reason for rejoicing despite the current findings, as those with the right vision can see possibilities as the hours continue.

PATCH:  Those preparing to enter the fray sans paddle should pack strong shoulders and a solid constitution, as all activities occur far outside, though some might judge those activities as worth the struggle, as marginally consistent sets in a mid-body range are sometimes 3 sliders abreast in the morning sunlight, which casts inaccurate reflections of excellence.  This space will be the place, and should see a cast of thousands throughout the morning and into the endless afternoon...

Daily Surf Report - 8/30/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do." - Isaac Asimov

A bight sunshiny day is upon us. A beautiful start to the week with temperatures already at 63F. Bring your shades and sunscreen today, if this weather continues throughout the day you'll need them. High hopes and rising tide has us on our toes. Looking very fun at the moment in every direction. Come out and make some friends because its going to be packed.

CHANNEL: Knee high rollers tumbling in from the abyss. Some seem the be folding over on themselves leaving a wall of white water to be ridden but some lasting longer.

PATCH:  Several breaks to choose from out here with rows of sets coming in. Keep your eye out for the rocky tips- or avoid with a longer paddle out. Starting to build up a crowd with its consistency. Can range from knee- waist.

Daily Surf Report - 8/29/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together." - Jack Kerouac

*Brilliant sunshine and soaring temps have graced our day.  Let the games begin.

Perigee moon rising though an enigma through the mist and falling rain.  Even unseen, the powers are majestic and perfectly suited to washing and charging crystals to cosmic levels beyond human comprehension. Desire runs high as tidal conditions remain modest.  Winds puff from a southerly direction and NW swell has not been fully realized to an appropriate degree.  A blended miasma of atmospheric conditions has us on full alert that the end may be near.  No sun and little hope for a full reveal.  Warm and humid at 65F with forming puddles to cleanse the soul.  The scent of hunger is in the air today and the true believers will find a meal.

CHANNEL:  Desperate desolation descends during the early hours.  While many sleep there are still those carrying pure optimism and ragged boards to the water's edge.  The value may be unseen to the naked eye yet lay within the heart and soul.  All this and more is here for the taking now and will ultimately change for the better or worse later.

PATCH:  Untapped potential upon uncharted waters.  If less = more then we are all lucky today.  Less water and waves, mixed with more sand and rocks has the Patch on permanent leave this morning.  An unexpected return can be forecast if you read the tea leaves and consult higher powers.   For now you can get wet with just a walk to the beach and don't even need to jump in.

Daily Surf Report - 8/28/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The power to question is the basis of all human progress." - Indira Gandhi

Comedic wall jockey morning as a triumphant trio plans their assault upon the oceanic elements in play.  Others have forsaken sound reasoning and thrust forwards blindly into the breach.  Temps soar to 64F as spirits rise to the occasion of the approaching weekend.  Clear skies and sunshine are on tap and pouring freely.  West is the key component of swellular activities though current water levels are not fully realized.  Hunt and seek for those truly committed.  Everything is out there - laying just beyond your grasp.

CHANNEL:  Minus tide and maligned angles have sliders up / then down like bowling pins on league night.  7 - 10 splits are the norm and gutter balls are being thrown with reckless abandon.  Windows will open for short periods today.  The question is will you know when and where to look?

PATCH:  Veteran wave seekers wanted here.  Those in the know with palpable experience may find treasures of unlimited value upon these wasted shores.  Now, shorebirds dine on morning delights while outside rights begin to wake up to a new day.  As water levels rise so should your attention as you must look beyond the trees to see the forest.

Daily Surf Report - 8/27/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness." - John Muir

Pristine morning in most aspects with clear skies and chipper temp of 57F.  Get the blood pumping as you take off your shoes to walk barefoot over cool asphalt and sand.  A small W swell percolating this morning and giving reason for the thin parking although expectations must always be tempered with reason.  Glorious out on the water with glassy calm periodically broken by wistful rollers of the micro-slide tribe.  All faces contain smiles and no one is questioning WHY?

CHANNEL:  A pushing tide and a determined league has aggregated themselves firmly.  W/NW swell angles lend a curving bend to those bumps that form from the deep and develop into watery bliss.  Destinations vary as the camber increases but by any account more water will help revamp the current climate.

PATCH:  Awash in sunshine and curious sea-life, shorebirds and sand.  A splendid harbor upon which to walk and uncover nature's mysteries.   Devoid of surf currently though a rogue inside peak has knee high aspirations with more tide.

Daily Surf Report - 8/26/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The first lesson a revolutionary must learn is that he is a doomed man." - Huey P. Newton

A possibly unjustified anticipation greets us as defiant rays of light beat through the early fog, and the mercury sets a determined path for afternoon bliss. The crew of wall-toppers and train spotters ranks higher in number than those in the sea, and a quiet desperation is palpable. Parking spaces have become ghosts, but logs remain firmly strapped and mounted to roof tops, as if a hunting trophy. 'Tis possible to find treasure in the froth and mist today, but you must understand what you seek is already found.

CHANNEL:  A starting five is digging for gems, and on occasion unearthing them in the form of an outside left providing yardage and first downs. Lacking in stature, but being pillaged nonetheless. As the tides dance and glide, the benefits will ebb and flow, so the enlightened slider must know when to go, and then go further still. Goonies never say die...

PATCH:  Barren. Lifeless. Abandoned too soon. This is the way, step inside.

Daily Surf Report - 8/25/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:

"You can kill a revolutionary, but you can never kill the revolution." - Fred Hampton

Yet another morning to gaze unto a deepening gray. Pull the blankets up and wrestle the snooze button into submission. Though the mercury declares itself at 58 degrees, those on the ground beg to differ. A frightening and definitive stillness stares back from the abyss as we look towards briny waters. Be the open-eyed man falling into the well.

CHANNEL:  A fierce trio has suited, booted, and trudged blindly forward, against all medical advice at the current hour. Micro peelers and the sound of windmilling shoulders float on gusty breezes. Look towards the latter part of the day to increase your chances of stoke, but only marginally, as overall punch is sorely lacking and lagging.

PATCH:  This humble narrator struggles to find the words to describe, with candor, the  lack of activity one finds currently. Maybe these maps and legends have been misunderstood.

Daily Surf Report - 8/24/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"You don't have to teach people to be human. You have to teach them how to stop being inhuman." - Eldridge Cleaver

In between days and in between tides as those who seek slides have only themselves to deride as we turn pale blue eyes towards the sea. Though word is that the sun will make itself known, the level of plausible deniability is high. Parking is ample, and with good reason, as the stillness overtakes all desires. The day may provide you with the soul's nourishment, but that will take patience and the hunter's heart. What's in your metaphysical wallet?

CHANNEL:  A lone face gazes towards the horizon and legs dangle into dark waters. There is time for contemplation, and time to measure regret, as the shapes approaching shore are merely suggestion, and our hearts seek form that simply does not exist at this early hour.

PATCH:  Even through the clouds and mist, the stillness is the only light we'll see. The silence is truly deafening. It's all running out like it's the end of the world you said. Cleanse the third eye and look inward, as the sea will not feed your need in the early hours of the morn.

Daily Surf Report - 8/23/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence." - Leonardo da Vinci

A rather typical morning here in Bolinas. Temperature standing still at 62F but like always feels a bit more chilly. A waiting game is in play for better tides. Awkward shifts have us confused on when is the right time to strike. As of now several bobbing heads are afloat wondering whether their expectations will be met. Parking is a plenty and a shortage of sun may be the reason.

CHANNEL:  A popular choice this morning. 10 or so gather and wait and wait. An occasional shin high slow rollercoaster is chased by few. With no tide changing much more than the other, hard to say what it will turn into.

PATCH: If you like to sit on your board come here.

Daily Surf Report - 8/22/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." - Charlie Chaplin

A rather egalitarian morning with welcoming aspects for all those sane enough to venture forth.  Temp holding fast at 62F and skies show clearing potential as fog retreats. While premium slides are a questionable objective, the day is young and holds promise if not outright deliverance.  Summer winds remain a nagging nuisance though they have been diminishing later in the day.  Minor swells barely showing a burble or blip remain in play and the weekend norm.  Foxes and ferrets determine the route one should travel while reasons to become neoprene clad are few and far between.

CHANNEL:  With little tidal swing upon the pendulum the peaks don't pop like one would hope.  Windswells of the NW variety not formulating the microcosm to sustain our current population.  Though non-regular rides are obtainable one should consider adding superior length to your sled of choice to help optimize the options.  A day to keep you mystified and morose....for now.  I love daisies.

PATCH:  A lingering voice from far south calls out to you and lures those who view the world prismatically.  Darkness does beckon all nocturnal creatures and the morning light reveals the destitute situation.  Lesser options have existed but why fight the hustle?

Daily Surf Report - 8/21/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"It was a splendid summer morning and it seemed as if nothing could go wrong." - John Cheever

An unholy greeting as fine mist permeates and pelts one's ocular orbs driven by SW winds.  Though not deterring the neoprene clad and log laden from making their way towards the ocean's edge.  What you will find resides in your mind's eye and determination can be a fickle fiend.  The determined sally forth in seek of smooth slides and long rides with outcomes unknown and stories weighing in the balance.  Be true to yourself and set free all your inner demons.  Now is the time to jump in with both feet and come out a better person on the other side of the vortex.

CHANNEL:  Cold-cocked by new tempests that refuse to lay slack.  The only game in town and therefore resonating with a magnetic draw.  A smart mixture of watercraft involved in a search and destroy mission laying waste to all manner of bump and roller.  Seek what nurtures but do not expect to find all the answers here today.

PATCH:  Few words are available to describe the empty desolation.  Not a sound-minded soul attempting the water dance.  Improvement may come but the when remains the mystery.

Daily Surf Report - 8/20/2015

CLOSING EARLY 5PM TODAY

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"I get up in the morning looking for a new adventure." - George Foreman

A fine and feral mist lingers but soars high above.  At a terrestrial level winds remain light and a trace NW windswell begins to take shape as water levels have positive heights and solid vibes.  Though smooth forms can be discerned the slides are of a lesser quality.  A slight perking of the senses and buoy blips have those of the logjammer clan garnishing early rewards before the cold winds blow and all dissolves into inertia.

CHANNEL:  A triumphant trio soon to be a quartet has lucked upon a slippery slope and discovered reluctant yet rideable peaks upon which to do the dance of love.  Nearly less than adequate in quantity but enough to fill the soul and warm the heart of any surfer in search of that one wave to start the day.  Tides are not a factor this morning though winds may play a formidable role later in the day.  The time is now if you wish to strike.  Be like the cobra and make your mark..

PATCH:  Though water levels have graced the Patch with resources upon which to play one still sights upon a plateau of desolation.  Save for one standing tall and one laying low, the expanse is an unbroken horizon which harbors no salvation.  Those already in the mix have tossed all hope and cares aside while they search for the secret meaning of life and death.  Shapes of merit will be hard to come by today but don't let that ever stop you from the pursuit.

Daily Surf Report - 8/19/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:

"An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way, an artist says a hard thing in a simple way." - Charles Bukowski

A muddled bank of clouds and fog as we gaze yet again at the sea. The zephyrs have yet to make themselves known, but have been invited to the ritual. Black Metal vibes and limited slides as we contemplate other pursuits, such as returning to the warm arms of slumber. Old flames, they can't warm you tonight. The early hours bring little nourishment to the slider's soul, but look into a future immediate, and offerings may be had, however meager.

CHANNEL:  A duo unburdened by reality swings limbs akimbo in chase of forms non-existent. Though we applaud the effort, one questions the motives. Too litte water, too much sand, and everyone knows that the dice are loaded.

PATCH:  One knew, even before venturing towards the day, that one would not gaze unto a barren patch this fine morning, and that vision has been laid bare. Yet another pair of the paddle clan has laid claim and is panning for gold.  A mix of carbon and molded plastic swings furiously in the breeze, and the chase is on. Even these warriors, despite the tactical advantage, are finding only frustration. As sands through the hourglass, the shapes we seek will be fleeting this day. Black-eyed dog he knew my name...

Daily Surf Report - 8/18/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:

"A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do." - Walter Bagehot

Heavy gloom and low clouds as the fog has returned conditions to their natural order. The zephyrs reek havoc upon small seas at this early hour, as whitecaps and chaos leave one searching for meaning. The line-up is thin should you want to climb in, though you may find the current offerings bland and tasteless. Low water levels need more spice to make the dish palatable.

CHANNEL:  A six-pack of the black clad attempt to make mountains from the small hillsides on tap currently. Inconsistent at best, delusional at worst, the determined push blindly forward. Expanses of sand, as the marker acts as road sign and mirage. Though shapes are visible, they lack form or substance, and beg inquiries on the nature of reality and things taken for granted.

PATCH:  An empty patch speaks a thousand volumes, as even the tribe o' the paddles has given in and given up. Solitary and uninviting rocks protrude from frothy seas and act as warning, not the siren's call. As is so often the case, an increase on tidal push should present shadow and filigree, but the hours dictate the day's possibilities...

Daily Surf Report - 8/17/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"A philosopher is a sort of intellectual yokel that gawks at things that sensible people take for granted." - Alan Watts

Look around, leaves are brown, there's a patch of sand on the ground. Smoke sits and makes haze while the sun shines. A quiet morning that shall not remain so, as high temps drive souls to the coast and nerves towards the always frayed edge. Parking is plentiful, even with abandoned taco trucks on Occupy status on the avenue. Time is indeed a flat circle...

CHANNEL:  A trilogy of tribe members perform miracles upon level seas at the current hour, as shapes of import are as rare as common sense. Water levels reflect the uncertainties of the life we lead, as a small coterie gazes from the wall and contemplates all manner of slides. As is the custom, tides will advance and retreat, your own plan of attack remains a mystery.

PATCH:  An eerie and persistent silence as water fowl dive and weave through warm zephyrs. An empty patch screams in futility and frustration. Bodies gather at water's edge and seek sanity among the disturbed. The day ahead should bring opportunity, where will you be when it makes itself known?

Daily Surf Report - 8/16/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"High expectations are the key to everything." - Sam Walton

Hazy lazy morning as red streaked skies fill our vision.  Ojo rojo becoming the norm as blazes continue and the horizon shows little promise.  I've got a mouth full of waffles and a mind full of miscellaneous thoughts.  All is ready to spew forth and enlighten those that wish to know more.  Temps will soar high while surf will remain low.  Humble happenings here as minor swells blend and fade leaving all longing for more please.  Modest movement of the ocean is cause for pause and reasoned decisions.  Another morning optimally suited for walking beach expanses as low tide sucks dry and holds for a beat.

CHANNEL:  Levitational aspects as many walk on water to explore uncharted destinations once thought unreachable.  All shallow all the time without a surfer to break the silence though dogs do bark an unseen foes.   Cool now but will warm rapidly and fill with many looking for oceanic answers to life's biggest problems.  There is help and hope out there - if you know where to look.

PATCH:  Nothing of note save for a solitary paddler making a long journey to the far reef and beyond.  The curtain has been pulled back with rocks and kelp forming the playing field of the early.  Less water and evanescent swell holds us in a paralyzing grip.  The aqua is warm and inviting with suits nearly optional.  Discover a new way to enjoy the beach and pass the stoke along to those you interact with.

Daily Surf Report - 8/15/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Courage is the ladder on which all the other virtues mount." - Clare Boothe Luce

Cheery morning for the dissolute and unaffected.  Skies are clearing and promises are being made with a high probability of actuality.   Barren seascape tells the early tale and parking is wide open to all comers.  Mainly NW windswell in play with a background S that may just be too steep to show and throw.  Try Wait is our mantra today as time and tide will lend an improving hand in the final outcome.  A fine beach day and plenty of sand available for digging pursuits.  Lather up and jump in but mind the depths as early water levels remain at none.

CHANNEL: A lone surfer wades into the shallows with desires that cannot be quenched.  The smell of rainbows fills the air and unicorn dust is graciously sprinkled on all surfaces.  Solitary pursuits are best un-witnessed so I shield my eyes so as to not have them burned out.   Formless waves with little destination are the best one can accomplish at this hour.  If you know from hunger then this can be a palatable pastime. Otherwise, time now is best spent with strong tea and soft music.

PATCH:  A glistening expanse best suited for viewing and exploring.  Crevasses hold treasures and secrets and they can all be yours today.  Communicate with nudibranch and crustacean and learn the language of love.  Abandon hope and ship but resolve to find positivity in all other aspects of your day.

Daily Surf Report - 8/14/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Don't fight forces, use them." - R. Buckminster Fuller

A clear blue upper atmosphere and sunshine greet us this fine morning.  Blazing with opportunity and vibes off the charts.  A willowy 62F now with predictions near 80.  The groundwork has been laid and the foundation set for new SW swell migrating up the coast. The best laid plans can be utilized unless sub-optimal water levels foil.  Consult tea leaves and tide charts as well to determine best ocean access periods and fear not as time heals all.  Now is the waiting game while those that froth make futile attempts and those with patience plot and plan.  Get in where you fit in and make sure to always maximize your stoke.

CHANNEL: Featureless folding waves and a fully exposed beach dominate the early morning.  Less than no water making a worthy comeback but will require more hours than most can justify.  Now you must sit and wait and wait and sit.  Utter desperation is not in our vocabulary.  We ain't got no high here today.

PATCH:  More rocks than water.  More conjecture than confluence.  More SUPs than logs.  Translation = a flat and lake-like surface suitable for swimming and paddling.  Those that stand tall yet sometimes fall are holding court at the outside meeting rock where worthy conversations take place.  Low activity levels displayed and no waves being ridden currently.  Time and tide will tell a later tale.

Daily Surf Report - 8/13/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Amazement awaits us at every corner." - James Broughton

Foundational fog and coastal overcast as the morning norm once again.  No sunlight breaking through and expectations run low.  Temp balmy at 64F and ripe with humidity.  A prescient calm binds the town and winds remain non-existent.  An oily surface upon which to bob and weave / hope and dream / as the tide fills in to adequate levels.  Tiny energy blobs are your only salvation today as rumbles and ripples are few in the making.

CHANNEL: Three amigos like our crystals above sharing stoke and joy on life in general.  A pushing tide buoys expectations though reality plays a significant role in lack of slides.  Though a left will appear and likely caused by only NW windswell, its volume triangulation remains low on all scales.  There is little to be had here and even less for those that don't make the effort.

PATCH:  A rocky outcropping gives solace and value to the landscape.  Devoid of water and surfers as well it is currently owned by tidal creatures and those soaring above in search of squishy morsels.  A whisper of SW swell is in the air though circumstances prevent it from showing.  A hike is in order, a surf not so much.
