Daily Surf Report - 3/7/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“You are what you give; not what you are given.” - Sir David Tang

Coastal cloudiness has given way to morning sunshine.  Light winds that blow offshore / sideshore today and temp is 51F.  We're back to sunny times through the weekend according to reliable sources.  West swell combo with a background South giving us a cornucopia or choices today.  A potpourri of options as it is a bit jumbled but does have energy behind it and lines are on the horizon.   Early morning high tide dropping out so favorable to wave shape but will soon be too low and rip things up.  Get your favorite stick waxed up and head out now.  Enjoy a day of surf and keep your crystals close.

CHANNEL:  Smooth wave faces and scattered peaks.  Competing swells sometimes line up to produce a nice clean wave that goes waist high + in size.  The lefts have the best surfing potential but it is a bit funky and jumbled so finding the right one takes some effort.  Definitely something out there to get you board moving in the right direction.  Low tide coming soon so jump in now or wait until after lunch.  Even straight out from the Boat Ramp has waves and a lone longboarder is giving it his best shot at glory.

PATCH:  Peaks all over the place and most way outside.  Size ranges from thigh to waist and a bit bigger when the swells combo up.  Long rides to the beach and longer paddle back out!  Smooth ocean but lots of swell activity keeping it far from organized.  Still lots to ride and about 10-12 surfers are in the water.  Lefts and rights and rights and lefts are out there.  Track one down and enjoy the ride.

Daily Surf Report - 3/6/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” - Epicurus Greek Philosopher

Overnite rain but clear and calm this morning.  Currently 55F, overcast with a few patches of blue sky.  A bit of swell out there today - a bit jumble but lines to watch and waves to ride on a longboard. Combo swell out there but really low tide with tons of beach exposed just now.  If weather stays calm we should see some increase in surf throughout the day.  Kill some time and give it a check in a few hours.  Find your magic wave today.

CHANNEL:  Super low tide has sandbars exposed and needing more water to get working for surf.  1 shortboarder bobbing around in the waist high water but not catching any waves which are sloppy and small.  Give it more time for tidal change and this spot may deliver.  Now - not.

PATCH:  Way downtown and way outside there are waves.  Looks to go waist high and there are a few surfers out there now well past the meeting rock..  It's shifty but rideable and lefts and rights can be had.  More water will help clean it up but for now it can be surfed - to a degree.

Daily Surf Report - 3/5/2014

We are closed on Wednesdays through the month of March. We will re-open tomorrow at 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“If you're not going to go all the way then why go at all?" - Logan Bernard Frazier

Good morning to all of you practitioners of the slide. It's overcast with a wind just starting to pick up. Rain is due later today and yes, that is good. It's 57 degrees out and the birds are staying home and so is the sun. One word today; Umbrella. There is a bit of some swell out there, albeit a tad mixed and the tide is coming up.
It's your call.

CHANNEL:  Waist (+) with nothing too great to report as it's all sloppy and choppy. The line up says it all...empty.

PATCH:  Waist high stuff waaaaaay outside past the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head. Some go left, some go right and some don't go at all. It can be a good exercise session... or not. About four (4) there now with a proverbial Jamboree of logs, Janitor boards and even Bill on his wave ski.

Daily Surf Report - 3/4/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“I do the very best I know how, the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end." - Abraham Lincoln

Good morning peeps. I hope you weren't expecting great surf news of biblical proportions as I can't seem to pull of the Charleton Heston for you this morning. Sorry about that. It's off-and-on clouds this morning though showers are expected again for later today. The temperature is a mellow 57 degrees as there is a very slight on-shore breeze ruffling the water surface a tad and the water is still an effervescent ca-ca brown. Not a lot surf to report as you're not really missing anything. As my grandfather used to say; "Boy, sometimes you have to eat a lot of s*** before you know what a sirloin tastes like." If things do indeed change for the better I'll post it right here... if not, I won't.

CHANNEL:  Waist high white water belching over the exposed sand bar. No one here and for good reason.

PATCH:  Waist high chunks that pop-up all over the place then go away. The pulses are really close together and all over the map. Again, the water is yucky, so if you REALLY feel you need to paddle around here today PLEASE be sure to shower well after the session and rinse out the eyes, ears and nose. Three (3) way outside bobbing around.

Daily Surf Report - 3/3/2014

We are closing early today but will re-open tomorrow at 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer." - Denis Waitley

Good morning to all of you plank spanker's. It's another winter morning here at the beach with the temperature coming in this morning at double nickles (that's 55 degrees for those who have not consumed their morning 'wake up' juice as of yet), with overcast skies and a good chance of more rain due in (we still need it, kids). The wind is on-shore and the swell that was here already has a foot out the door. However, forecasts which can go either way are calling for a little bit of a swell to pick up for a minute by the middle of this week. We'll wait and see. My advice to you today is simply two words; Stay Home. If you do decide to go out anyway PLEASE be sure to shower VERY well once you're home and focus on the ears, eyes and nose because when there are rain storms, there are loads of ugly things in the water that can make one very sick.

CHANNEL:  The only difference with the Channel today and a full toilet bowl being clogged while simultaneously being flushed is reading material and TP.
One (1) desperado out there now playing the role of the 'Tidy Bowl Man' and without a plunger.

PATCH:  It's the winter time drink, called the brown, rough and stinky... and when served in the Clam Patch it's on the rocks. Both shaken and stirred. No one drinking this cocktail as I write this.

Daily Surf Report - 3/2/2014

We are closing early today but we will re-open tomorrow at 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches." - Alice Roosevelt Longworth

Good morning to all of you amphibians of the sea. Now for the news; Oooh... not too sweet out in the brine this 'morn. Lumpy and crappy pop-up brown things that look like they could be waves but end up being drunken sailors on shore leave. People are out there trying to "surf" but people generally have the blind arrogance of their colonizing ancestors and attempt the conquering anyway. If you find yourself driving all the way out here to paddle around in unstable, brown, semi-polluted water then go right ahead. For the rest of you, continue on with plan B as the surf will eventually come... it always does and always will.
And now here's Bob with the weather; Thanks, Jim. It's 55 degrees with gray skies, on-shore wind, drizzle/rain. back to you.
Now to sports. Take it away, Skip; Okay Bob. Boy, that Japanese pitcher for the Yankees sure has a wicked slider. back to you.
And finally, the traffic update with Kimber; Thanks, Bobby. Light traffic this morning here at the beach... did see a fox on my walk here and the parking lot is almost empty.

CHANNEL:  One word; UGLY! Still, six (6) people are trying to do something... I dunno? Surf, perhaps? The best bet is to wait for this on-shore ugliness to subside as the water looks the color of what undoubtedly is floating in it.... poopy.

PATCH:  Terrible. I watched six (6) people for over twenty minutes do nothing but paddle around the rinse cycle desperately looking for surf and only one (1) managed to catch a chunk o' crap and ride it for about thirty yards then it fizzled. Do what you want but I'd wait this out.

Daily Surf Report - 3/1/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”- Coach John Wooden

Wet and wild times today with SW windswell of decent size and plenty of E winds.  Jumbled and messy with an incoming high tide that has the fisherman and wave watchers up the ramp to avoid getting wet.  Currently 56F and not raining.  Patchy skies that are clear now but rain is possible throughout the day.  A few are suiting up to brave the conditions and there could be a few rides to be had.  Roll the dice, rub your crystals and take a chance at greatness today.

CHANNEL:  Churned up and sizable with choppy wave pieces that are shoulder high or bigger.  Not clean and not very rideable but that is not stopping some from putting on suits and heading out.  Board choice of the day is any beater you have that will take damage as there will be some rounds of battle won my Mother Ocean today.  Shaka shaka gnar gnar.

PATCH:  Stormy conditions and white-capped as well.  Funky and junky and disorganized as the cherry on top.  Chest high chunks of water here, there and everywhere.  Ho brah.
