Daily Surf Report - 11/30/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:  "Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only he who keep his eye fixed on the far horizon will find his right road" - Dag Hammarskjold

Keep your eyes on the horizon indeed my friends, as the current conditions have little to offer. 55 breezy degrees  and a wind-blown soup is all the immediate view will provide. Stay in bed vectors with black tea vibes.

CHANNEL:  Blown in/out and very small, no swell is the name of the game today. Very little that's surf-able. Stay tuned, as late afternoon may bless us with improved conditions.

PATCH:   Tremendous movement and fury signifying nothing. Wind chop and white water are on this morning's menu. Not even the heartiest of souls trying to siphon a ride.

Daily Surf Report - 11/29/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:   “The earth has music for those who listen.” George Santayana

Over cast and breezy out there with mist hovering over the town. Not too chilly at 59F at the moment, but expected rain may be coming soon. Looks like a nice day to sit around, get cozy, and eat your leftover pumpkin pie, but not to surf.

CHANNEL:  Small and choppy. All waves were taken on Black Friday with nothing left for today. Nobody out and nothing to ride. Sad day in the channel.

PATCH:   Almost as bad as the channel. water rushing on but very messy. Not a real wave out there. May shape up later in the day but doubtful with the upcoming weather conditions.

Daily Surf Report - 11/28/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains!" - John Muir

Sunshine and clear skies as we shake off the Tryptophan and roll out of bed.  Another beautiful north coast Fall day is upon us.  Temps starting cool at 47F but expect pleasant temps into the 60s with rain on the horizon.  For now it is truly a great day to be outside and partake in all of the wonders Mother Nature has to offer.  A bit of NW swell in the water and tides are finally cooperative.  A bit directionally dysfunctional as nothing hitting really clean but there are a few bumpy bumps to get you up and riding this morning.  Pack a turkey sandwich for later and have leftovers and waves all day.

CHANNEL:  Thigh to waist high but a bit too N to be really clean at the moment.  Early morning high tide heading low could improve shape but for now sectioned and chopped like the leftover pumpkin pie you may be eying for breakfast.  Never mind the conditions as the day holds potential and 1 good wave will seal the deal in a positive manner.

PATCH:   Outside waves starting to break then back of a bit.  Inside waves reforming and rolling through.  A bit indecisive like going back for 3rds at the Turkey Table yesterday.  Is it worth a dip?  Was it worth extra stuffing and bird?  You decide and let us know the results.  Wave height heading to waist high and above when breaking.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING - WE ARE CLOSED TODAY TO CELEBRATE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.  WE WILL RE-OPEN TOMORROW AT 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest." - William Blake

Its another beautiful north coast fall day. The sun is out, the breeze is warm and mother nature is alive and well in BoBo. The sleeping lady looks down on our little bay this morning calm and mellow. The swell has come and gone leaving us with flat conditions and plenty of beach to hang out on. Lets hope the surf picks up with the changing of the tide later on today. Current outside temp is 58F with the forecast to be in the low 70s today. So get outside and enjoy this gift of today.

CHANNEL:  Diminishing swell likely to deliver mushy conditions like the mashed potatoes on the table tonight.  Possibly worth a portion or two depending on your appetite.

PATCH:   A cornucopia of delights like the chestnut stuffing Aunt Minnie makes and spiced up nice as well.  Smother in gravy and count your blessings today as ankle high surf pulses through.

CHANNEL:  Flat and mushy conditions prevail in the channel and groin pole this morning. If any kind of peak is making it in, it is quickly rolled over to white wash. Sea drift is not looking any better.

Daily Surf Report - 11/25/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world."  Mahatma Gandhi

Another beautiful north coast day is upon us. The sun is out and and a warm breeze is making the rounds in BoBo this morning. Clear skies and nice waves are on the menu today. The changing tide has left the NW swell pushing into the bay to bring us some workable waves. Current outside temp is 54F with highs expected today to be in the low 70s. High tide is three hours away, so get here and get out in the water.

CHANNEL:  Great looking sets rolling into the channel and groin pole. Waist high waves with great shape and consistency. Sea drift looks to have a small break to this morning with nobody around to surf.

PATCH:   This is the place to be this morning. Log heaven. Beautiful small sets rolling in breaking into knee to waist high faces. A lot of people out in the water taking advantage of the awesome conditions at the patch.

Daily Surf Report - 11/24/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
The privilege of a life time is being who you are."  - Joseph Campbell

WOW! Happy monday. What a beautiful morning in our little piece of heaven. The sun is out, the air is clean and crisp,no wind and the flanks of the sleeping lady are a bright green. Classic north coast fall day is unfolding in front of us. A brisk 48F to get things started today. The forecast for the holiday week is for temps to be in the 70s. A slight NW swell is keeping the bay alive and ride able this morning. Great time to come out to BoBo and get in the water.

CHANNEL:  Incoming tide is pushing a lot of water into the beach. Waist to chest high waves way out side of the channel and groin pole. Great shape and consistent sets moving in. Nice little rights working into sea drift. Lets hope these conditions hold up.

PATCH:   Great shape and rolling along into the patch. Knee to waist high waves with plenty of room to work. Looks awesome. The changing tide has a way of smoothing things out, so get here and get in the water.

Daily Surf Report - 11/23/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
The sun will come out tomorrow." - Orphan Annie

Well tomorrow is today as the sun is back and potent as can be on this festive Fall morning.  Clear skies are the norm again and temp chips in at 49F to get things rolling rolling along.  A day to savor with no wind and a peaking NW swell.  Tide is fairly full now and still heading towards peak so starting to swamp out and slow down.  Still limited beach access and the seawalls are not your friend so steer clear at all times.   A good day to be contemplative with your time as the surf is there but not for amateurs.  Ride then hike then surf again may be the best plan as the water levels are the leveling factors today.  A great beach day if you can make it to the sand and and even better day to be out in nature soaking it all in.

CHANNEL:  Incoming tide is starting to slow and swamp the area but still showing a few set waves that go chest high and split both right and left.  A bit soft but enough to get a longboard or egg heading down the face and making some turns.  Inside Mali-Bo rights are working as well if you can hold your spot on the Groin pole and let that wave pick you up.  The Seadrift dawn crew is already heading in so likely something over there worth a look.  Be mindful of the tide suck as it heads low all afternoon and goes negative in the evening.  Should improve the shape and will also pull you out to sea for a quick Stinson visit - intended or not.

PATCH:   Signs of life and smooth rollers pop and break on the outside with size lurking along at waist high.  A fine contingent of logs and SUPs are on it this morning making for a dandy day of wave riding.  High tide levels make access an up and over journey with a few wall climbs involved but the reward is likely worth the effort.  As tide peaks check the inside Snags for shore pound dumpers that will give a thrill before the spill.

Daily Surf Report - 11/22/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain." - Dolly Parton

Won't you follow me down to the r...ainy-day parade? It's another beautiful morning with rain and wind and the leaves rustling and trees falling. Keep an eye out on the highway as branches and trees litter the road. As for the surf, it is victory at sea with mushy lines in the ankle range rolling through. The tide is peaking and swamping anything that could be out. Maybe with a different tide, the waves could improve, but today seems like a better day to sleep in with some tea and a warm blanket by the fire or heater.

CHANNEL:  Incoming high tide is swamping it out and the swell is barely visible. Mushy as a pug's face out there and not nearly as cute. Big current and lots of wind. Know your limits and don't turn your back to the ocean.

PATCH:   Just as mushy as the channel with less size, peaking at ankle high. No one out and it looks like the stormy scene from Puff the Magic Dragon.

Daily Surf Report - 11/21/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill

Sunny morning and glorious in all respects.  No rain today and crystals are all aligned for success.  No wind and chill temp clocking in at 53F.  A great day to get outside and put on a wetsuit as well if you are so inclined.   NW storm swell still in play and peaking high tide makes for a dicey entrance and exit.  Mind the wall and watch for sleeper waves.

CHANNEL:  Mali-Bo hi-jinx as incoming tide and NW swell has the rights rolling through and occasionally holding shape.  Long rides into the Channel are possible with proper positioning.  A few reelers and dealers suitable for ferrets, marmots and corgis.  Size running waist high or better but shifty at best.  Outside Groin bar has a few waves but the high tide is starting to swamp it out and kill the buzz.  Lefts can be had if you hold the correct spot.  Know your surroundings and make sure the tide doesn't push you off the peak.

PATCH:  Small and rideable with rights in the thigh to waist high size range.  SUPs and logs have migrated here in the early morning and access requires a sherpa with knowledge as water levels are high and beach levels are nil.  Truly a beautiful morning no matter where you surf so throw on a suit and get waves.

CLOSING EARLY DUE TO RAIN AND LACK OF CUSTOMERS.
OPEN TOMORROW AT 10AM

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“How do you know you're going to do something, until you do it?" - JD Salinger

Damp but not raining.  Moistness but no mist.  Overcast and calm with a temp of 53F.  Actually quite pleasant for outdoor pursuits.  Storm surf from the NW and still a bit churned up from yesterday.  Starting to calm and clean up though and surf potential is on the horizon.  Hold your crystals close and hope for positive futures.

CHANNEL:  Has a left worth looking at and riding as well.   A lone surfer taking the gamble and it is paying off currently.  Size is waist to chest and it is occasionally clean.  Just off the Groin bar with not much else worth noting.  Keep an open eye and mind on this wave.

PATCH:  Sloppy and choppy morning with leftover whitecaps and hacked waves.  Needs time to recover from the rain storm and get back into shape.  Try wait.

Daily Surf Report - 11/19/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Ambition is the path to success, persistence is the vehicle you arrive in." - William Eardley

The sleeping lady has awaken to water running down her flanks this morning. Heavy rain and wind dominate our little bay as a storm makes its presence known. White caps and a storm surge cover the water and the beaches. If there was ever a day to stay in bed, hang out with your sweetie or curl up on the couch and watch cartoons, today is that day. Happy hump day folks. The much needed rain has arrived.

CHANNEL: Completely and totally blown out, washed out, and stormed out. Rough water in the channel, groin pole, and sea drift this AM.

Daily Surf Report - 11/18/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Empathy fuels connections." - Shelby Russell Neubauer

Good morning folks. A thin haze covers the sky around the sleeping lady this Tuesday morning. High tide and a stiff wind are on the menu for BoBo today. White caps cover our little bay keeping the surf non-existent. Outside temp is 58F with the forecast for rain to start some time tonight. Lets hope we get the rain we so desperately need. I don't think the surf gods will mind.

CHANNEL: Completely blown out. What the wind has not knocked down the high tide has washed out. Sea drift is along for the ride. Good day to fly a kite.

Monday morning breaks over our little piece of heaven with clear sunny skies and a warm breeze. High tide rules the bay  this morning keeping the surf out of the way. Current outside temp is a warm 56F with the forecast for the low70s today. Another epic fall day to get out and explore your neck of the woods.

CHANNEL: Flat, not even a ripple to work. The channel and groin pole are under the spell of the current high tide. Not much more happening over at Seadrift.

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“Human nature is like water. It takes the shape of its container.” - Wallace Stevens
Clear as can be this morning at a warming temperature of 56F. Clouds above the shop but no fog today. A bit of swell still lingering and expect the day to shape up nicely. About to be a beautiful day out here in happy Bolinas, come out and enjoy the weather.  Make new friends and hunt for crystals.

CHANNEL:  Not much wind so far. Looks pretty out there, but not so big. Ride-able shin-knee high rollers right now and about 8 people already riding. Find the best wave and make it yours.

PATCH:  Knee high waves coming in every few with the occasional thigh high. Slow moving water but it's working all the same. Make a friend with the lone seal popping his head out to say hello.

Daily Surf Report - 11/15/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"It is better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life." - Elizabeth Kenney

Spectacular and sunny morning.  Low level ground fog and streaky colored skies greet us with a temp of 52F and offshore breezes.  Expect warmth and good times in the water as a bit of swell remain and the winds are trying to groom things up just right.  Tide has peaked and is heading out.  Water levels keep things chill today and the parking lot is rapidly filling up with frothing weekend warriors.  Take a breath and slow it down.  The ocean is waiting you to enter and rejoice in her wonders and gifts.  Share a wave and give a smile.  You will be rewarded ten-fold later.

CHANNEL:  NW winds trying to clean and groom the Groin bar lefts today.  Still has some sections but rideable in the thigh high range.  Outgoing tide helping a bit but the swell is dropping so if this is your spot get on it today.  Middle Channel bar chopped with wind and outgoing tide.  Maybe Seadrift holds a secret as a few emerged from abroad with tales to tell early this morning.  Adventure out and find the wave of the day.

PATCH:  Still working with a little size decrease.  There are smooth rights that hit waist high and peaks outside that will allow for longer rides.  The northern left has potential as well and with plenty of water the inner Snags will show its stuff.  Bring your log and find your comfort zone here today.  Already about 20 in the water with more heading out.  Saddle up and ride folks.

Daily Surf Report - 11/14/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results." - Willie Nelson

Sunny morning and glorious Fall day as well.  Chipper at 56F with low 70s predicted.  No wind and clear skies after a brief day of rain.  Swell in town for a visit and surf has come along for the ride as well.  Nice NW groundswell in play with tide levels very cooperative.  Clean and lean with surf to ride in both spots.  Suit up and ride as the future is always unknown but the present exists for you now.

CHANNEL:  Cleaned up from yesterday but still a bit sectioned.  The better lefts are off the Groin bar and run almost waist high but hold shape longer for a few more turns.  In the middle Channel and at Seadrift we see bigger surf but not as clean with closeouts to navigate to find that perfect peeler.  Outgoing tide could clean it up and make it more profitable for longer rides.

PATCH:  Back in action and delivering surf in the waist high + size.  Plenty of peaks showing and water levels are up therefore letting the swell in.  A full compliment of water aficionados on it this morning with numbers up to 20 wave riders.  Join the fray and bring your log and you will have a smiley Friday.

Daily Surf Report - 11/13/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Search out your space, discover your solitude, and leave the turbulence of daily life behind.” - Anonymous

Good morning.  Overnight rain and stormy conditions have delivered us a whitewater bonanza day at the beach this morning.  Chopped and hacked and generally messy.  Skies seem to be clearing and sunshine is a distinct possibility today although not sure when.  Temp rings in at 62F and humidity is 96%.  A day of peace and calming thoughts could produce clean and rideable surf tomorrow.  Today is better suited to buying surfboards versus riding them but that is your decision to make.

CHANNEL:  Pieces and parts of waves.  A dynamic duo battling the elements as we write.  Yes you can stand up but only go straight so far.  Needs to calm down and clean up to really be considered rideable.  Size is waist high.

PATCH:  Yesterday's glory is gone and today brings messy / post storm surf conditions.  Slop and whitewater.  No organization and likely not very fun.  Still, it is a free ocean and you can venture forth if you so desire.
