Daily Surf Report - 5/3/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties.” - Harry S. Truman

Sunny yes with a few streaky clouds on the horizon.  Start your day nice and see where it takes you.  There is potential for greatness if you are open to variations.  Temp is 55F and should stay moderate to almost warm today.  Minor puffs of wind that neither hurt nor help so far.  Venture down the gopher hole but mind the "friendly" squirrel and all foxes.  Take the path untrodden and see where it leads.  S swell fades today and morning water levels are very low.  Incoming tide push and possible NW windswell gives a bit more juice later in the day.  For now it is a beautiful morning to be at the beach and ride a wave or two.

CHANNEL:  Morning low tide and still dropping but that is not stopping the intrepid dozen that are on it early and spread out from the Groin across to Seadrift and all parts in-between.  Exposing sandbars make for shallow conditions but there are a few inner spinners in the knee high size that may just allow you to strut your stuff on a big board.  Waves appear like mirages on the horizon and the lucky ones get the dreamy rides.  Afternoon should be better with more tide and a NW swell starting to fill in.

PATCH:  Way outside find that meeting rock.  Use it as your marker and take off zone as this is the only place with enough water and does have a rideable log wave.  Jacking up to thigh high here and rolling through both right and left.  Not a whole lot of energy left but with no water you can't be too picky this morning.  1 surfer on it now and he has reserved the Patch until 9am when the tide finally hits low and things shut down.  Free swim and surf hours will be from 10am - 10pm today.
