Daily Surf Report - 4/30/2013

2Mile Surf Shop will be CLOSED today. We will NOT be open until WED with our new Summer hours from 9am - 6pm.

Overcast and a little grungy, about 53 degrees, with variable light winds, bobcat scat on your front porch, and exposed reefs. If you're making the journey out, waiting games is where it's at, SUPER low tide this morning has things shut down at present, but look for improvement as the day proceeds. Have your breakfast with the Seavers, bacon, eggs and coffee and get the Sunday started.

CHANNEL: Sandbars exposed and rippy looking water conditions. Not much going on at present except for teams of weekend working otters trying to be beavers and making dams of sand that resemble the hydraulic expertise of the Panama canal tech crew. Nothing happening now, look for it to improve marginally throughout the day...no one currently braving the double over plankton conditions.

PATCH: Clams and oysters duking it out like Tyson and Holyfield, reef completely exposed, get your front row seats to the starfish half time show with sea cucumbers and monkey faced eel kabobs...no surf presently, maybe with the afternoon high tide...

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

TIDES:

LOW: 8:06 am -1.4'

HIGH: 3:20 pm 4.7'

LOW: 8:03 pm 2.3'

Daily Surf Report - 4/27/2013

2:00pm UPDATE:  Full sunshine and warm temps.  Incoming tide giving us fun Channel waves in the thigh to waist high range.  Patch rights also working.

Morning cloud cover, overcast and foggy.  Seeing the sun will take a few hours but it is out there and ready to release warmth upon the area.  No wind and a current temp of 53F.  Low tide / No tide conditions right now but still a smooth ocean and small waves.  Perfect potential for later in the day as water fills in.  Waves are small and nice for beginners.  Grab a coffee, wax em up and get ready for a great beach day.

CHANNEL: Nearly thigh high waves at the Groin bar that are loggable and smooth.   Shape is decent and more water + the right big board will get you smiling as you glide and slide today.  Seadrift has a few waves worth exploring as well and incoming tide will help throughout the day.  Afternoons have been fun.

PATCH: Willing to work and trying to break in the Patch today.   A few outside peaks are popping up and surfers are there and on it.   A small inside right on the edge of the Snags but too much exposed bottom to make it happen.  Tide is turning around and filling in so give it a few hours and check back as there were rideable thigh high + waves here yesterday.

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 4/26/2013

Morning overcast already giving way to blue skies.  No wind and a current temp of 55F.  Super smooth and glassy ocean with low tide conditions right now.  Still a little bit of S swell remaining from a very steep angle.  Small surf conditions and perfect for beginners.  Pack the SUV and bring the whole family.

Road construction crew in the center of Brighton so SLOW for the cone zone.

CHANNEL: Thigh high waves making an effort in the Channel as tide starts filling in.  Very smooth and very small but shape is decent and the right big board will get you into some soft lefts.  Seadrift has a few waves worth exploring as well and incoming tide should help throughout the day.

PATCH: Wants to work just not enough water.  A small inside right on the edge of the Snags but too much exposed bottom to make it happen.  Tide is turning around and filling in so give it a few hours and check back as there were rideable thigh high waves here yesterday.

Daily Surf Report - 4/25/2013

Overcast, light fog and mild with the temperature coming in at 55 degrees.  Sun will come out but not until around noon today.  Light winds but not effecting the surf.  Tide filling in and a few small waves to get.

Road construction crew in the center of Brighton so SLOW for the cone zone.

CHANNEL: Thigh to waist high waves making their way into the Channel as tide fills in.  Looks smooth and groovy with the better lefts grinding along towards the beach.  Not exceptionally clean and sometimes sectioning but there is something out there at the Groin Pole, Middle Bar and Sea Drift. 2 loggers out there now digging the peace and quiet.

PATCH: Scattered peaks and waves today but with the incoming tide should start to clean up and organize.  Still have a bit of S swell in the water which gives that extra little push.  Pick a spot and sit on it as waves will come to you.  Exposed rocks inside but the Snags are rideable with a keen eye for boils and a bit of surfing savvy.  Big boards work best as expected.

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 4/24/2013

ATTENTION! We will be closing today at 4PM. We will re-open tomorrow at our usual time of 10AM. Thank you.

Happy Hump Day to all of you lovers of surfboard riding. The temperature is slinking in just like after a night of heavy drinking at 53 degrees as the sun has gone back into the witness protection plan. There is a pall of gray cast down upon our fair little beach community as there are patches of fog around West Marin, so drive carefully. The winds are here but very slight (for now) and the tide is on the in-coming side of things. There is a bit of a bump in the water so bundle up and try to get what can be got.

Message for the day: Minds are like parachutes... they only function when open.

CHANNEL: Waist-to-occasional chest high donkey punchers. The Groin Pole, Middle Bar and Sea Drift side all have something going but only occasionally is it clean. With a little patience and a keen eye one may obtain the glide of enlightenment. Go, now and when you can snatch the Sex Wax from my hand, then it will be time for you to shred. Four (4) followers of the Shaolin Bo-Bo glide are cross-stepping their path to enlightenment now.

PATCH: Tired of that same old "no surf" crap? Well, your ship has now come in with the new "Patch-O-Matic!" Waist (+/-) high on the outside, middle and inside as well as Green/Africa and even the Snags. How much would you pay for this? Well, don't answer yet as these little crumblers can glide and slide you into a smile faster than YOU can Julian French fries! Yes, it's just that easy. With this in-coming tide you better act fast as this is a limited offer. Do it today! Operators are standing by. Seven (7) various big-board craft there now doing what one does on these various craft(s).

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 4/23/2013

Happy Tuesday morning to all of you creatures of the brine! It looks to be yet another wonderful day here at the beach! The temperature is coming in at 53 degrees BUT it's also a bit windy as well. There is a SW wind that is chopping up the water surface more than a Benihana! None-the-less there are still some folks bellying up to the bar and ordering the Tempura.

Message for the day: Listen to LOTS of Jazz!

CHANNEL: Thigh high wind chop foamers slurping across a busted and broke sand bar. Wind + High Tide = Yuck. Maybe later? I've seen more people in Detroit. Zero (0) humanoids in the Channel.

PATCH: Thigh-to-the occasional-above waist high peaks all going right (in a section-y manner), HOWEVER there is a load of cross-chop spewing from the Duxbury direction coupled with a wind making it seem almost like the tornado scene from the Wizard of Oz. The high tide will most definitely kill it, so maybe later at the tide turn-around... if the wind subsides. Six (6) longboards looking to set sail for the high seas. Ride, Captain ride...upon your mystery ship...

Daily Surf Report - 4/22/2013

Goodmorning to all of you purveyors of sliding and gliding goodness! It's another glorious morning here at the beach! The temperature is bouncing in at 55 degrees as it promises to be a record high today... (fingers crossed) and though the surf is less than stellar, one could still have a great day at the beach! So, tell your boss to go milk a duck and come on in, y'all... the water is fine.

Message for the day: Lot's of sunblock!

CHANNEL: Thigh-to-occasional waist high boppers rolling in to the tune of Charlie 'Yard Bird' Parker over the middle bar creating a proverbial mix of lefts and rights, Sambas and Bop. It's almost "April in Paris (with strings)" but not quite. Leave the small instruments at home and make the scene with the double-bass and pick up what the Channel is laying down. Two (2) on logs just digging the scene, man.

PATCH: Thigh-to-the occasional-waist high glide. It's all happening right smack dab in the middle of the Patch and with this up-swing of a tide the rocks are covered BUT this spot will soon run outta' gas at peak tide. A liberal "mix of six" (6) longboards, custodial board and even a wave "Does this make my butt look big?" ski.

Another beautiful Bolinas sunny Sunday out here! Pack the sunscreen and umbrella drinks campers, looks to be another gorgeous day!  Looks to be a little bit of longboardy surf out there so Enjoy the Day!

A big shout out for Ian MacLaird, local surf instructor and leadership honcho, on his 30th birthday weekend!

CHANNEL: 6-8 people rocking out in the middle of the channel, guys on it early getting some little Malibobo right peelers and some middle channel presents here and there.  About knee to thigh high and pretty looking, grab a log and jam it!

PATCH: swamped out with one guy doing the rock urchin pop and lock over the reef, looks to be about knee high and cruisy.

Daily Surf Report - 4/20/2013

Remember the days before everyone had a cell phone glued to their hand and head?  The shoe phone still rocks!

Bo-Beautiful morning in Bolinas today.  Full sunshine, very light to nil wind.  Temp clocking in at 55F with low 70s expected coast side.  Mystical, magical, crystalline, micro cylinders making their way towards shore today.  Great beach day and perfect for making sand castles, not so much for surfing.  Surf remains small and tide dependent.  Leave the fish, shortboard and other high performance gear at home and pull out the log, hand plane or boogie board to get wet today.

CHANNEL: A select few waves showing up intermittently and sporadically.  Not consistent or juicy.  You may want to explore Stinson by paddling across the Channel to Seadrift to find a bit more wave energy.  1 surfer in the water just at the Groin pole.  Evening high tide gave slightly more push and many more people last night.  Size looks to be thigh high +, at best.

PATCH: Very small rollers day.  S swell has a bit of an uptick on the buoys but not quite translating yet.  Tide is heading out so get on it.   Logs and SUPs and SUPs and logs will be congregating here.  Afternoon incoming tide had surf a bit more rideable yesterday.  Knee high.

Daily Surf Report - 4/19/2013

Another sunny morning now that the light fog has burned off.  Again light winds and temp of 52F.  Beautiful beach day here in Bolinas.  Inland temps expected to increase and mild to nice weather will be the norm coast side.  Surf conditions remain the same with a very steep but small S swell and still some NW wind swell in the water.  Small surf and long lulls between sets but the big, big, big board will do the trick.  The crustacean crew pulling out the 10' boards to go for a paddle and hopefully find a gem to ride.

CHANNEL: A bit churned up in the Channel and at the Groin but a few pieces and parts of waves are showing up.  Nothing too great but something to get you moving if this spot is to your liking.  At least 1 surfer in the water and looks fun for bodysurfing as well.  Size looks to be thigh high +

PATCH: Small  bumps but rideable today.  Tide is heading out so get on it.   S swell spitting out smooth waves but long waits between sets as is the norm for S swells.   Logs and SUPs and SUPs and logs moving this direction.  Afternoon incoming tide had surf with size running 2 - 3' last night.

Daily Surf Report - 4/18/2013

Super sunny morning with light winds and temp of 53F.  Inland temps expected to increase and the beach is beautiful today.  Very steep but small S swell and still some NW windswell to get you in the mood today.  Small surf and long lulls between sets but the big, big, big board will do the trick.

CHANNEL: Flat situation today with nothing worth reporting or riding at the moment.  A few potential bumps over at Seadrift but Channel not feeling it today.  Will update if conditions significantly improve.

PATCH: Small but rideable in the thigh high size.  S swell spitting out smooth waves outside by the bulkhead rock but long waits between sets as is the norm for S swells.   A few logs and SUPs on it and getting what there is to ride.

Daily Surf Report - 4/17/2013

Welcome to the happiest place on earth! Why am I saying this? Because today it feels almost like Disneyland here at the beach. (cue the song; "Zippedy Doo-Da, Zippedy-A")The sun is out and there isn't a cloud or care in the sky, the temperature is slipping in here at 55 degrees and there is even an off-shore breeze BUT the surf is real Mickey Mouse and Goofy! If you feel that you MUST surf anyway then bring the biggest, cartoony-est "Roger Rabbit Model" board you have and glide!

NOTE: LOT'S of road construction is being engaged in town for a while so please be mindful of this when navigating your petroleum based death machine around the vicinity. Thank you.

CHANNEL: Thigh high white-water rapids type surf today. Sure, there's a little "somethin', somethin'" over on the Sea Drift side of the middle bar but that lagoon is draining faster than the Greek economy! If the wind can stay down then perhaps later with the tide turn-around and with BIG boards this spot could pay some dividends. Three (3) sea monkey's on longboards fighting the good fight!

PATCH: Syrupy thigh high rollers that seem to have some difficulty breaking, though occasionally one will....sort of. The tide is receding, so the rocks are beginning to show their collective toothy grin. Maybe with the in-coming tide later in the day we will have something with a bit more pep to it that you won't need a sun dial to time. Five (5) wishful thinkers on logs as well as a janitor board keeping it clean out there by the Meeting Rock/Bulk Head/Rock.

Daily Surf Report - 4/16/2013

Good morning earth dwellers and welcome to another day at the beach. Sunny morning and not a cloud in the sky. The temperature is lolling in at around 49 degrees with a slight side wind puffing away like a high school junior in a '68 Camero before English class... oh, yeah and listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival, too. Big, HUGE board may work....may work.

NOTE: LOT'S of road construction is being engaged in town for a while so please be mindful of this when navigating your petroleum based death machine around the vicinity. Thank you.

CHANNEL:  Thigh high whatcha'-majiggies crumbling over an exposed sand bar affording those who wish to traverse this particular strata a short-and-to-the-point "Straight-off, Adolph" snooze cruise. Tide change later could change the entire perspective here. Four (4) snoozing away....Shhh.

PATCH:  Thigh high slow-pokes trying to make something of themselves other than liquid speed bumps. Green/Africa is throwing a bit out there in the thigh and less range. Rocks are beginning to appear but the tide change later may make this a nice log-ride later. David and Hank going for what they can at the moment.

Daily Surf Report - 4/15/2013

2-Mile Surf Shop will be CLOSED today.  We will re-open on Tuesday at 10am.  Come by then to see our newly painted and collaged dressing rooms!

Another beautiful day here in Bolinas, lots of sunshine, but not much swell. We have light wind, kinda side off/on-shore from the W to WSW direction, but still glimmering out there. Look for improving conditions throughout the day, saw some counts grooving on sliders out there yesterday, knee knocking and riding some oddball equipment, get your hair wet and stay stoked.

CHANNEL: There are about 6 surfers out making a go of the extremely low tide out there, very shallow and not much at the moment. Look for improvement on the incoming tide, there were some waves out there in the late afternoon/evening, but if you need to get wet, take that mamajamalog out there and you might slide a starfish.

PATCH: Nada, zilch, nothing...well, maybe a few urchin high crumblers way out there and scraping over the rocks. As of now, maybe check out the tide pools and wait for the slow moving tide to come in and maybe get a snag or two.

Daily Surf Rport - 4/14/2013

Did you see this person in the channel yesterday afternoon?

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 4/13/2013

Grab the ball bearings and slather on the 3 in 1 oil, check the Fetzer valve and head on out to the beach.  Another sunny Spring day in Bolinas with wispy clouds, WNW winds blowing offshore and a current temp of 53F.  High pressure is back and warm temps are expected through the weekend.  Not much happening surf wise at the moment.  Localized windswell with a small background S starting to fill in.  Bottomed out negative tide giving us lots of sand and exposed rocks, minimal water levels and small waves.

CHANNEL:  Fishermen enjoying the conditions from on shore and wading into the ocean.  Looks like a Diawa rod and reel combo is working best to haul in the day's catch.  No surfers in the water yet as tide is too low and needs to fill in.  There were small lefts at the Groin yesterday and  rights at Seadrift during the late morning into the evening and I expect the same today.  Currently shin burners and ankle crunchers abound.

PATCH:  Groomed up micro rollers of the double over barnacle variety.  Not too appealing at the moment but keep an eye out as this spot will get working as the water levels rise.  Lots of longboards in the parking lot and surfers suiting up.  No place to go but here right now.  Expect smallness but fun on the right board today.

Daily Surf Report - 4/12/2013

Beautiful Spring day with lots of sunshine today.  Light winds and temp clocks in at 49F.  Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, deer and lambs are frolicking on the green hillsides.  Laborers, busy as bees, digging a big open trench in the middle of Brighton Ave. as well.  Mind your speed and slow for the cone zone.  Only localized windswell in the water and on the horizon for now.  Alternative watercraft may be necessary to get waves.

CHANNEL:  1 surfer in the water.  Low tide bottomed out negatively and has started filling in.  Occasional left spinner at the Groin pole in the knee high size.  Long boards and good paddling skills will get you in.  Make the most of what you have and enjoy the water time.  Afternoon efforts were rewarded yesterday as the tide filled in and gave that little push.

PATCH:  1 SUPer in the water.   Very little peaks and rollers scattered here and there.  Nothing too exciting as most all the rocks are exposed at this time.  Let the tide come up a bit and pull out something long and with 1 fin and you will get waves later today.  Size runs knee high + at best right now.

Daily Surf Report - 4/11/2013

Sunny, breezy and mild at 52F.  Just windswell out there in the ocean but offshore winds help with the grooming.  Negative tide starting to fill in.  Looks like a bit of a waiting game until enough water improves conditions.  There are waves if you have a big board.  Nice beach day and perfect for beginners learning to surf.

CHANNEL:  3 in the water with mini rollers coming through outside of the Groin pole.  Not much water, lots of sand and small waves in one spot at the moment.  Super sunny and glistening weather conditions.  Bring sunscreen and the biggest board you have to get waves today.  Size goes knee to thigh high.  In-coming tide may change the complexion here for the better... if the wind doesn't ratchet up.

PATCH:  Scattered little peaks and rollers coming through here and there.  Translation = needs a bit more tide to start really breaking.  4 or 5 giving it the long check and waiting for the perfect moment to put suits on and logs to water.  Thigh high + and best midway and inside right now.  With the in-coming tide we may get a bit more push but there are a few more options here today.

Daily Surf Report - 4/10/2013

Aloha everyone and welcome to the middle of the week here at the beach. It's another beautiful sunny day, slightly breezier than yesterday with the temperature lolling in at a temperate 54 degrees (it got up to the low 80's yesterday and will do the same today). Surf has dwindled a bit more but that isn't stopping anyone from going in. Catch words for today are: HUGE boards & sun block.

CHANNEL:  Just under waist high (you need to be *this* tall for this ride) over the middle bar as right handed mini-emerald's of joy yawn un-ridden on the Sea Drift side. A log and you on the right side of the middle bar could do the trick. In-coming tide may change the complexion here for the better... if the wind doesn't ratchet up. There are about four (4) long boarders sitting far to the left of the bar in front of the Groin Pole doing absolutely nothing... hm.

PATCH:  Thigh high dribblers that meander along for the minimal amount of trim time only to turn into a "Straight-off, Adolph" snoozer then disappear altogether faster than your money in a Ponzi scheme. Lot's of texture chopping up the surface a bit as well. With the in-coming tide this spot will probably shut down until the tide reverses out. Hey, at least the rocks will be covered! Two (2) desperate souls on big boards making a go of it.

Daily Surf Report - 4/9/2013

Good morning all it's so good to be back! It's another wonderful day here at the beach as it's sunny with a mild temperature coming in at about 51 degrees. There is a bit of texture on the water's surface  but nothing to get your chones (pronounced: Cho-Nays) in a bunch about. The surf is a bit meager today but a huge board or an SUP may do the trick.

CHANNEL: Breaking at waist high (maximum) over the outside middle bar towards the Sea Drift side. Mostly section-y and as the tide is filling in more than Val Kilmer at an All-You-Can-Eat buffet table the recent swell is dissipating a bit as well but with the right gear (i.e. HUGE board) one may find a cornius on which to glide! Two (2) on longboards bellying up to the salad bar as I write this.

PATCH:  Ugh! Not a whole lot happening today at the good 'ol Clam Patch. It's grunting and groaning but not a heck of a lot coming through... especially now with this incoming tide. Perhaps later in the day with the tide turn-around. Maybe Elvis will show up and "Do The Clam" for us as well. I'll update later right here if such an occurrence does indeed happen. No one here 'cept clams.

Daily Surf Report - 4/8/2013

Sunny, clear, dry and beautiful morning.  Lots of overnite wind.  Look out for debris strewn roads as branches, tree limbs and leaves were spread around last night.  A bit chill at 49F but the wind is WNW and offshore so it is grooming up the ocean and making it nice and smooth.  It's Monday so the crowds are gone and the surf still remains rideable and fun.  Mostly longboards getting into the action today as you need a bit of glide to get going with the stiff winds.

CHANNEL: Still have small waves from the Groin pole over to seadrift.  Bars are not perfect so waves are sectioning a bit.  Occasionally one lines up with a face and shoulder to move on.  Size runs around waist high today.  Tide is filling in and could swamp it out.  Afternoon outgoing could be really fun.  Stay tuned for updates!

PATCH:  Peaks about in the Patch this morning with surf outside, midway and inside at the Snags.  Incoming tide keeping the rocks covered up and giving that extra push.  Smooth ocean surface and about 5 surfers in the water.  Lots of waves to ride and glide.  This is the spot today.  Size running waist + all over the area.

Daily Surf Report - 4/7/2013

MARTY!!!
It's a case of the Monday's weather wise again, but the swell is still holding pretty well.  Rain, drizzle, fog, it's all here as well your 50 best friends, already in the water.  Glassy like conditions despite the light SW winds onshore, so get it while you can.  Surf in both locations today, and some rides generating the 1.21 Gigawatts that make time travel possible.  All variety of boards and non-boards should be cruising out there today.  Save the clock tower.

CHANNEL: surf still grinding through from boat ramp to seadrift.  About 8 guys in the water on a mixed bag of equipment, and pieces and parts of waves are sectioning through here and there, with the occasional rewarding shoulder or section.  In about the waist + range, maybe a little bigger on the sets.  Should swamp out at the high tide and then as it turns be grinding on the low, with a strong current.  Get your plutonium together boys and girls, don't get stuck in 1955...

PATCH:  I must've hit my head on the toilet, flux capacitor visions all morning, and some cute little rollers finding their way to the reef at the Patch, with no one taking notice, except the 30 or so people already on it.  Fairly spread out though, and plenty of waves breaking in the waist high region to get your stoke on and generate a little lightning to get you back to 1985.

Daily Surf Report - 4/6/2013

1:00pm Update: Rain has stopped and sun is trying to break through.  Temp up to 60F and winds are very light.  Swell numbers stay up and surf conditions vary.

Morning overcast, with light rain and variable S winds.  Leave the sunscreen home and bring a poncho.  Swell is here with good numbers but not translating to great surf so far.  Lumpy and chunky WNW swell with a touch of S mixed in for good measure.  Lots of water moving around today but conditions are not EPIC.  The marauding horde should thin out soon once reality sets in - the surf is just OK.  Currently 53F with sunshine predicted for later today and through the weekend.  Lots of flotsam and jetsam in the water today with the extra energy so keep an eye out for debris such as logs.

CHANNEL: Pieces here and there with a few waves that hold up and are decently rideable.  Size does go waist to chest high but it is consistently inconsistent.  Sets close out as do most waves.  There are some that you can pick of and get long rides on but the peaks are scattered today.  All types of boards will work and all types of boards are in the water.  Swell should hold through the day and into Sunday and surf conditions may need some time to improve.  Not the worst day to get wet but be patient and wait for the clean ones to come.

PATCH:   Surf all over today with good amount of push.  Smoother here than at the Channel and size is waist high +.  Lots of longboards and a few SUPs outside and midway.  Somewhat shortboardable on the inside with smooth dumpers to pull into and ride to the beach.  Tide is still coming in so all rocks are covered.  Crowded here but you can get waves.

Daily Surf Report - 4/5/2013

Morning fog, overcast, light drizzle and general moisture.  No winds today and ocean is smoothing out.  Temp coming in at 55F right now.  Low vis conditions due to fog on the water but there are waves and surfers are on it.  Good little swell conditions filling in on the buoys today and into the weekend.  Use the Jedi mind trick and put a suit on and paddle out.  Free shower van in the lot but no sign of porti shower yet.

CHANNEL: Hard to see but did make out a few waves rolling through at the Groin.  Channel is unknown due to fog.  A few in the water and a few walking down.  There are waves - you can hear them breaking.  Once you are in the water you can surf them as well.  Generally smoothed out ocean after 1 day of rain.  Guessing size to be waist high and will update after the morning crowd rolls through to tell their morning tales.

PATCH:   Inside surf at the Snags is visible, outside surf is not.  Trust the force and paddle out or you'll be the only one missing it.  Good group in the water and more heading over.  One SUP rider reported waist high + if you can trust a SUPer.  Grab a log and go find yourself a mysto wave to ride.

Daily Surf Report - 4/4/2013

Rain and stiff S winds.  Victory at sea conditions.  Surf is buzz-killed for the day.  Rain only expected for 1 day then back to sunshine for the weekend.  New long period swell is on the horizon starting Friday evening so stay tuned for better conditions in the near future.  If you plan on carrying a board down to the beach hold on tight so you don't get taken for a ride.  No sign of the free shower van today but not too many will be at the beach either.

CHANNEL: Sloppy mess with whitecaps all over.  Hasn't been much here lately but the weather and wind are taking their toll today.  Pieces and parts that don't have shape and are not rideable.  Size in the waist high range but not clean at all.

PATCH:   More whitecaps and messy conditions here as well.  Winds onshore and causing no waves today.  Empty lineup and no lookie-loos either.

Daily Surf Report - 4/3/2013

Full sunshine and mild at 56F.   A bit of NW windswell + small bit of S showing on the buoys this morning.  Not much out there yet but a few rollers to ride can be found.  Looks like a porti-shower has been set up in the lot for an after surf rinse.  Great day for beginners and amateurs to learn to surf!

CHANNEL: Tide heading low and causing quite a rip in the Channel today.  Churned up water and lots of sand in the surf zone.  May be a bit more over at Seadrift but this spot needs more favorable tides to get working again.  What waves come through look knee to thigh in size but shape is marginal at best.  Seek surf elsewhere until the afternoon tide fills in.

PATCH:   Mini rollers about midway and through the Snags this morning.  Clean, glassy and breaking right along to the inside.  Size is only about thigh high but there is enough to get a longboard or SUP going and there are a few out there now.  Bottoming tide will expose the rocks so watch out and have fun.
