Daily Surf Report - 2/2/2012

Groundhog Day 2012:
Punxsutawney Phil sees shadow, 6 more weeks of winter predicted.
At 7:25 a.m. this morning, amidst mostly cloudy skies, and temperatures in the low 30s, Groundhog Phil saw his shadow in the little town of Punxsutawney, Pa.

According to folklore, Phil’s sighting of his own shadow means there will be six more weeks of winter. Had Phil not seen his shadow, it would have meant “there will be an early spring.”

We have clear and sunny skies with temps in the low 40s to start the day. Our winter has been clear and dry and the surf has been very good so I can live with Phil's prediction.

Channel: Cleaned up from yesterday's bit of weather. Surf in the waist high + size. Seadrift looks a little cleaner and better if you want to paddle across and get some rights. About 8 in the water.

Patch: Good tide and has come up in size. Thigh to waist high pop up peaks that look best mid-way and inside. Couple of longboards and SUPs over here already.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Tides:
High: 6:40 am 5.6'
Low: 2:06 pm 0.5'
High: 9:27 pm 4.1'
