Daily Surf Report - 4/20/2012

Sunny and warm afternoon - 74F with persistent little waves.

Paddle out into the foggy unknown and you never know what you will find. Bring the correct equipment and you will always be prepared for whatever the ocean is offering. Single fin logs work best in the Patch as the wave tends to be soft and grind along. Glide and trim on your biggest board. High-performance longboards, eggs and fish will work in the Channel when conditions are right. A bit more energy can be found on this wave at times.

Fading swell energy and low tide to start the day. Overcast burning off and sun starting to show. Winds are nil and temp is now 52 degrees and nice. Expected hot this weekend.

Channel: Small waves in the thigh high range today. Incoming tide could help but not so clean or organized yet. Still some surfers in the water catching waves and enjoying the morning.

Patch: Found some friends in the Patch after a blind, foggy paddle out. Jaime, Mary, Scott, DB, Russ and Frank on logs and SUPs. Scattered wave peaks knee to thigh high. The good ones peeled along to the inside. Good to be in the water with friends and catch up on all the goings on. Saw a cloud rainbow with jumping unicorn to top it all off.

Check out the article on local Marin artist and Bolinas Patch ripper Mary Wagstaff who is featured in this month's Oprah magazine. Available at any bookstore or supermarket, the article is about not letting age hold you back from anything. Maybe the stories will inspire you to take a chance and do something you always wanted to. The full article is also online and can be seen here: http://www.oprah.com/spirit/How-to-Change-Your-Life-Pursue-Your-Dreams/5

Mary is holding and riding a board shaped by our very own, in-house shaper, John Moore and Mystic Surfboards. John lived in Bolinas for many years and still shapes for the shop. He knows the waves here and can customize a board to fit your needs. Stop by the shop for more details or to talk boards in general.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.
