Daily Surf Report - 4/30/2011

Phil Collins day in the shop. All Phil Collins all the time!

Sunny Saturday morning with moderate offshore winds. Current temp 57F with warming trend predicted and temps in the low to mid 70s. Small surf, offshore winds helping a bit and a beautiful day at the beach. Cold water due to spring winds and deep water upwelling. Bring booties and gloves!

Channel: Again we have rights and lefts in the Channel in the thigh to waist high size. Some zippy little waves that hold up on the inside. Lots of longboarders out enjoying the surf and sun.

Patch: Breaking close to the beach and relatively flat so far. Bring your SUP or kayak and go for a paddle.

NEWS: Mini Simmons Surfboards -
Next batch of Mini Simmons are here. We have 5.8, 5.10 with suspension and 6.0. Boards are dope-sauce awesome! Get on one if you want to fly! We have a demo/rental model in the shop so you can give it a try.

With the return of retro and classic surfboards, many surfers love the feel of riding a Mini Simmons board. Based on the early designs of Bob Simmons, who was light years ahead of his peers, the boards were considered revolutionary at the time. They have enjoyed resurgence in the last few years with a massive decrease in their length, and a modernization of their features. The best way to describe these boards is short and wide. The board is a revelation to ride. They are loose, oh so skatey and the fastest board you’ll feel under your feet - period.
Designed so that even the heaviest of riders can go small in size, these boards are ridden ridiculously small, rarely getting over the 6’0” mark. An awesome alternative to the swallow-tail fish which can tend to be tippy and doesn’t handle bigger surf well.

We have new locally shaped SK8 Hand Planes in the shop made from recycled skateboards. Pair it with a set of Churchill fins and you will always have a smile on your face after your session. Each plane is unique and has individual signed artwork. Come by the shop and check them out. Makes a great gift for the surfer in the family.

Awesome board bags from Deeper Visions are flying out the door. Hand-made by a local Bolinas artist. A perfect way to store your board and all are one of a kind. Check out our current selection or ask about a custom order.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Closing at 3:00 pm.

Next batch of Mini Simmons boards set to arrive in the shop on 3/21/2011! Come by and be one of the first to get your hands on the boards.

Each plane is unique and has individual signed artwork. Come by the shop and check them out. Makes a great gift for the surfer in the family.

They are loose, oh so skatey and the fastest board you’ll feel under your feet -period.

Daily Surf Report - 4/2/2011

Let me preface this report with a reminder that it is a Saturday, one of the first with decent swell and weather in awhile so REMEMBER: Be courteous, share the waves, and check your ego at the boat ramp. It will be crowded but with the right attitude it has the makings to be a super fun day in Bo.

That said, it is currently in the mid 50s but we should see a high in the 70s today. Overcast skies should turn partly cloudy this afternoon and we have a light NE wind that may pick up a bit.

Channel/Groin: Rideable surf in the waist to chest high range. Consistent/Crowded.

Boat Ramp: Sets breaking waist high, closing out right now but may improve with the changing tide.

Patch: The best I have seen the patch in several weeks. Breaking far out and closer to the beach in the knee to hip high range. Lots to choose from and looks really fun. Bring a longboard, you can also avoid the crowd in the channel over here!

April Fools Day but this is not a joke.
Finally a day we have been waiting for. Sunny, warm and windless morning in Bolinas! Current temp is 58F with record temps expected through the weekend. Beautiful beach day and a good N swell in the water with a background S as well. Definitely a surf day. Not all time but possibly worth calling in sick or quitting your job.

Channel: Rideable surf in the waist to chest high range. Bars still cleaning up but rideable on a short board inside and longer board at the outsided Channel bar.today.

Patch/Groin: Fun smooth waves in the waist high to chest high size on the better ones. Scattered and somewhat intermittent but long and smooth when they come. Lots of longboards and SUPs catching them outside past the rock and midway as well. Sunny and smooth with lots of different peaks.
