Daily Surf Report - 4/3/2011

Sunny skies with a light off-shore wind dropping the morning air temp to 49F. Still looks to be a beautiful beach day with temps reaching the low 70s. Still have some decent buoy readings and there are waves in town today.

Channel/Groin: Again we have rideable surf in the waist to chest high range. Spread out from Seadrift to the inside Groin bar. Not as consistent or crowded as yesterday but could get busy later as tide fills in.

Patch: Scattered peaks out past the rock. If you are in the right spot at the right time and choose well there are waves to be ridden that are relatively smooth and fun. Averaging waist high + . A little texture on he water with the wind but the inside seems smooth and also is breaking in the thigh high range. Bring your longest board to have the most fun.

NEWS: Mini Simmons Surfboards -
New batch of Mini Simmons boards are in the shop! Come by and be one of the first to get your hands on the boards. Get on one if you want to fly!

With the return of retro and classic surfboards, many surfers love the feel of riding a Mini Simmons board. Based on the early designs of Bob Simmons, who was light years ahead of his peers, the boards were considered revolutionary at the time. They have enjoyed resurgence in the last few years with a massive decrease in their length, and a modernization of their features. The best way to describe these boards is short and wide. The board is a revelation to ride. They are loose, oh so skatey and the fastest board you’ll feel under your feet -period.
Designed so that even the heaviest of riders can go small in size, these boards are ridden ridiculously small, rarely getting over the 6’0” mark. An awesome alternative to the swallow-tail fish which can tend to be tippy and doesn’t handle bigger surf well.

We have new locally shaped SK8 Hand Planes in the shop made from recycled skateboards. Pair it with a set of Churchill fins and you will always have a smile on your face after your session. Each plane is unique and has individual signed artwork. Come by the shop and check them out. Makes a great gift for the surfer in the family.

Awesome board bags from Deeper Visions are flying out the door. Hand-made by a local Bolinas artist. A perfect way to store your board and all are one of a kind. Check out our current selection or ask about a custom order.

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.
