Daily Surf Report - 4/29/2010

There is still a small S/W swell in the water with scattered waves in the thigh high to almost waist high size. Off-shore winds are helping to hold up the waves a little and there are some shortboarders on the inside of the Groin with all others on longboards at the Boat Ramp or Patch. It is a nice but cool day with a little bit of surf to ride.

Good morning. Happy full moon. We have passing rain showers this morning with sun in between. Temperatures are in the low 50's. There's an sideshore breeze, gusty at times--10-15 mph. I will be taking a long lunch today if I'm not busy, so it is a good idea to call first, thanks!

Small long period swell from southwest. Patch was glassy and knee to thigh high this morning with the lower tide. Some sets were waist high. The channel was smaller, as the tide fills in we're seeing the surf getting a bit smaller. Bring that longboard!

There are waves at the Groin and Channel today in the 2-3 FT high range. Across the way at Seadrift there is a small right and left that is breaking today. Still looks like a longboard will work best as the wave is soft but smooth and rideable. A fish or shortboard can work on the inside Channel. Not much breaking at the patch at this time. I'll update later if conditions change.

Surf: A small long period swell from the W/NW--another longboard day. The patch looks a bit larger with 2-3' average waves and a few sets at waist high. The channel looked similar, but it's breaking really close to shore and it seemed to be closing out a bit. It is very choppy out there too.

Every once in a while it coughs up a nice set of waves with more push to keep you stoked. Surf at the Channel is knee high with the low tide. There are waves at Seadrift in the waist high range and there are surfers out. Bring the longboard for best results.

Surf at the Patch is in the thigh to waist high range and there is a group of longboarders catching smooth waves there this morning. The Channel is about knee high with the low tide but there are 2 surfers giving it a go there on the waves.

Surf: There's a small swell from the south/southwest. The channel is averaging a couple of feet, but this morning everyone was surfing the patch. Out there we are seeing knee to waist high average sets...perfect longboarding day. Although it is becoming a bit choppy with that wind.

Happy Tuesday! It's a much nicer day today with mostly sunny skies. The wind is pretty light right now and it's sideshore.
Surf: There's a small swell from the south. The channel is knee high and the patch is around knee high as well with a few sets at waist high. Everyone is surfing the patch this morning and they've all brought their longboards. A great beginner day, not too much texture on the water today.

Happy Monday! The rain seems to have passed on, and this afternoon we did see the sun. We are still having onshore winds.
Surf: There's a small wind swell. The channel may be around waist to shoulder high, it's messy. The patch is the same. It is unorganized, and breaking close to shore...great boogie boarding day.

Good Morning everyone. This morning we have completely stormy conditions.
Strong onshore winds, rain, and blown out surf.
Currently no one in the water.
Surf is breaking in the waist to chest high range all over the place.
I'll update if conditions improve...
Update: Still stormy and raining although the wind has died down a bit.
Still pretty sloppy though. We are closing due to the weather. 1:30 pm

Daily Surf Report - 4/10/2010
Overcast and drizzly. On-shore winds but they have died down a little as the light rain has begun.
What little surf is showing is in the knee to thigh high range. The best potential is currently at the Patch. Bring a longboard or something that paddles well through the light chop on the surface. No real signs this morning of the long period south that is showing on the buoys.

Daily Surf Report - 4/9/2010
Beautiful sunny and windless morning. Great beach day with a little bit of surf as well.
Surf is again in the thigh high range with waist high waves on the better ones. There is surf in the Channel with mostly rights and the occasional left. You can ride a fish or longboard. The waves are small but smooth. Surf at the Patch looks to be about thigh high as well and there are 2 longboarders out catching waves there as well.

You can ride a fish or longboard and the waves are small but smooth with rights breaking in the Channel. Surf at the Patch looks to be about thigh high as well and there are longboarders out catching waves there as well.

Happy Monday! Blue skies between passing rain showers. (Actually it is now raining at 10:15 am.) Light offshore to no wind.
Surf:
There's a small NW swell out there at 3 feet plus right now in the channel/out front. Great longboard or beginner day. The surf is glassy and as the tide fills in it will probably get a bit larger. The patch will get better at high tide. I'll update this blog as the conditions change today.

I wish we had nicer weather to report this morning but unfortunately it's a cold windy morning. The windy is blowing stiffly out of the S SW, blowing out the little bit of swell (knee-high) that is in the water. There is currently no one surfing.
It doesn't look ride-able at any of the spots.
I'll hope conditions change for the better and report if they do.

Surf is in the knee to waist to chest range with waves at the Boat Ramp, Channel and the Patch. Surf is fun and rampy with lots of little workable sections. Surf conditions are smooth and a longboard, shortboard or bigger fish will work.

5pm Update - Rain has stopped. Sun is starting to peek through and the wind has turned off-shore. Bodes well for the weekend if the weather holds.
