Daily Surf Report - 4/21/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

With the haze of yesterday gone one can begin to focus on important matters at hand.  Our spirits are lifted by the westerly swell fusion that delves to deliver stoke in both localities.  Light E winds for grooming purposes and clear skies filled with sun and prophecies.  Temps start at 44F and will warm gradually to a moderate level.  High tide peaking but not stopping the seeking for those on the hunt for slides.

CHANNEL: A level headed approach will yield rewards today with some waves being cleaner than others.  All will provide adequate propulsion and the sandbars seem split on which direction it prefers.  Wave heights ranging from thigh to waist + as the tide tops out and ebbs.  Full of reflective energy from above and kinetic energy below.

PATCH:
It's hypnotizing
It sends me to sleep
No one talks to anyone else
It's frightening
Everybody's minds are blank
Oh - oh hypnotizing

Daily Surf Report - 4/20/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." - Albert Einstein

Deeper meanings reveal themselves in the early sunlight that warms a steaming earth.  Peaking, building and fading swells all coalesce today to offer options in varying degrees.  The sun is winning the weather battle waged last night and the morning temp of 53F is readily rising.  No winds currently and an expanding lineup as the hours pass.

CHANNEL: One single solitary surfer seeking serenity surrenders to the source and desiring slides upon a higher tide.  Limited by water levels yet yielding periodically with waves and warbles that appear and retreat almost simultaneously.

PATCH: A bit too much early water.  A few too many population but here is where the main draw lives.  Silky traces on outside faces and a touch of S swell getting the summer vibe feeling flowing.  Marching up towards waist high and a conglomeration of water craft taking part in the offerings.

Daily Surf Report - 4/19/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor." ~ Elon Musk

A nice breeze carrying the salt air greets me this morning as I walk towards the beach promising for a new day. The sun is coming through, warming the air while the wind stays at bay; spring has come it seems. Little SW / NW swell combinations bring hope to us all that today will be the day, the sun stays to play.

CHANNEL: Not yet but it seems to hold a whisper of a promise that the waves will come. Let us hope the wind stays away, the clouds drift on and that this area produces some goodies.

PATCH: Long, lean, and not very mean waves are beginning to be brought into view as a handful of surfers enter the water. All equipped with longboards as the morning waves call for it, these guys and girls are in it for good time with our dearest friend.

Daily Surf Report - 4/18/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell

Unlike most whom roam this Earth, I have chosen to stick with the childish joy of adventuring in the rain and it seems to me that I am not alone for I am greeted with the sight of fellow surfers this morning - rain or shine we will be there. No wind, light rain, 57F temp, and a small mix of SW swell / fading NW swell...yes, no, maybe so ? A restless feel fills the ocean this morning but it leaves the question - is it just beginning to boil, or is it simmering down? I suggest you walk those steps to the beach, climb the stairs with the rusted rails and take a peak yourself. Enjoy the serenity, the sights and smells; take what you can get.

CHANNEL: The ocean lost some weight throughout the early morning with promises of a continual decrease - the channel feels it as the water clears and the surf disappears.

PATCH:  Surfers near and far this morning but, as in life, it seems that those who worked the hardest are getting the best waves. Go the extra mile before the strength of the waves peter-out; push yourself and you may find that the hard work pays off.

Daily Surf Report - 4/17/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"As long as there is coffee in the world, how bad can things be?" - Cassandra Clare

Post egg hunt wave search likely yielding better results as we still have NW + SW swell mixtures and no winds or rain at present.  Wet, overcast, grey and dreamy with air temps matching water at 54FNot a day for basking in the sun but certainly a day worth looking at the option of some slides and stoke.

CHANNEL: Undefined and unrefined with limited options for long rides but enough bump and roll to lure a pack of 8 into the sea.  Shifted more along towards the boat ramp with aspects and objects weilding watery washings to those venturing to gainStill sloppy but not stormy and generally smoothing in the lack of wind.  Thigh high + or better with overall shape being poor.

PATCH:  A scattering and smattering of peaks and population with SUPs and loggers co-mingling easily.  Low tide approaching and starting to both reveal rocks and push waves out farther.  Enough to pique interest and potential unlimited.

Daily Surf Report - 4/16/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life." - Janine di Giovanni

Happy Easter to all! The wind is blowing and the day is gray. Thick clouds cover the sky keeping dark in and the sun out. Rain begins to fall and the forecast is keeping the masses indoors. Cold and windy, current temperature being 54F and not seeming to rise. Take today to be with family, give thanks, stay indoors. Today is not a beach day.

CHANNEL: Choppy and sloppy as the storm begins, No sign of life here but what lives below is still a mystery.

PATCH:  No better than the channel, possibly worse in fact as the tide drops and water crashes onto rock.

Daily Surf Report - 4/15/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese." - Steven Wright

Mixed skies bring mixed messages as we ease into spring time living. The sun shines brightly through pockets while the morning temps dip and hold.  A glorious day to get out and turn your face skyward as soon we shall have more rain to contend with.  Preparations are in effect for the great rabbit's visit and the hunt is on for waves and eggs alike.  Both swells deplete themselves and a rogue low tide tests one's will to persevere.  44F now and will warm into the 60s.  No winds for now and the skies are partially blue.  Gilbert, rise and shine!

CHANNEL: Wide vastness of exposed sand with our early morning low tide sucking dry.  A time for beach combers to find treasure and lovers to take long walks.  Not nearly enough water to fathom a rideable wave as one must wait the long wait until early afternoon to attempt a slide or three.  Shore lappers only.

PATCH:  A lessening in quantity and quality as swells fade and waters retreat.  Exposure of rocks at an all time high with an opposite effect upon the waves.  Knee knockers and calf rockers for your Saturday morning enjoyment.  The sun is out in all its glory and there are participants in the sport of kings making worthy efforts with borderline success.
