Daily Surf Report - 3/22/2017

We are closed every Wednesday in the month of March

We will re-open on Thursday at 10:00 AM

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Jump, and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall." - Ray Bradbury

With zero rhyme or reason it seems that there is a stormy, choppy, and rugged day ahead of us. The break in the clouds and the 58F temperature leaves some hope but the wind, the storm and the tide seem to think otherwise. There's not a soul in sight but for the wet dog and his family but it seems even they too cannot match what the ocean has to offer today, as they retreat back to the comfort of their van. Although there seems to be a SW windswell, don't expect today to be smooth sailingthere is hope, but it may just be the same hope that came down with a crash on that one dispiriting night Tuesday, November 8th 2016.

CHANNEL:
Picture this: there's a storm out in the ocean, there's no one else around you but there, in the distance is a lone pole with nothing surrounding it. That is what you may find here early this morning.

PATCH:  Finally, back to the good old days where Bolinas locals have the patch to themselves....but even the lack of tourists on a Spring Break day doesn't seem enough to get them out there. Rugged, rampant, and ruthless

"There's a storm coming...you and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all going to wonder how you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us." - Selena Kyle

Daily Surf Report - 3/20/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit." - Napoleon Hill

The Vernal Equinox is upon us and so the first real day of spring.  We are greeted and somewhat defeated by moderate NW winds determined to harsh the vibe and play the fool.  Intrepid car campers and damp beach sleepers rise as one to assess the scene and find a corner of stoke to start their season on a good note.  Temps flutter and hold at 56F and leftover swell and wind-bowls are the only charity.

CHANNEL:
High tide dropping but winds aren't stopping in a knock down drag out wage against smoothness.  Tormented and textured peaks drawing hard stares from breakers and takers as opportunity may have already knocked and moved on.

PATCH:  Somewhat wind shaded but also less swell effected and therefore an option to consider.  Under knee high engagements are offered.  The tide is right and the time is now.

Daily Surf Report - 3/19/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It is impossible for people to learn what they think they already know." - Epictetus

New NW energy arrived as a late guest in the night but we see little morning evidence as it currently takes shelter and sleeps in.  Tepid temps of 55F and very light NE winds have us primed for more but realizing less.  Overcast skies with pockets of sun may remain but rains hold off for now.  Smooth ocean surfaces barely disturbed with infrequent undulations.

CHANNEL:
Periodic bursts of whitewater washings over reformed sandbars that want additional energy.  Knee high crumblers are the norm with deeper Channel offerings for those really willing to wait.  But, you never can tell.

PATCH:  Minuscule movements of a right directional wave are detected and deflected by the longest of long logs.  Pull out the long plank and settle in my friends.   A good option today if you have no particular place to go.

Daily Surf Report - 3/18/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things." - Albert Einstein

An evening of raucous revelry yields to a new morning of enLITEnment and those seeking serenity will find it in ample supply.  Overcast above and 50F.  Cooperative and slack winds yet faded swells on all fronts.  Mini micro waves of beauty and small stature are yours for the watching or riding this fine spring morning.

CHANNEL:
Dave's not here man and neither is much in terms of waves so far.  The ultra occasional rolling bump with aspirations of breaking has been spotted though not ridden in the Channel proper.  Dropping morning tide will curtail the situation.

PATCH:
Flaccid waves converge
On a rock hard strip of concrete
Near a field of green

Daily Surf Report - 3/17/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes." - Oscar Wilde

Early luck with much improved weather as the sun shines brightly down upon us all equally.  Chilled out early at 43F with light E winds to suggest a coming warmth.  NW swells are in retrograde though a new moderate S looks to make an appearance today.   Your pot of gold is out there at the end of some rainbow.

CHANNEL:
Heading toward the day's low tide and lessened rides.  A steadfast duo already making their exit after a few glides of joy.  Not quite flat - one level above.  Calf-ankle high?

PATCH: Efforting to expand with newly materialized S swell energies.  Knee high plus possibly as far reaching as one's thigh.  Beautiful in a multitude of aspects and a few slides only adds to the bounty.

Daily Surf Report - 3/16/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Human judges can show mercy. But against the laws of nature, there is no appeal." -Arthur C. Clarke

Gloomy skies comes as a bit of a surprise, for we are reminded by the weather that summer is not yet upon us. A breeze prevails and the temperature sits still at 58F but the moist air tells us differently. Tides averaging out today with nothing too extreme. Looking like a calm, slow day here in Bo town.

CHANNEL:
How do you spell flat?

PATCH: Come here, come all, as it is your only choice. Rocks beginning to hide themselves as the morning low begins to rise. Knee high. What's new?
