Daily Surf Report - 6/14/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.” - Jack Kerouac

Happy Sunday to all! Slow morning here in our little town but smiling faces are everywhere. Speaking of slow, if you plan on heading out here any time soon take it slow - a bad accident has the road backed up a ways so be cautious. Other than that today is looking like a good day to come and relax. A bit gloomy as the fog still hovers but we are praying for surf and sunshine. Hold your crystals and loved ones close today.

CHANNEL:  Slow is the word of the day. Ankle high rollers tumbling in every once in a while. Low tide is not helping us out today.  Cherished memories of what once was are all we have to keep us company today.

PATCH: Flatter than the channel. Not a shape in sight.  Perfectly pancaked and not nearly as tasty.  Breakfast will be served but not in this locale today.

Important Note from the Bolinas Fishing Community:
When heading out the Channel,  the fishing boats have a very narrow slot to navigate and the fishermen have to "thread the needle" to avoid having their boats dumped by waves. The boats don't have the ability or opportunity to veer away from oncoming waves and must take them straight on. Surfers - please practice Ocean Courtesy when boats are heading in and out of the Channel and paddle out of the boat's path to let them through. This will also help in avoiding being run over by a boat at speed.

Daily Surf Report - 6/13/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
“I have wined and dined with kings and queens and I’ve slept in alleys and dined on pork and beans.” - Dusty Rhodes RIP

A pensive calm permeates the atmosphere as summer slowly kicks into gear.  Bounding bunnies and sly foxes rule the early morn and find serenity amongst the birds' sweet songs.  A warming sun has already appeared and seems ready to dispense the vitamin D.  A touch of S wind has textured the ocean surface but temps are currently 59F and on the rise.  Only trace elements of swells past remain leaving us with an unruly mix of windswells upon which to make our sliding attempts reality.  As tide pushes in our hopes are buoyed as desire currently outweighs determination.  Make of the day what you will but always keep a smile on your face.

CHANNEL:  Elementally low tide just now showing the ability to form waves.  A conglomeration of NW windswell has signaled a start to the morning flow of joyous surfers heading this direction with visions of perfection.  That shall not be found today but the sandbars are primed and what does roll over has shape if not velocity.  Knee high or better outside lefts have the ability to morph and mold their shape and materialize into inside rights.  Find the key.  Unlock the secret.  Hold it sacred and ride with purpose.

PATCH:  A touch of texture can be seen and felt yet still giving forth a ride or two to those wishing to do-si-do right.  Just enough water has returned to keep trolling rocks mostly at bay and allow for inside rollers to peak and pop along with thigh high aspirations.  A salty few giving it the evil eye while synapses pop and decisions are formulated.  Go with your gut and go with style and grace today.

Daily Surf Report - 6/12/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
“Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.” - Lao Tzu

A flowing mix of sun and swirling fog.  Pervasive in its ability to shape shift and mood change.  Settling in at the coast brings a thick cover disguising the glassy surfaces and undulations just out of one's vision range.  A full lot and empty racks signal a variation of the positive force.  An unknown brew of NW windswell + fading S remnants has different spots on the alert for slides today.   Temp a perpetual 57F with sunshine vibes just out of range.  Look for that which fulfills you inside and you just may find it today.

CHANNEL:  Flowing robes and tide pushing over renewed sandbars has rubber clad figurines bobbing about.  Shrouded in mist and a collective calm the morning stalwarts seek lefts of smooth approximation and lingering rides towards shore.  Inside of the Groin pole Mali-Bo begins to rise and shine and will allow for slides to the right and holding shape as well.  Size remains mysterious yet above thigh in most respects.  Realize your full potential today although don't expect anyone to acknowledge it.

PATCH:  A pushing and rising tide deploys yet another day of rideable surf here in the Northern reaches.  Inside rights may be formulated to resist rocks and roll along at nearly waist high.  Figures emerge from the mist to bob and weave with admiring glances from all sea creatures in attendance.  All is unknown today but can be revealed if only by venturing forth with determination and grit.

Daily Surf Report - 6/11/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society.” - Theodore Roosevelt

A menacing mist hovers, lurks and leaps at every turn as we begin another day of Northern CA summer.  Bellowing roars are emitted from the foliage but not from the winds which remain calm, peaceful and slack.  Temp slinks in the back door at 57F and should hold steady and mild with sunshine an unselected option today.  What little SW swell energy remains is fading and requires the incoming tide push which will shortly reach its apex.  Still a stoked and frothy crew out to charge the early morning offerings which although height challenged still delivers slideable sled rides for your surfing enjoyment.

CHANNEL:  Incoming morning tide has things off to a meandering start as water levels slowly rise to middling levels.  The Mali-Bo bar is returning to form and seems to be shaping up as more water pushes over the top.  Workable rights that may only hit thigh high can be molded and modified to suit your needs.  Small boards can run but not hide from shallow inside conditions that make exits as fun as entrances.  Lacking in overall energy yet shaped by wind and sand - the rights just beyond the Groin pole have suitable potential and enough positivity to make suiting up a goal today.

PATCH:  Last gasps and filling tide have the weathered and wise holding court deep in the Patch depths.  The waiting game must be played and the rewards are always what you make of them.  Peeling poppers that are slopey and stalwart hit just above the thigh and yet below the waist in height. Now is the time as water levels will soon diminish and take with it the required means to make this spot pleasant and palatable.

Daily Surf Report - 6/10/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
Poetry is a controlled refinement of sobbing." - Nicholson Baker

A rare and steady rain pulsates from the sky, and has many with quizzical looks gazing towards the heavens. Though not expected to continue the length of the day, it will certainly be the paradigm on which the morning operates, as the mercury will rise only marginally from it's current 61 degrees. Not to worry, however, as the AM crew is out in force and is currently a flurry of board bags, various states of undress, and many a lowered tailgate. They are chasing the remnants of the SSW that is providing fun, if not epic, amounts of stoke this morning. Find yourself amongst them, or don't.

CHANNEL:  Rumors and scuttlebutt of the return of the Mali-Bo bar may be closer to reality than one might surmise, as a dynamic duo who are making the most can attest this fine day. Just outside of the marker are shapes that bring thoughts of potential, if they currently lack a bit of energy behind them. As per usual, tide levels will dictate what stoke will be found here throughout the day, so be mindful. It should not surprise the keen observer to spot many forms of watercraft in this area as day grows long.

PATCH:  Oh, the many paddles seeking purchase mix with a determined dozen of logs as they pursue the same solid rollers this morn. Holding and peeling with smiles for yards, if not miles. Height is not a factor, they currently reside in a standard issue thigh-waist range, but that is a known commodity. The luncheon low will take with it most of the punch on display currently, but pre and post should keep one's chi flowing and slides going. Keep an eye out for special guests in the afternoon hours, or feel their wrath. Your choice.

Daily Surf Report - 6/9/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
An unlocked door mean that, occasionally, you might get a devil come in, but a locked door means you have thousands of angels just walk by." - Ian MacKaye

Yet another morning that brings a nettled mist and fog just off the deck. It is the kind of morning that begs one to stay in bed and find a stillness, and yet many seafarers have other intentions. Though temps will hover only around their current mark of 58F, parking is already nil, and the neoprene-clad warriors are striding into the murk at all measures. The tide is key this day, so temper your expectations, heed the time, and remember that you exist, though that is the only quarter given.

CHANNEL:  A lone log bobs and weaves among the tumult, it is only with great patience that slides are being taken from the bounty. Though quiet offerings are being observed, shapes of note are largely absent, and it is only those seeking penance and redemption who find solace here.

PATCH:   This is where the tribe is called and is gathered this day, as traffic into, and out of the waters is thick and fierce. Solid outside rights are being enjoyed and smiles are visible, even on the most surly mugs. There are inside offerings as well, though they will require a detailed eye to find and savor. The waters are already beginning to recede, so find your time and get in line, and remember, there are no judges noting score. What is possible is what is done. That is all there is.

Daily Surf Report - 6/8/2015

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
In memory, everything seems to happen to music." - Tennessee Williams

An intense and eerie mix patch of dense fog and bright, blinding rays of light as we gaze seaward just past dawn.  This should pass, as all the makings for a beautiful summer day are in the blender and are being prepared. Take heed if you attempt slides in the early hours, as one can easily miss the slider mere feet from you, as visibility is currently that low. The tide will be soon as well, making current conditions, and those much later in the day what you seek to feed your needs.

CHANNEL:  An inside left is currently providing stoke to a single mariner this morn, although the quality of this ride leaves something to be desired, as closeout, last call vibes seem to be the dominant paradigm upon closer inspection. The vectors directly out from the ramp show empty shapes oddly free of logs and log-jammers, but water levels answer those queries quickly enough. Space is the place, just not this particular space.

PATCH:   A patchwork of the usual suspects is relying on instinct and muscle memory to attempt rides and slides currently, as sight cannot be trusted. Those voices one is hearing are not yelps of stoke and success, but are being used to alert others of one's whereabouts, and/or the location of exposed rock. A solid inside shape is being enjoyed, but timing is key, and keen wits are a strict requirement. Enjoy it now, or wait on late-day sun vibes for an experience of a very different sort.
