Daily Surf Report - 8/17/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." - Mark Twain

For many, today is the last day of summer as school starts anew and all vacations come to a close. And for many this is the beginning of a new chapter in life. But it has not all ended quite yet as the ocean greets us this morning with k-k-kombo-ing swells and and glassy conditions. It's as if she wants the summer to end with a bang. Air temps are in the low 60s and bound to heat up later today as winds are light, the water is warm, and waves are breaking in the playful knee to waist range all around. Perfect day for any size log and possibly some shorter boards if you're a grom. The tide is a bit high as of now- hitting the seawall- but waves should be breaking throughout the day as the tide stays at moderate levels. Bring your friends and family, sunscreen, and stoke for today.

CHANNEL:   The tide is going out slowly this morning as it is still a tad too high. Waves are breaking in the knee range in front of the groin pole as five logs take turns gliding to the inside. Over on the seadrift side there are two logs and one SUP doing the same. Inside Mali-bo seems to be the best in shape as of now, but everything seems to be rideable out there and should stay fairly consistent throughout the day.

PATCH: Waist high witchery has twelve guys in a trance this morning as the tide is dropping and waves are rolling in fairly consistently. Water levels will start to dwindle as the tide goes out, so maybe grab some breakfast and coffee in the mid morning and wait for the tide to come in. The SW pulses should be coming in throughout the day so don't be hasty and enjoy what the ocean has to offer.

Daily Surf Report - 8/16/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results." - Willie Nelson

Today's report is brought to you by the letter K - which I feel doesn't get much love, but should.  Krackling good morning with no wind, temp of 60F, high clouds and forekasted nice weather.  Kombo swells with NW and SW having a koncurrent meeting and generating rideable surf in town today.  Dropping tide putting a little damper on the fun as water levels exposing a bit more sand and rock than needed.  Still a fun sized mix of surf for longboards of all levels.  Energy remains and there should be surf all day especially if the winds stay light.  Water is extremely warm so no boots, hoods or gloves required - and in some cases no suits!!  Strap on the neoprene, pull out the log, apply sunscreen, hydrate and show some love to the letter K.

CHANNEL:  Outgoing tide about to hit low has it a bit choppy and sectioned out.  There are waves here but you will need to be choosy to find the ones that hold shape and allow for some turns to be made.  Best bet now are the Groin bar corners and a few Mali-Bo insders which are running thigh high or better.  The deeper Channel bar has a few pitchy ones but the low water causing more close outs than fantastically surfable waves. A few korners to be had in general but has been better on the incoming tide later in the day.

PATCH:  Krushing surf in the almost waist high size this morning.  Water levels dropping so likely time for a coffee break and snack until the tide turnaround starts filling back in.  Inside Snags has good sandbars and fast and fun rights that will take you to the beach and deposit you on the sand with no problemo.  Slide, glide and ride but ABIDE the final kick-out section to save fins.  Outside near the meeting rock the S pulses are best viewed and ridden.  Rights nearing waist high or better that break, reform, back off and roll.  Slopey style waves that are smooth and tip time can be had for the skilled.  Fun stuff in general for the right board and positive mindset crew.  Afternoon and evening water levels are good for sessions into the dark.

Daily Surf Report - 8/15/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." - Maya Angelou

S winds cramping my style and diminishing the positivity vibe.  Still have some NW and SW energy showing off but a bit textured this morning and tide draining off to low.  Waves to ride but smoothness is up for debate.  Keep it real and know the deal and you will get waves today for sure.  Bring the log as it is Bolinas but keep a fish handy for incoming tide expression session.  Morning overcast and coastal cloudiness but that wont last long and mild weather is on the schedule.  Temp is 61F for the moment and if the winds remain light the day is ON for fun surf today.

CHANNEL:  A bit chopped up with outgoing tide and moderate S winds.  Still has a thigh high wave to ride but the corners are cleaner than the deeper bar which is mostly closing out.  May just need to wait for the tide turnaround and the winds to slack off a bit but it has been relatively consistent here so don't give up hope for better surf happening later today.

PATCH:  Smooth rights on the inside Snags section.  Get it while it's hot and the rocks are covered.  Tide dropping low - but not too low.  A few navigational moves will be required to keep your fins intact this morning.  Outside at the meeting rock S pulses can be seen and felt.  Long waits but better rides when they break.  Size overall is thigh high + and all Logjammers are rejoicing.

Daily Surf Report - 8/14/2014

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." -  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Off we go with a misty and moist morning already giving way to patches of blue and sun potential.  Roads get slick and wetsuits don't dry but it is closing in on the end of the week so put your happy face on.  Not sure about heat levels for today but for now it is windless and the temp is balmy at 59F.  Still have a bit of the SW swell sticking around and an early season NW swell on the horizon.  It is small and surfable as the tide finishes draining out to almost zero.  Give it a bit to flow back in and enjoy the waves that will be had. There is always something to take and something to share.  Remember positivity in the water and on land.  Make it your manta and never question WHY?  Have and ethos and avoid Nihilists whenever possible.

CHANNEL:  Reeling lefts in the thigh to waist high size.  Some are pitchy on the deeper bar but makeable sections are available.  Shoulders and corners on the Groin side of things will have less size but better shape and hold for longer.  A few little pits poke through but with the low tide longboards still rule.  More water and the NW swell could improve things during the later part of the day.  For now, wait for the tide change then jump in and ride some.  Lineup contains 8 human figures.

PATCH:  Inside rights that roll and hold in the shallow water.  A good portion of rocks exposed but enough water at the Snags to make a go of it.  Size runs knee to thigh high and smoothness is the key here.  S swell fades so infrequent pulses can be felt but waiting time is post office like.  Out by the meeting rock it is trying to fold over but not always making the crystal connection.  2 in the lineup toe tapping the morning away.

It's a beautiful morning as we start our mid week grind. A grey cloud bank is sitting high above the mesa as air temps are in the low 60s and the sun is already breaking through on the horizon above the city by the bay. From atop the overlook, the view is clear and serene as fishing boats litter the horizon amongst the corduroy lines that are making their way into Bo. With a solid 2-3ft W swell coming in throughout the day and light W winds, expect some fun surf and fairly clean conditions. As of right now the tide is a bit low, but waves are still breaking in the knee high range. With more water later this morning and into the afternoon the size should improve into a hopeful waist high range and maybe waist plus on the sets. Bring your logs and fishes out today and see whats in store.

CHANNEL:    Some little ankle-knee high rollers are coming through over on the Seadrift side as two guys are trying their luck at the low tide. Not much breaking as of yet in the middle channel and groin, but that should change throughout the morning. Wait for the tide and find some gems later today.

PATCH:    Knee high plus sets are rolling through and barely breaking out by the meeting rock with no one out. Inside Snags is peeling through as well as of now. With the incoming tide, expect those lines on the horizon to start breaking more and more in the knee to thigh plus range. Bring a log and hang ten on these little peelers later today.

Sleepy and silent is the town this morning as south winds have prevailed through the night and swept away all that was lively yesterday.  Air temps are at 62F and should heat up as the sun did come out yesterday in the late afternoon for about 3 hours. Waves are slowly breaking in the ankle range and should pick up, along with the wind, as the tide comes in later this afternoon. Later tonight a new W swell should be filling in a bit, so keep your eyes peeled and be prepared tomorrow for some fun surf.

CHANNEL:   Ankle biters are breaking onto the sandbars after having fought through the wind and tide chop this morning. Hopefully it'll clean up and build with the tide later today. As of now there isn't much to be had... except say on a boat.

PATCH:   Small waves in the ankle to knee range are rolling, but never quite breaking as of yet. Once the tide pushes in, it should improve and start to break. Some surface texture, but lines are on the horizon and with a W swell coming in later today, it could be fun for an evening session.

Once again Bolinas has returned to normal after the creature infestation of the full moon. Only the tide speaks of the days past as it is still going to extremes. The fog has disappeared this morning, leaving an overcast sky with air temps at 61F and bound to stay around there as it is unknown whether the sun will break through today finally. As for the swell, there is little to speak of as today is the official passing of the south according to NOAA. But fret not! For there is swell in the forecast for later this week! So the key for today is to wait, but be ready in the next couple of days.

CHANNEL:  Small ankle biters are hitting the exposed sandbars as the tide is at an extreme low. No one is out and it's not really a wonder as the winds are also blowing slightly and lightly onshore. Wait for the tide to come in before we see any improvement.

PATCH:  Small waves are breaking just past the meeting rock in the ankle plus range as two guys try their luck. Wait for the tide here as well before it improves. In other news, the rocky kingdoms of the deep have reached and breached the surface greeting your fins and board alike. Be aware of whats beneath you!
