Daily Surf Report - 7/9/2013

Buenas dias vatos y cholas de surferos! It's foggy out here at the beach this morning and so quiet you could almost hear a mouse pass gas from the Stinson/Sea Drift side of the lagoon. It's 57 degrees and should warm up a bit later. No wind to speak of making it Windex glassy out here BUT... almost no surf to speak of either. Small to non-existent in each spot but once the tide turns around one never truly knows what the day can bring. I'll update right here if anything should change for the better.

CHANNEL: A little bit of a swell attempting to show but it's almost knee high (but not quite) and it's in ankle deep water as the tide is WAY out. Sand bars are more visible than Janet Jackson's nipple at a Super Bowl halftime show. When the tide shifts gears later perhaps this spot may show something worth while. Two humanoids are out there now attempting to make it look like they are surfing before they have to stop and trudge off to their respective cubicles and go back to living the "Office Space" lifestyle. Let's hope that they don't have to move their desk again.... and they get to keep the red Swingerland stapler too.

PATCH: The Patch is really trying by letting knee-high slurpers grunt and wheeze around the Meeting Rock/Bulk Head/Rock before disappearing completely back under the oceans surface never to be heard from again. So, with the tide turnaround perhaps the good 'ol Patch will give you something later today instead of acting like Lucy and snatching the football away at the last second. No one here but a few gulls.

Daily Surf Report - 7/8/2013

Good morning humanoids who glide upon the brine! Another week is ahead of us and it's just flat-out great to be here! It's gray and overcast out here at the beach but the sun could make an appearance at any time. The temperature is slipping in at a fuzzy 57 degrees. Now, let's cut to the chase, shall we? There is an on-shore wind putting more pock marks on the water surface than Edward James Olmos has on his face. Wave size can be measured with a twelve inch school ruler and you wouldn't even have to use all of it. Yep. That small. If things change I'll be sure to post it up right here.

CHANNEL: It's resembling one aspect of Disney Land today... "It's A Small World After All." Couple this with a low, LOW tide where the sandbar looks like Gilligan's Island and the on-shore wind seems more suited to fly kites than surf. No one out but I didn't really need to say that, did I?

PATCH: The rocks at the Patch are out grinning their collective ding-inducing teeth. Teeny, six-to-eight inch rollers are slurping across this craggy territory and can't seem to even have the decency to at least pretend to break. Frank the lonely Pelican is out there sweeping up like a janitor at the end of a high school dance (cue music; "True" by Spandau Ballet).

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Daily Surf Report - 7/7/2013

The second day of the surf hangover in town continues with marginal conditions and a general disarray among most living humans.  Overcast, SW onshore winds, and a hunger for your fellow man...Zombie apocalypse in Bo-Town.  57 degrees and the sign of the beast, another morning to wash away your sins and hopefully survive the day, dreaming of glassy conditions, good waves, and no cannibalizing zombie brethren in sight.  Pray for surf...and your soul.

CHANNEL: Suit up and join the other three living dead out in the channel this morning...we've got ankle and knee biting zombies crawling around, pushing here and chasing there.  Some limbs akimbo might help you generate some speed to make a section, a piece or part here and there, and flee the scene of one subhuman amongst another, scratching and clawing for the morose waves that stir the craving hunger for tube flesh.

PATCH: The patch still resembles a zombie, mulling around muttering brains, brains, BRAINS.  Smack your head against the exposed rocks, reefs and urchins and donate some grey matter to your beloved underlayer of surf zone machinations.

Daily Surf Report - 7/6/2013

Its a weird day in town today. A thick awkwardness fills the air as everyone begins to wake up and realize all the things they did. Fog has followed close behind with a temp of 55*F. Turbulent seas are the evil spawn of the south westerly winds and it seems hard for everyone to shake off their morning cloud. No lamas are surfing this moment but three were getting suited up on the beach and the Lama -vs- Lama body surfing competition starts at 9:04 sharp. (No sheep allowed.)

CHANNEL: Sad and bad to the untrained eye. If you were a regular person, you might see an ankle high wave, ground to a pulp, which ends in moments. However, if you are getting as weird as I would like, than there are radical stormy sets that are just waiting for a brave enough soul to charge the impossible. No animals out yet. Be the barnyard brawler who makes the best of the conditions.

PATCH: Let us take a moment of silence for our fallen friend. It seems like just yesterday there was ample wave action to slip and slide or glide and ride. If only the patch was still with us, we could enjoy its playful sections and frolic in its shallows forever. RIP

Daily Surf Report - 7/5/2013

Aftermath of a good town party this morning.  Plenty of debri to clean up and everyone should do their part.  Tear it all down then build it back up and move along.  Getting in the water today may be the cure for all ills this morning.   A day of morning sunshine and 58F with a breeze a bit SE.  Sideshore / onshore but has some grooming capabilities.  Grab a coffee and a longboard, pull on the damp wetsuit and keep the patriotism in check today.

CHANNEL:  Still a left spinner working in the Channel on the outside bar.  We have low tide filling in and a high tide that is actually mid.  Shallow depths way outside which lets you know there is a workable sandbar in place.  Clear, glistening and sunny with waves to ride.  What more can you ask for today?  A pod of about 8 are on it and the Channel is the spot this morning.  Size looks to be waist high at best and shape is good.  A few glide-able / ride-able ones that will take you for a long ride.  Late morning Mali-BO rides may occur once the tide gets higher.

PATCH:  Still relatively flat with a periodic ripple.  Knee high rights not looking too promising at this time but there is 1 NUPper on it today!  Join him for some water aerobics as you wait for the sets to arrive.  Take the paddle battle challenge and give your arms the workout they deserve.  Hook one up and skip freely to the nose for some Tip Time.  More water may be required for all the above to occur but the potential is endless.

Daily Surf Report - 7/4/2013

Limited Holiday Hours: Closing 3pm for BBQ

Good morning and Happy Independence Day.  We have a full town bursting at the seams.  ALL parking spots are claimed by sleeping occupants.  We have unchained roaming pitbulls and motorcycles on the beach.  We have fireworks, explosions and early morning smoke coupled with beer and patriotism galore.  God bless America.  We also have a very calm weather morning with partial overcast and temp of 60F.  A bit humid again with sunshine just on the horizon.  Strap on your red / white / blue wetsuit and show the ocean some love.  Get some waves then relax with hot dogs and apple pie while the local festivities unfold.  It is a day you don't want to miss and being a participant is encouraged.

CHANNEL: Smooth glide-able fun waves outside in the Channel.  Mainly lefts with the occasional right and size goes almost waist high.  Water is very warm and the ocean is glassy.  Shaping up a bit as the tide fills in and definitely worth a dip.  A few of the better ones will run to the inside so grab your rail and head down the line.

PATCH: Flat with a periodic ripple.  Knee high rights not looking too promising at this time but the first surfer to jump in will have it ALL to themselves.  S swell is gone but keep an open ear for something calling your name.

Daily Surf Report - 7/3/2013

10:45am Weather Update: Sun is out, 65*F

Calm morning for your yoga routine. Surfing may be a little harder to achieve. I'm seeing 4 or 5 janitorial surfers in the water trying to sweep up every little wave they see. On the bright side they have cleaned up the surface to a sheet of glass. Two dudes logging on at the groin but they are having little progress. They sky's are as gray as your high-school hallway but with a temperature of 61*f. Its warm and warming up with a good chance the gray will burn. Surf might be micro but it is rideable with a large board and a positive spirit.

CHANNEL: Calling it groin high, while sitting. Triple to quadruple over toe sets are do-able if you are a man of the strong paddle. Local seal populations are wild and free and love to show off their barrel rolls. Get your lily white skin under the sun and put some cross in your step.

PATCH: SUP jousting competition starts at high noon. Bets are welcome and there will be blood. Paddle sharpening will be happening around 9am sharp so don't be late. Sign up is $45 dollars and blood oaths will be taken. Surf is a powerful shin high which should make the battle even more or less interesting.
Overall it looks like a beautiful morning and good day to enjoy the quiet before the 4th.
