Daily Surf Report - 10/7/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Give me champagne when I'm thirsty--give me reefer when I wanna' get high." - McKinley "Muddy Waters" Morganfield

Good morning everyone. It's a beautiful fall morning at 50 degrees and sunny. The surf is somewhat rolling but maybe lolling would be the proper word right now. Big boards will work but you have to catch it before that BIG tide comes in and shuts it all down like the stoppage of a government bill!

CHANNEL:  Waist-to-just-under-waist high lefts outside of the Groin Pole. Fresh and clean like just after a breath mint. Big boards will be the only tool for this job today as the higher than Cypress Hill tide is on it's way. Only Steve on the new longboard is there now before work.

PATCH:  Lines are coming in at the Patch today but it seems only the set wave is actually breaking.... and not with every set. Waist high (at best) outside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head but that pesky tide is coming up and it's going to be 'bong load' high, which generally will shut off the fun here. Big board will work for a while with A LOT of time on your hands to hunt & peck for that one ride. No one out yet.

Daily Surf Report - 10/6/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Arise, awake, and stop not until the goal is achieved." - Swami Vivekananda

It is another gem of a day in beautiful West Marin.  Sun shines brightly, birds chirp, animals scurry through the fields, winds blow lightly from the E and a few waves roll towards the beach as well.  Currently 55F and will warm up nicely today.  Yesterday hit low 90s so bring the sunscreen and shorts out to the beach.  It is magical if you are open to the infinite possibilities that will present themselves to you today.  Greet the day with and open heart and mind and find a few waves to ride as well.

CHANNEL:  Small surf in pieces and parts this morning.  Tide pushing in and that is a good thing.  Will start to get the Mali-BO area working and put a bit more water on top of the good sandbars.  Longboards are on it and wave size is thigh high + and should pick up a notch.  Plan a double session and sample the area.  Hit in now then get some brekkie.  Tap a nap and hit is later on the outgoing as well.  Great beach day and there are waves to ride if you like it small.

PATCH:  Starting to wake up and get real.  Understand the Patch likes S swell and realize the Patch requires big boards.  If you have a 9.6' single-fin log you are golden and should paddle out.  If you need more foam check the shop rack and remember the right tool for the right job.  Inside rollers breaking in the waist high size.  Smooth and holding up towards the inside sand.  Should improve as the tide fills in as well.

Daily Surf Report - 10/5/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
“For happiness is anyone and anything at all that's loved by you.” - Charlie Brown Character In Comic Strip Peanuts

If you don't love Fall please check yourself and correct yourself.  The kale, chard, carrots and broccoli are growing.  The sun shines brightly while the morning and evening temps drop.  Bundle up early then enjoy sun and warmth during the day.  East winds blow with warm valley air.  Offshore breezes groom up the surf.  Temps soar and all is good in the world.  Reap the benefits of Mother Nature's bounty.  Very sunny and clear now moderate winds.  Temp is 63F and warming by the minute.  A small but steep S swell is on the buoys but not translating to much yet.  Get your refractive crystal out and make some sense of all the ocean has to offer.  A nice beach day for sure.  Get yourself in the water and chew your Purple Sage later.

CHANNEL:  Beautiful morning with meager wave action.  Good sandbars but not too much swell hitting them right now.  Still a decent contingent of about 10 in the water making efforts on thigh high waves.   Longboards will work but some patience and effort will be required.

PATCH:  Needs more time and water and may get working if this new S swell is for real.  Right now flatness with the occasional inside roller that kinda sorta wants to break then doesn't.  Might be worth checking in on later as the day progresses.

Daily Surf Report - 10/4/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"A mind is a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled.” - Plutarch

Plenty of overnight high winds have littered the roads with natures debris.  Beware branches, leaves, pine cones, limbs and other assorted-ness as you make your way to the beach.  Slow down as some pieces are big and chunky.  Sunny and clear now with E winds that are moderate to light.  Air temp is warm (61F) while water temp has chilled (49F).  Great time to get that new Winter suit and patch up the old one.  We just stocked up on hooded fullsuits and booties so check it out if you are cold. It is a beautiful beach day.  An - I don't work Fridays day.  A day off school day.  A nice day to be outside.  Still a few waves to ride and the incoming tide is filling in and giving a little push.  Find your inner green thumb.  Plant your kale and harvest your Purple Sage.

CHANNEL:  Sunny and smooth with good sandbars and a bit of surf to ride.  Size runs knee / thigh / waist?  Pick 2 out of 3 and have fun.  Bring something big and foamy and you will leave with a smile.  Low tide starting to fill in otherwise a bit shallow but workable.  3 in the water enjoying the morning glide.

PATCH:  Starting to come up with the tide.  Rollicking rollers making an appearance.  Smoothness showing with waves thigh to waist high.  Breaking in the Snags and mid-way but wanting to get going outside as well.  About 8 spread out here and more migrating over.  Grab the log and get busy.

Daily Surf Report - 10/3/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"I can live for two months on a good compliment " - Mark Twain

Sunny and crystal clear this morning with sparkling water like diamonds.  Almost too bright to see on this glorious Fall day.  Temp coming in at 50F and E winds moderate to stiff giving us that offshore spray and raining crystalline drops off the backs of waves. The last gasps of swell are out there and longboards will find waves today.

CHANNEL:  Sunny and near blinding in the Channel with a few rollers here, there and everywhere.  Small waves in the thigh / waist size and not organized but clean.  About 8 loggers out there now getting a few and there are waves to ride if you are into that type of thing.  Grab some foam + wax and enjoy the beautiful day at the beach.

PATCH: Almost flat but occasional ankle to knee snappers on the inside that will get the log moving in the right direction.  Tide is filling in so Patch is flattening out but there is peace and solitude here and that is quite nice.

Daily Surf Report - 10/2/2013

ATTENTION! We will be closing early today but will re-open tomorrow morning at our usual time of 9AM.

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"The problem with the internet is that a lot of the information is false." - Abraham Lincoln

Good morning to the second day of October all of you surfers of the deep. It's another sunny morning here at the beach with the temperature sliding in at a cool 50 degrees. The swell that was here is now in it's death rattle as we are currently experiencing diminishing returns... but what the heck! Take a little break between the swells as there is ALWAYS another one on its way.

CHANNEL:  Still a little something here as the set waves look to be waist + but not a lot of oomph left behind these little churners as the swell 'Fades Away' like the Buddy Holly tune. However, fading swells isn't detouring anyone as there are about eight (8) in the drink on varying water craft (janitor planks to butt-wiggling short boards).

PATCH: The Patch is back to it's former self...no, not flat. The "other" self; thigh high gurglers that flatten out and disappear back into the brine. Very slow and with this up-coming tide it's going to  do the Buddy Holly....yeah, 'Fade Away.' Three (3) desperate souls there now.

Daily Surf Report - 10/1/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"My wave!." - Leroy the Masochist

Good morning to all of you purveyors of the brine. It's the first day of October and that means it's time to get your slide on! NO FOG nor drizzle today at the beach and plenty of surf to go around, so get on the hydrodynamic craft of your choice and glide, slide and ride!

CHANNEL:  Sets coming in between waist to chest high outside of the middle bar breaking left towards the Groin Pole and the right on the Sea Drift side. Just about any board (or no board) will work here today! Seven or eight (7-8) in the spot waiting for a shot. More are rubberizing their bodies in the parking lot and getting ready to invade.

PATCH: Every now and again even a blind squirrel finds an acorn and today the Patch is smoldering still with sets in the waist + size. Get the log and glide with no fog as this is truly a great way to start the day. As Freddy Prinze used to say, "Looking good!" Five (5) out there now with more on the way.
