Daily Surf Report - 8/7/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"There is no Devil, it's just God when he's drunk." -Tom Waits

Good morning wave explorers of all ages, sizes and odors. It's a bit drizzly out here at the beach this morning and though it's not really much in the world of rain we desperately need anything and everything pertaining to precipitation. Even less today in the watery undulation department but it is a bit warmer at 59 degrees and glassy as all get out. Today is the waiting game. The tide needs to come back in and it will be doing so post haste, HOWEVER a bit of a swell is also what is needed but like every president that has come down the pike in my time, it ain't delivering.

CHANNEL:  Right now the tide is way too low and the sand bars are exposed like Mark Weiner. One must wait until the tide comes back in and maybe, MAYBE with a big enough board you can glide, glide, glide. Three (3) impatient humanoid's are in the close-out, knee high breaking into 6" of water bouncing off of the bottom right now.

PATCH:  Glassy and fickle. The Patch is doing that grunting and groaning thing without really delivering any wave for which to slide upon. Thigh high at the Rock/Bulk Head/Meeting Rock which crumbles then disappears faster than a box of donuts at a fat camp. Maybe later.... maybe later in the week? One (1) janitor we call "The Pelican" out there right now cleaning up and polishing that turd.

Adult Surf Camp will be offered from August 12th to August 15th for $320 per person. Camp will last from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and will include over 3 hours of instruction per day. Students will receive instruction on the beach and in the water and have the opportunity to surf both of the breaks in Bolinas in a range of tides and conditions. Adult Surf camps are the perfect way to quickly improve your surfing skills or learn the basics. Camp size is kept small (4 to 6 people) to ensure students receive the personal attention needed to improve. Advanced registration is required to attend and you can sign up HERE.  Surf equipment (board, wetsuit and boots) will be available to rent from the 2 Mile Surf Shop for your clinic and will be $50/day

Daily Surf Report - 8/6/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Be cool, dude. Don't harsh my buzz." -Barrett

Good morning everyone and welcome to another gray summer morning here at the beach. The temperature is slipping in at a cool but comfortable 56 degrees and again, no wind as of yet making the water surface glassy and shinier than Michael Jordan's head. The tiny drawback here is that the little swell we had as done up and left.... pretty much. Janitorial gear or the time to wait out the low tide with a HUGE board could make the difference between gliding at the Channel or working on your resume.

CHANNEL:  Exposed sand bars. Yes, the tide is sagging lower than a wannabe gangsta from Larkspur's pants. There is a teeny knee (+/-) wave trying to break on the outside but there isn't really too much push today. Again, with the incoming tide, the sand bars eventually becoming covered there may be a little something-something later today. BIG boards could be the answer. No one here yet as I write this.

PATCH:  Glassy as the eyes of a blond dreaded, Fairfax 'Trustafarian' after a huge bong rip of the NorCal sticky-icky BUT the waves are very small and generally dissipate into the murky abyss. Long period waits as these little teasers start inside of the Rock/Bulk Head/Meeting Rock at knee (+/-) and either crumble towards the exposed rocks or just go away. Maybe later when the tide recedes but don't hold your breath. Only Russ on his SUP there today searching for waves and for the meaning of life. Sail on, Sailor.

Daily Surf Report - 8/5/2013

Inspirational crystal quote of the day:
"Life is simple, we insist on making it complicated." -Confucius / Barrett

Good day and happy Monday to all of you purveyors of the slide and glide. It's yet another summer gray morning here at the beach. The temperature is bopping somewhere in the neighborhood of 56 degrees and for the moment there isn't even a morsel of wind anywhere. It's all glassy for that Windex shine. Small swell still lingering in the H2O so bring the big Rosanne Barr stick and slide the day away.

CHANNEL:  The tide is filling in like my neighbor Vicki did between 7Th and 8Th grades. The bars look groomed to support what bit of swell is still in the water. Waist (+/-) over the outside middle bar going left and right to Sea Drift. The Groin Pole has some very tasty lefts that look absolutely stellar for the body surfer of the hand plane kind. Grab a large log and smile. One (1) person here as I write this.

PATCH:  There is still a little bit of swell visiting us here in town and the Patch is trying to hold on. Outside of the Meeting Rock/Bulk Head/Rock there is a waist (+/-) slipping through. Not always clean and naturally you'll have loooooooooooooonnng waits between sets but that'll give you time to catch up on world politics, BART strike debates and discuss steroid use in Major League baseball. Ten (10) humanoids on logs and custodial gear bobbing and waiting.

Daily Surf Report - 8/4/2013

4 fried chickens and a coke please.  Oh and a side of dry white toast.  The breakfast of surfing champions.  Stuff you face full and prepare for a nice long day in the water.  We have an overcast and moist morning.  Dead calm.  Glassy ocean.  Surfers love this weather especially when a new SW swell is starting to show its teeth and fill in today.  Temp is 55F and who cares if the sun comes out.  Strap on that damp suit and charge it today as surf's up amigo.

CHANNEL:  Low tide starting to fill in and will have adequate water levels to support waves all day.  Afternoons and evenings have had waist high + surf and plenty of peaks all over the area.  Most boards will work but longboards will rule the outside bar.  Right now we have thigh high lefts in the Channel and a few small rights trying to push into Mali-BO.  Also the bar right in front is still good for the body surfer or boogie board enthusiast.  Post up here if you want small but zippy inside waves or want to take the high performance log out for a spin.  Swell direction of 220 degrees will get in here today.

PATCH:  The Patch loves a S swell and is happy today.  Good long period swell giving us outside waves in the waist high + range.  Needs a bit more water to get cleaned up and really working well but wind is nil and tide is marching in and will be good throughout the entire day.  About 10 in the water on logs and SUPs and this will be the most consistent spot today.  A few rocks showing but soon to be under water.

Adult Surf Camp will be offered from August 12th to August 15th for $320 per person. Camp will last from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and will include over 3 hours of instruction per day. Daily Surf Report - 8/3/2013

Grizzled morning with fog on the deck enveloping us in a misty blanket.  Gives us glassy conditions as the swell fades to oblivion.  The surf community becomes taciturn, waiting for the next pulse from Mother Ocean.  Fear not as there are still smooth, yet small waves to ride and Poseidon is brewing up another dose of S swell scheduled to arrive tonight!  No wind at this time and temp is 55F.  Sun is coming and yesterday was warm and fine overall.  Tides are favorable and summer is in full swing so turn that frown upside down and come out to the beach for the day.

CHANNEL:  Small Channel lefts in the thigh high size but still shapely and rideable. Put the fish away and pull out the longboard today.  Better yet, strap on some fins and a hand plane and body surf the inside bars.  Learn from the masters as 2 seals are frolicking about and giving tips to those wise enough to pay attention - I did. Incoming tide may give that extra push to help out while we wait for the next swell to arrive.  Plenty of beach and lots of sand to set up camp on.

PATCH:  Decreasing is size but still log-able.  Mid-way and inside rights can be ridden and size is thigh +.  Great day for beginners and enthusiasts alike.  Decent lulls between wave bursts but un-crowded at the moment.  Tide coming up and all rocks will soon be covered.

Adult Surf Camp will be offered from August 12th to August 15th for $320 per person. Camp will last from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and will include over 3 hours of instruction per day. Daily Surf Report - 8/2/2013

Fog is in - wind is not.  Smooth and glassy with S swell remnants still pouring through.  Skies will clear shortly and sun will be out in full force.  Expect mid-warm temps most all the day - currently 56F.  Bring the family and the big board and spend a day at the beach.

CHANNEL:  Still has plenty of smooth and glide-able lefts to ride and on the deeper bar longboards are most appropriate.  Inside of the Groin pole towards the boat ramp is a pitting little left about waist high that spins and runs and will get and egg of Simmons going.  Tide still filling in so get on it!

PATCH:  Smaller surf but still lots to ride.  Pop up peaks in the almost waist high range about mid-way towards the meeting rock.  Inside rights are good and fast with explosive beach exits if you don't kick out.  Bring the log and ride the glide.

Adult Surf Camp will be offered from August 12th to August 15th for $320 per person. Camp will last from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and will include over 3 hours of instruction per day. Daily Surf Report - 8/1/2013

Welcome to August and we are greeted with sunshine, no wind, temp of 57F and a S swell.  Rejoice in the magic of summer.  Nice when things like tide and weather and swell all come together to  give you that California surfer day.  Buoys still showing 3.3' @ 15 secs from 186 degrees.  A bit steep but the Patch loves it and the Groin is feeling a bit as well.  Get you wave riding vehicles waxed up and hit the beach today for some pleasurable waves.

CHANNEL:  Lefts in the Channel best suited for longboards and coming in around waist high.  Not the perfect swell direction but some filter through and the rides are long.  Groin bar and towards the boat ramp has almost waist high spinning, golden lefts that will get the Simmons / fish / egg into top speed.  Little hollow pits to pull into and zip along towards shore on.  Get it before tide gets too fat.

PATCH:  Lots of rollers and peaks abound here this morning.  Mid-way and towards the inside is breaking consistently and waist high +.  Tide filling in so the way outside is holding back a bit but sets will break out the back and those rides are long.  Bring the loggy log and ride baby ride.  Tide will be good here all day.

Adult Surf Camp will be offered from August 12th to August 15th for $320 per person. Camp will last from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and will include over 3 hours of instruction per day.
