Daily Surf Report - 3/7/2013

A little birdy told me winds were light last night and they seem to be that way this morning as well. A few puffs from the S but nothing normally associatied with rain storms in this area. Little combo swell in the water and light winds make it rideable today for those on longboards. It is currently overcast and 49F with a blue patch here or there. Not smooth or great but something worth checking and putting on a suit for a few rides. Tide has peaked and is sucking out so mind the rip but look for a few clean ones.


CHANNEL: Still a bit churned up but there are some Mali-Bo rights working and the occasional Groin left. Still needs another day to really clean up but it is an empty lineup at the moment so you can have all the waves to yourself. Size looks to be waist high + and a bit of push. Not the cleanest conditions but water is moving around here today.


PATCH: Little morning crew on it outside today. Rideable rights in the almost waist high size and everyone gets their turn on the ride. A few middle peaks popping up that look rideable and with the tide on the high side the inside Snags are not showing their teeth yet. Grab your log and find something here.

Daily Surf report - 3/6/2013

Goodmorning to all of you purveyors of salty endeavors. It's quite the multi-personality morning here at the beach. It's sunny (for now) with the temp rolling in at a brisk 49 degrees. There are waves in the water BUT it's near Victory-at-Sea! It looks like it's nano-seconds between waves and there is also an on-shore wind that's heavier than a Sumo wrestler. However, if you're one of those people who love a lot of paddling and not much surfing, well then this is your day. For the rest of us without severe bad judgement abilities it may be a great day to get those things that you've been meaning to do, done. If there is a change later I'll be sure to update it here.


CHANNEL: The only thing I want to see churning is an Amish person churning butter, not the ocean. The middle bar and just about everything around it is tossing about like a chimp on ten shots of espresso. Sure, it's in the waist-to-shoulder size but nothing is clean and the lagoon is draining faster than the blood from Scott Peterson's face during sentencing. Maybe later with the tide change but we're expecting more rain and the wind is on-shore. No one masochistic enough to be out.


PATCH: Same as above only a bit smaller... and let's not forget those always happy-to-ding-the-crap-out-you-and-your-board rocks that lurk just below the surface of the Clam Patch. Oh, yeah those little ding inducing trolls will be making an appearence by about lunch time. I think DB is on her way over there as I write this. Maybe she is doing this for U.S. Navy Seal training? I dunno. Go paddle out and ask her.

Daily Surf Report - 3/5/2013

2-Mile Surf Shop will be CLOSED today and will reopen on Wednesday at 10am.


Goodmorning to all of you who slip, slide and glide! It's a glassy morning here today at the beach with an air temp coming in at about 50 degrees and the water temp just above that at about 52 degrees. Don't let this slate gray morning bum you out as there are some glassy gems out there for you to slide. So, snap on the black rubber, grab a big board and glide, glide, glide.



CHANNEL: The Channel this morning, with this out-going tide is bottomed out more than Jan Michael Vincent! Slush-y, unridable crud churnning at about knee high over the soon-to-be-exposed sand bar. Perhaps later today with the returning tide it could clean up and be operatable. No takers at the moment and for good reason.


PATCH: Thigh to occasional waist high rollers today. Mostly appearing in-and-outside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head. Some rights that eventually vanish into the hole that has resided on the inside of the Rock/Meeting Rock/Bulk Head for decades BUT the left out there today is absolutely wonderful. It's all glass but please keep in mind that the rocks that comprise the "Clam Patch" will be showing their collective teeth as this tide drops out a little later this morning. About ten plus (10+) on the various log/Custodial gear.

Daily Surf Report - 3/3/2013

Cloud cover and swirly wind, but not too chilly this fine March day. Rain expected this week, and we are seeing a little bit of the forerunning weather with some swirlling winds...Lot's of surfers out in the water already making a go of it and still some swell lingering around in town. Snag some surf before the SW winds show up and we batten down the hatches.


CHANNEL: bottomed out at the low currently, with waves in the knee to thigh and waist high range. Little bit of push, but some current flowing through the middle of the channel. About 15-20 surfers spread out along the pole like a gentleman's club, and some corners here and there. Grab a log or egg and slide it up, shorter boards not working as well as yesterday.


PATCH: clam patch reef is totally exposed so dig up some grinders on way waY wAY WAY outside. About 15 longdonboarders out there sliding on some knee to thigh high nuggets. Look for improvement as the tide fills in throughout the day.

Daily Surf Report - 3/2/2013

High clouds with sun burning through. Still expected to be a nice weekend as high pressure remains over the region. Light NE winds and a temp of 52F. New NW swell in the water with buoy readings of 8' @ 15secs. We definitely have rideable surf in town today for a variety of boards. Just hit low tide and swell still showing. Incoming should bring a bit more push. Bring yourself + family out to the beach and enjoy the day.


CHANNEL: Solidly rideable with waves in the waist to shoulder high range. Relatively smooth ocean surf as winds are very light. Not perfect and still sectioning at times but there are waves that hold up and allow a drop and a few turns and even a closeout barrel or two. Expected to grow throughout the day. Groin bar lefts are starting to work again and the right is still there as well. About 10 in the water on a mix of equipment today. More water will help shape throughout the day.


PATCH: Again rideable peaks popping up all over the Patch. Outside waves are rideable on SUPs or big boards that paddle well. Size is waist high + and mostly rights with a few lefts. Waves are scattered but there for the riding. Inside waves walling up and rideable as well. Watch for the exposed and lurking rocks as boards, knees and feet no like. Much more energy today. 12 in the water. Good stuff on a log.

Daily Surf Report - 3/1/2013

Sunny, beautiful, clear skies, no wind, birds chirping, etc, etc, etc. Air temp is 49F and high pressure is over the region. Looks like mostly localized windswell today with something on the forecast to fill in overnite into the weekend. Small waves and still a nice day to get wet. Perfect for beginners.


CHANNEL: Thigh high waves still breaking over the middle bar. Sectioning and closing out at times but a few rights and the occasional left hold up for better rides and a few turns. About 6 in the water on longboards already.


PATCH: Early morning foggy, mysto wave, Bros-For-Life session with Andre and TomBlair. Super low tide with lots of rocks to smash toes, knees and boards. Still a few waves popping up and best mid-way and inside. Slow motion rides but fun and the sun is now out in all its glory. Knee high + in size. 8 in the water and more heading out. Fun stuff on a big log.
