Daily Surf Report - 2/28/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Do not fear mistakes.  There are none." - Miles Davis

Frosted white and oh so bright as again we are presented with sunshine and cold temps.  35F makes the eyes bleed and the toes tingle.  Continually fading NW swells keep the options thinly veiled and present in minute amounts.  The habitual attendee, in search of their daily stoke injection, will surely find what they seek.  The overwhelming beauty of the day is the X factor and is not to be overlooked.  Sand is being re-deposited daily and the beach is rounding back into fine form.

CHANNEL: The devil is in the details and at first glance they may escape initial observation.  Note the wide open and inviting beach.  See the inner bar mechanics as they pursue bottom contours on the incoming tide.  Turn your face skyward and soak in some welcome Vitamin D.  Assume ankle crackers and knee cappers.

PATCH:  As boards of amplified measurements are unwrapped and limbs are stretched we begin to center our expectations on the outermost limits of existence.  A worthy pursuit is in the making and while the quantity of breakers will exceed no limits the quality of the day increases exponentially.

Daily Surf Report - 2/27/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.  The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." - Thomas Edison

Freshly rinsed and spun dry as overnight rain yields to sunshine and steaming streets. Temp all the way up to 45F and not a cloud to be seen.  Blindingly sunny and winds refuse to blow - a fine day to enjoy some beach time.  A subdued mix of NW swell fights a losing battle with a growing tide.  We turn the page and bang the gavel on another week and wipe the slate clean in hopes of new beginnings.

CHANNEL: A devoted duo sits in repose and waits for swells of import to appear.  Their time together is without consequence as most arrivals are lacking in virtue.  At least they have each other.

PATCH:  When the earth is flat the options are unlimited.  SUPs and NUPs will find exercise their option as long distances must be traversed in the quest for waves.  Loggers looking to linger and layabout will be rewarded though the infrequent knee high roller may disturb the serenity.

Daily Surf Report - 2/26/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Do the right thing.  It will gratify some people and astonish the rest." - Mark Twain

Fresh and frosty with temps dipping and blipping down to 30F overnight.  Now settled in at 37F with sunshine, clear skies and a scarcity of wind.  A fine winter morning to enjoy and partake.  Current swells in fade and retrograde have the pickings slim with the prospect of new energy on the horizon.  Lower tides now will soon give way to much depth and force inertia upon us.

CHANNEL: Solemn times with limited slides as what once was isn't.  A deflated surface undulates alone with only a sign sitting seagull as an audience.  Across the pond at Seadrift may be worth a look, gander or exploratory paddle as the tide rises.

PATCH:
Lean love
All you give to me
Is lean love
I'm like a beggar in the sand
With the sky in his hand
And I'm blue

Daily Surf Report - 2/25/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Waking up to who you are requires letting go of who you imagine yourself to be." - Alan Watts

Brilliant skies under watchful eyes as we soak up and languish in the weekend energy.  Brisk and clear with a slight air chill at 40F.  Ocean climes hold steady and ready at 53F.  No winds yet tendencies show from the NE.  A mild mannered NW swell may lack the physique to fully penetrate upon gaining tides.  The stoke seekers and sun reapers are finding their way and early pleasantries will yield later karmic rewards.

CHANNEL: One peak creek as what moves forth concentrates in the Channel proper.  Mostly ebb and flow with incidental options heading left and morphing to heights nearing one's waist.  Sunny and sedate in the early morning.  Tide maxes out and softens even more.

PATCH: A far off contingent mills as higher tide pushes options to the point of no return.  Inside body whompers require a stalwart constitution and an appetite for destruction.

Daily Surf Report - 2/24/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I don't go around regretting things that don't happen." - Virgil Thompson

Yet again sunny weather and chilly air prevail. Frost is turning to vapor as the sun begins it's routine. Love and laughter can be heard this morning and fill the hearts of those unhappy. Current temperature is 47F and likely to stay there until late morning. High highs and low lows keep us on our toes. Don't question what could be, just go with the flow.

CHANNEL: More luck getting a tan today as little or less is available to surf.

PATCH: Flat for moments on end followed by something strange. Knee high, inconsistent.

Daily Surf Report - 2/23/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Two and a half years is just the beginning, baby."

Frosted night turned into morning light as not a cloud can be seen in the sky. Oh what a beautiful day to celebrate, a day to remember. The sun is shining brighter than ever before today yet the temperature remains cool. 50F at the moment and shall remain in this realm but at least we can imagine it's summer.

CHANNEL: Low flow not enough to wet your elbow.

PATCH: Few gather and less succeed. The newly outgoing tide has the surf small but glassy. Beware of rock exposure later in the day.

We are closed every Wednesday in the month of February

We will re-open on Thursday at 10:00 AM

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door." - Milton Berle

Sun salutations and road excavations on this fine Wednesday morning.  Cleaning up and drying out is the name of the game for now.  Current winds are light though previous gusts have had their effect on the ocean.  Still a large W swell to contend with and morning high tides.

CHANNEL:  I'm Tripper Harrison.  I'm your head counselor. And this is my wake-up show. I'll be coming at you every morning, about this time, hoping to make your summer camp experience the best available... in this price range.

PATCH:  Attention all campers, it's 9:30... and that's lights-out time here at Camp Northstar, 9:30 as you know. Tomorrow is parents day, and you must look rested or Morty will be sent to the state penitentiary.

Daily Surf Report - 2/21/2017

CLOSED TODAY DUE TO FLOODING ACCESS ROADS

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities." - Janos Arany

Continued carnage has most roads in, out and around shut down or unstable.  Trees fall and mud flows as the skies above release and strong winds blow.  In lieu of what has recently transpired we will be closed until the county crews can clear pathways and the rain ceases....

CHANNEL: IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER...

PATCH:  Advanced dolphins, report to the dock for survival swimming and I.Q. testing. All senior silverfish, meet on the beach for nude sunbathing. All junior salmon, trout, and herring, report to the nearest delicatessen. And 6-year-old tadpoles, report to the swamp. And all lobsters, GET OUT OF HERE! YOU'RE A MENACE!

Daily Surf Report - 2/20/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly." - John F. Kennedy

Current SW winds abating as the rain begins falling in earnest.  Now the heavy stuff can come down.  Hillsides crumble and roadsides tumble as our infrastructure deteriorates under nature's load.  Very large NW swell and storm driven S windswell are wreaking havoc along the coast.  Murky to putrid runoff can be experienced.

Daily Surf Report - 2/19/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." - Jim Rohn

Bombastic storm bearing down upon our region once again.  Settle in for more rain + wind and their associates.  Plenty of ocean swell from a multitude of directions yet now strongly buffeted by SW winds from 7 to 15 knots.  A bewitching brew not imbibed readily.  Currently 51F with cloudy skies and swollen clouds preparing for release.

CHANNEL: High tide heavings all along the parameter but in no way organized or engaged.  Too much of everything all in the wrong directions which includes tide, winds and swellAn early and empty lineup of frothy white awaits all comers.

Just crash our wind on a manic bay

Daily Surf Report - 2/18/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Right actions in the future are the apologies for bad actions in the past." - Tryon Edwards

A settling of sorts with residual carnage in the wake.  Mind the rocks, mud, trees and other remains along your route and exercise caution on all blind turns.  Light E winds and 53F with patchy blue skies and glimmers of sun warms the heart.  A heady NW swell coupled with a SW dosage and smoothing conditions is dare I say rideable?  Reorganized and energetic with swirled sandbars to set a mysterious tone.  Plenty of water and initiative for all.

CHANNEL: Wide swaths of pulsing peaks upon the dropping tide.  Fully engaged though along shifted paradigms.  Waves from the boat ramp through into the Channel with ranging sizes from waist to shoulder.

PATCH:  As the tide descends the apex point gets pushed further out to allow for adequate water supplies.  Along the route are peaks of potential and personality.  Loggers delight as the options are plentiful and pleasant.
