Daily Surf Report - 6/30/2012

Gradually clearing overcast with a current temp of 59F. Again no wind and again micro waves. We have shin-burners and barnacle-bashers rolling through today.
Suggestions: Add a few feet to your longest board and you may have a chance of riding waves today. Bring a book to the beach and wait for the tide to fill in. Pray to the surf totems for more swell. Stop by the shop and buy a new board.

Channel: Utlra smooth, glassy and very, very small. Inside middle bar waves in the ankle/knee high size. Not completely flat but close. Inner bar Mali-Bo reform again has a small right that is ankle to calf high. Currently 2 people out in the water - nice.

Patch: Flat and glassy - no bueno for surfing. Lake Bolinas right now. Good for SUPs, kayaks and swimmers today. We may see some improvement at this location later in the day as tide fills in. Small waves could appear in the evening.

Summer Time = Simmons Time.

If you haven't seen or tried the Mini-Simmons now is the time. Old and new ideas come together, this displacement hull and almost no rocker has been improved by ending the tail with a double concave and a quad fin setup. The fastest and funnest board I've ever ridden. So buttery and skatey on the turns with speed for days. Works insane in all conditions and ridden ridiculously small. We now have a 5'10" DEMO board in the shop that you can rent to experience the difference. Stock sizes in the rack are 5.6, 5.8, 5.10 and 6.0

Just a reminder to pack your trash!!! PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.

Low: 3:19 am -0.6'
High: 10:24 am 4.1'
Low: 2:42 pm 2.4'

Lots of NEW and USED boards are in the racks so come check it out. Full wetsuits, 3 and 5mm booties, hoods and gloves are in stock as well. If you are in need of a new suit or board now is a great time to shop. We have all the gear for your cold water surfing needs.

Daily Surf Report - 6/29/2012

Ahhh Summer - misty overcast but a balmy 59F this morning. No wind and ultra glassy conditions with micro-waves. Bring something big big to the beach and you will catch waves today.

Channel: Smooth, glassy and very small. Middle bar waves in the knee high size. Surfers in the water on longboards catching some. Inner bar Mali-Bo reform has a small right that is also knee high and rideable on a longboard. Currently 8 people out in the water.

Patch: Flat and glassy - no bueno for surfing. Good for SUPs, kayaks and swimmers today. We may see some improvement at this location later in the day as tide fills in. Small waves appeared last night in the knee high size.

Daily Surf Report - 6/28/2012

All sun, No wind, 57F - can you say "Beach Day"
Temps again expected to hit somewhere in the 70s! Small surf but beautifully glassy and logable. Bring something big to the beach and catch waves today.

Channel: Slow rolling wave in the thigh high size breaking along the middle bar. Smooth and surfable with a nice big longboard. Inner bar Mali-Bo has the reform right that is knee to thigh high and again rideable on a longboard. Currently 4 people out in the water.

Patch: Flat and glassy - not the best surfing combo. Good for SUPs, kayaks and swimmers today. A few seals frolicking on the inside. We may see some improvement at this location later in the day as tide fills in.

Daily Surf Report - 6/27/2012

Bolinas is in water conservation mode and neither the beach nor the shop has showers for rinsing. You can now purchase a re-usable 2.5 gallon water heater jug from the shop or bring your own. A great accessory for the traveling surfer.

It's another glorious day here at the beach. It's currently 54 degrees with a golden hue of sunshine bathing the entire beach this morning. Though it's brisk now, fear not as it should once again bump up in temperature and hit somewhere in the 70+ mark today! At the moment there is a little something in the water at the Channel and its marching through the sandbars like Shriners in a parade. There is no wind blowing which means you should bring some Windex because these little waves are glassy. Word for the day; Sun Block.

Channel: A thigh/waist high left, as well as a right is breaking on the middle bar. The tide is going out and that should improve it a bit more. Currently 6 people out with a mix of longboards and SUP's.

Patch: Flat as a pool table and twice as green. We may see some improvement at this location later in the day.

Bolinas is in water conservation mode and neither the beach nor the shop has showers for rinsing. You can now purchase a re-usable 2.5 gallon water heater jug from the shop or bring your own. A great accessory for the traveling surfer.

It is sunny here today at the beach and it promises to heat up a little more as well. Currently it's 55 degrees but should hit about 70+ today! Teeny, fading swell with some teeny lefts tumbling along the sandbars in the Channel. There is a slight off shore blowing now with just a kiss of texture on the water and holding the teeny waves up. Word(s) for the day; Teeny waves = Big Log.

Channel: A thigh high left is almost midway between the Groin pole and the boat ramp. the tide is going out and that pesky sand bar, coupled with the emptying lagoon make it a bit of a tough go BUT you can do it on a log.

Patch: Nope. Below ankle sputtering into the exposed rocks. We may see some improvement at this location later in the day when the tide comes back up?

Bolinas is in water conservation mode and neither the beach nor the shop has showers for rinsing. You can now purchase a re-usable 2.5 gallon water heater jug from the shop or bring your own. A great accessory for the traveling surfer.

It's Monday and there is a fading swell, fading but somewhat south swell, with some lefts tumbling along the sandbars. The gray n' gloom early morning weather should break a little later this morning making it a wonderful sunny day to be at the beach. Word for the day; Log.
In celebration of Sir Paul McCartney's 70Th birthday we are playing all Beatles today at the shop!

Channel: A waist high left is barreling through here almost midway between the Groin pole and the boat ramp. However (yeah, there always seems to be one of those "however's" at Bo)the tide she is a goin' out and that pesky sand bar, coupled with the emptying lagoon make it a bit of a tough go BUT you can do it on a log. One lone soul out there catching lefts.

Patch: About two people out longbaording the inside right in front of the rocks on the Snags side of the Clam Patch. It's glassy but in the shin to knee/thigh high range. We may see some improvement at this location later in the day.

Greetings earth dwelling mammals. Star date 06242012, The star at the center of our solar system is shining, the moon is on its way to the first quarter, 51 degrees, the wind is calm, dogs are barking, kittens are purring, birds chirping, your hybrid car makes no noise, and there is fading windswell, fading but somewhat steady south swell, and glistening sea squirrell waves tumbling along sandbars that your terrestrial mentality cannot begin to comprehend. Sunday funday and a day of rest, seems like a natural time to paddle out on a hefty board, take a nap on the outside, contemplate and get existential as you paddle into a little reeling urchin free dwelling cavern of aqua marine, each wave a snowflake spawned of the tears of Posedien, and relax as the seafoam washes away the drudgery of your timid existence in an ever expanding universe...

Channel: the sand is exploring itself like a pubescent adolescent, groin bar moving steadily towards the boat ramp, and some fun little sectiony waves, about knee to thigh to waist to triple over gnarwhal, out there for the 15 or so surfers on it, spread out and fun looking. With more tide the Malibobo express could zip you along towards the lagoon, offering some zen like trim tourettes with Dingo your favorite Vietnam vet from Ka-San, but its Shabbos so give him a wave dude.

Patch: lots of rocks, if Scrooge McDuck was a meth head he'd be diving head first into the clam patch with a blow torch. About 12 people out longbaording the far far out pyschadelic outside, in the shin to knee to thigh high range and some gnarly SUPers corking out on the inside rocky surgeon's table, going for broke. As the earth rotates, the tide slacks off, and begins to fill, we may see some improvement at this location, one paddle, two paddle, three paddle, four paddle, carries you home.

Bolinas is in water conservation mode and neither the beach nor the shop has showers for rinsing. You can now purchase a re-usable 2.5 gallon water heater jug from the shop or bring your own. A great accessory for the traveling surfer.

Fading south swell and tide dropping LOW makes it important to get on it early before the sun rises. Still pulses of energy out there but lots of rocks and sand starting to expose. Incoming tide throughout the day and into the evening will improve conditions. Currently all sunny and calm with a temp of 53F. No wind and beautiful morning.

Channel: Spinning golden cylinders to pull in to with occasional waves to turn on. Dropping tide making it start to section out. A few small hollow waves in the thigh high range and better ones in the waist high size. Handplaners will get barrels and longboarders get pieces and parts to surf. Best between the boat ramp and the Groin sign. Improvement will come with more water later in the day and Mali-Bo has worked in the evening.

Patch: Lots of rocks exposed BUT this is still the call today as the South fades but still kicks out rollers past the meeting rock. Inside Snags has rights to ride as well but watch out for the bottom. Waves anywhere from knee to waist depending on the spot.

A few notables you may see in the water today include the following:

Attention K-Mart shoppers! We have a Blue Light Sale on all small South swells today. It's overcast with light winds and mist-wanting-to-rain weather. The tide is low, low, low this morning. Currently 54 degrees. A bit of a bump from a South swell, with a big board and patience waves can be had and the Patch is the call. Incoming tide throughout the day is the key.

Channel: Scattered (super) low tide peaks with surf in the knee / thigh range. The sand bar is almost showing but there are left spinners to be had between the ramp and the Groin sign. Improvement will come with more water later in the day. Conditions have a little texure on the surface.

Patch: Lots of rocks exposed BUT this may be the call today as the South has lots of little lines coming through way out past the meeting rock and inside with the expose rocks are a few little waves in the knee to waist high range. When the tide turns log-in-the-fog is the call for this spot in the afternoon.

Daily Surf Report - 6/18/2012

Good morning, Campers! It's overcast and a bit gloomy here at the beach this morning. The surf, unbelievable as it may be, is STILL small and there is a bit of texture on the water as again the wind has turned south. There is a bit of a bump coming through the Channel in the hip-to-occasional-waist high range but is does section a bit. Patience is the word this morning.
With the incoming tide I bet it gets a bit better later today. As of now, no one is in the water with the exception of two fishermen with four lines in the H2O at the Groin.

Channel: Wind bowl peaks with incoming tide giving us a hope for improvement. Longboards are the call to cut through the chop slop. There is a little swell pushing through. Imagine knee to thigh high. Afternoon / evening glass off has been worth the wait.

Patch: Not much right now. Just over ankle on the inside right in front of the exposed rocks. Maybe later.....?

Daily Surf Report - 6/17/2012

2-Mile will be closing at 5pm today.

Good morning, which direction are we facing, where am I? Who am I? What are we doing here? These are the existential wanderings of a water logged inert surf mind...
It is sunny and warm again, however the surf, unbelievable as it may be, is smaller than yesterday and the wind has turned southie.
Ahh, but make the most of the weather and do something fun, and if you happen to come to the beach today, make sure you pack your trash. We had lots of traffic out here on the sandy realm and lots of trash seems to have migrated to the beach, so remember it's not a dump or a litter box.

Channel: Scattered wind bowl peaks with incoming tide giving us a hope for improvement. Longboards are the call to cut through the chop slop. It is sunny so make the best of the day. Imagine knee to thigh high. Afternoon / evening glass off has been worth the wait.

Patch: Not much right now. A few inside rights that could use more water to get working in a surfable way. Good for the SUP and kayaker looking for a morning paddle. Again, sunny and beautiful.

Daily Surf Report - 6/16/2012

It's a Don Ho-Down kind of day, gonna have Hawaiian/Surf/Country music playing all day till our ears bleed out pineapple, grab your log and hula to the tip, pass the poi, Mahalo!, and dangle with a little hang ten. We'll pull the grill out later, stop by, bring a soda pop, beer, hot dogs, roadkill, spam or burgers and throw something this evening, we'll be open late today.

Look out for the birds, it is warm with lots of sunshine, light offshore breezes and GI Joe Commando surf, grab your shrink ray and suit up for some gnarlburger shred-athon-age, and look out for the shore to shore racers. Perhaps all of their paddling will create a little swell and we can ride the tail wakes like the streaking Haley's comet. Gonna be a lot of hustle and bustle in Bolinas today so have fun, be safe, and everybody Wang Chung tonite.

Channel: double to triple over clownfish, with occasional seahorse high waves. Slightly dismal at present...the surf needs...something...
Should you find yourself at the right place at the right time, crystals charged with the correct trajectory, there might be a little spinner to be had. Some waves breaking here and there throughout the channel, but needing some swell, alas, perhaps the infamous tide push will provide sustenance to our wave starved status.

Patch: lots and lots of rocks, go grab some shell fish and grill'em up. Tide push should hopefully improve the condition of the condition. Double over barnacle at present.

Daily Surf Report - 6/15/2012

It's all good with lots of sunshine and no wind today. Just a little bit of S swell in the water and NW windswell that is giving us something to ride in both spots but best on a longboard. It's currently 55 degrees and calm with warm temps expected through the weekend.

Channel: Thigh to almost waist high on the middle bar and a little smaller on the Groin bar. Still rideable lefts that are workable to the inside. Tide push may help improve conditions and then stays mid for the rest of the day. About 10 out now with more suiting up.

Patch: Inside rights that are thigh high +. Smooth and glidable to the inside rocks. Enough water covering things to get a few long rides. Tide is favorable for this spot today. Very loggable today.

Daily Surf Report - 6/14/2012

Hats off to Matt Cain. First perfect game in Giant's baseball history!

It's all sunshine, not cold, and no wind here today. There's a little push in the water at the moment and both places are working(somewhat). It's 54 degrees and calm. The best call this morning is the Channel. Busting off about waist to occasional chest high. Middle sand bar mostly.

Channel: Waist to occasional chest high on the middle bar. Closing a bit but if you read the waves right a good one will come through. Middle sandbar. About 8 out now. All sorts of boards

Patch: Thigh high peelers on the inside. The tide coming up seems to be helping. Very loggable.

Daily Surf Report - 6/13/2012

June Gloom...has arrived.
Overcast marine layer is present, so no sunshine, not cold, and no wind. If we had swell I'd be doing a hula haka shaka gnar gnar dance on the boat ramp, but not much at this time. 54 degrees and calm. My best bet is that their is surf elsewhere on such a calm morning, search it out, and stay thirsty my friends.

Channel: Little waves here and there...a few longboarders out at Seadrift across the way and three SUPers in the middle of the channel, glassy and about kneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to maybe waist high.

Patch: zip zilch. Not producing anything at the moment, maybe later?

Daily Surf report - 6/12/2012

Another beautiful morning here in Bobobobobobobobolinas.
Small waves, no crowd. Warbles and logjams. 55 degrees and no wind.
It's still good?

Channel: shin to knee to waist, a little bit of warble on it, like the ocean can't make up it's mind, but fairly glassy with little bits and pieces of waves to be had. Three guys out on longhogboards and getting some smooth little crumblers.

Patch: nada mucho ahora. Rocks are revealing themselves, and there is no one out, probably about knee high, could improve later in the day.

Daily Surf Report - 6/11/2012

The sun is out and it's another beautiful day here in Bo. No wind, temp is about 55 degrees and still warming. The slow drain.... the lagoon is emptying out and the waves are still there, only slurping over a shallow sand bar. In the knee to waist size right now but still log worthy. The Patch is showing a little smaller inside and showing A LOT of the namesake (rocks=Clam Patch). Great day for SUP's and logs!

Channel: knee to waist high. Some little waves happening, tide bottoming out a little low for it now but could improve with the incoming tide today, a few people on longboards and SUPs.

Patch: too low right now. Loads of the patch/rocks showing

Daily Surf Report - 6/10/2012

Sunny and no wind...55 degrees...little bits of swell. Another day in paradise.
Man gets up.
Checks surf.
Suits up.
Shreds n glides despite the harrowing conditions...

Channel: knee waist belly button upslide. some little waves happening, tide bottoming out a little low for it now but could improve with the incoming tide today, 12 people out on fishes, mini-simmons, longboards and SUPs.

Patch: handful of people out, actually some little dribblers zipping along, check it out with your log.

Daily Surf Report - 6/9/2012

First waves are like first tracks. Up early before the sun and in the water at dawn. First waves of the day before another fin has hit the water.

Sunny and mild morning with current temp of 54F. Moderate N winds again grooming things up. Tide is bottoming out and pulling back the curtain to expose rocks and sand. Peaks to ride at both spots if you have a longboard.

Channel: Rideable surf at the Channel and Groin bars. Longboards are the call as waves are in the thigh high + size but soft. Lefts to ride on both bars and some hold up to the inside. Outgoing tide sectioning things a bit but it is a beautiful day with waves for everyone. Little spinners all around. 12 surfers scattered about with more heading out.

Patch: Working a bit in the thigh to waist high range. Plenty of lines and little rollers coming through even as the tide heads low. Breaking way out past the rocks - just way way out there. Rocks and sand starting to show. Should pick up as tide fills in. About 10 in the water.

Daily Surf Report - 6/8/2012

Another BO-beautiful morning here in Bolinas. The wind is moderate out of the North East and has groomed and cooled ocean to a brisk 49F and the tide has bottomed out, so I'd say it's only gonna get better with the tide push. Sunny and glassy morning.

Small but long perid south swell is out there and showing well at the Patch today even with low tide. Pull out the big single fin and get some long rides.

Channel: 2 guys out and small left spinners in the thigh high range. Look like perfect little barrels but breaking fast and hard to catch. More water will help.

Patch: Plenty of lines and little rollers coming through even at this negative low tide. Breaking way out past the rock and even around Africa Green - just way way out there. Lots of exposed rocks and sand showing. Thigh high + and should pick up as tide fills in.

Daily Surf Report - 6/7/2012

Another splendid and beautiful morning here in Bolinas. The wind is moderate out of the North East and has groomed the ocean, the tide has bottomed out, so I'd say it's only gonna get better with the tide push. Not much swell out there but I saw a few people suiting up with some big logs, ready to tackle the spinning dribblers out there. Sunny and glass like, plenty of fisherman trying their luck and the town is calm and peaceful.

Channel: no one out right now, ankle to knee high bone crushers dredgin on sand...maybe later with more agua.

Patch: plenty of little rollers coming through even at this negative low, just way way out there, lots of exposed rocks too. Ankle to shin to knee, grinding on dry rock, tide push is gonna give it that old college try soon enough.

Daily Surf Report - 6/6/2012

All Astrological phenomena have now passed for the season.
Eclipses, transits, nebulas, psunamis, meteor showers....yada ya
Space is the place right? Or is the place really the tube? And the whole everything else is just the substratum, the stage on which the wave of our lives can pass? And those beautiful moments? Those are our moments to catch a perfect glimpse, the realest moments, they are truer than the one's before and after them. Cresting like a wave ontop of itself, breaking through the slavery of one's own illusionary lineraity. Such prescious glimpses offer us the nescesary perspective to see through the whole thing ~ and bring the tail of the snake to its head, and to keep going, and to make it out.
Stay going ~

SURF IS COMING AND GOING ***
The tide just went deep low, and everything is a little drained at the moment, I feel that when there is more water today, there will be waves. As for now I can just say that the beach is very nice, and the ocean is really far out (distance). When it comes back it should be like it has been: FUN.

Channel: No one out at the moment... micro lines bulging through the tide suck.

Patch: push push puuuuuush! In a few hours, I would like to surf here on my log.

Daily Surf Report - 6/5/2012

Tues: I can tell how this is going to go....

Sunny and nice this morning ~ expect building friendly winds out of the northwest throughout the day...
Expect south swell lines in the channel and patch with the rising tide...
Current surf is about 2-3 ft in the channel, struggling against the tide, a couple of people are on it....

Channel... Who doesn't love the groin?

Patch: when some water is here, there will be super fun logg waves here (waist to chest)...

Attention:
Due to water rationing and county cutbacks 2Mile no longer has a bathroom available. There is a public restroom located behind the tennis courts on the way to the beach. Also, Bolinas beach is experiencing a sand shortage so please leave all of it at the beach and don't bring it back on your suit or board.

REPORT: Monday ~ Usually the rainy days are bad. This is due to consistent south winds on these days. South winds are the worst of course.
Today is raining, but the south winds are light, and the surf is somewhat up. Today could be rad??? Not really bigger, or even sizable, just more frequent and spread out (this is what happens when a swell hits Bolinas, never big, just fills in everywhere) There are a handfull of people out. It is not that cold.

Channel: Coming way up from a super neggy tide this morn.
Actually way surfable when I saw it at 8:15.... about 5 people out, consistent left off the channel bar, multiple waves off the inside channel/groin bar...right and left

Patch: small knee high waves on the low tide, could be good if conditions permit

Daily Surf Report - 6/3/2012

Update: 11:24
Rains have cleared, the sun tried to peep out for a minute, there are several mellow overcast wave scenarios with mixed light winds.

Buenas Dias! Another day has come to pass where the sun has risen and the waves have glistened. Somewhat calm, glassyness with a little offshore gentle breeze...for now... and a nice 52 degrees. Looks to be another fun beach day, surf is a little smaller today and the tide is low, but our spirits are high, bring a beach blanket and the kiddies and enjoy the day.

Channel: the tide is still recovering from its drastic mood swing earlier this morning, very low -1.6 at 5:13am, so things are a little drained. About 10 surfers out currently and the waves are in the knee to waist high blender range. Super gorgeous little spinners here and there, but the wise man's call would be patience and a higher tide with a super slick log to slip n slide.

Patch: wanna build a sand castle? Plenty of rocks showing at the moment, but you know what...there are still a few little waves creeping through, like the mosquito that got in your tent last nite, or mi amigo. One guy on a SUP, one guy on a log...I even saw them get a party wave on the way way way outside, pretty stoked for those two all alone in the sunrise shining outside patch crumblers. Waves currently double over barnacle with the occasional knee high, maybe thigh. More tide push will stoke you out.

Come by and check out the new art around the shop. Local surfer, shop employee, instructor, and artist Blair Tom has installed some sweet surf totems! Come say a prayer for surf and check out Drew's gumball color explosion Pollack-esque fin installation and Urban's new custom planter boxes with sunflowers and a memorial succulent garden!!!

Pool or a pond? Pond would be good for you, natural spring water...
Another beautiful brisk semi-summer day, and we begin with small cruiseable shreddy surf. Combo NW and S swell offering up plenty of waves for plenty of surfers. About 57 degrees with light offshore breezes and sunlit little dribblers cascading towards shore...it's like the shaved head...the flowing robes...the grace...striking.

Channel: peaks, sections, shoulders, closeouts, mini pits. Surf picked up a tad and there are some fun little rides to be had. Variety of boards will work, egg would be an excellent call but longboards will catch it all and a fish can do it if you're patient in the spot at the right time. Waves are in the knee to waist to near chest on some sets. Tide is filling in so go shred!

Patch: some swell lines showing, saw a couple guys heading out that way, definitely will be some fun waves there to be had once the tide fills in, the swell slams the reef and you're cruising on some knee to waist high crumbly tip time nose dwelling cylinders, grab a log, but don't be a hog, share some waves and some posi vibes!

Daily Surf Report - 6/1/2012

NOON Update:
Sunshine and warming up. Surf in the Channel continues.

Happiness is a warm, dry wetsuit!!

First day of June. We start overcast but very calm with no wind and glassy ocean. Sun will be out by late morning. Current temp is 55F and it is again mild and quiet in town. Little bit more energy today. Started showing a bit last night in the Channel. Still mostly NW windswell with a very small background S but surf has picked up with more rideable peaks.

Channel: Scattered peaks working on the outside Channel bar, at the Groin bar and inside waves at Mali-Bo. Close period windswell waves but look to be thigh to waist high + on the sets. High tide filling in and there is a good selection of waves to ride. About 6 currently in the water on longboards.

Patch: Still mostly flat with occasional inside right working in the knee high range. Good for SUPs and kayak and swimmers and those wanting to get on the water and paddle for exercise and sightseeing. No one out here.
